We had a fabulous dinner at La Grotto! The restaurant is beautiful, the food was divine and the service was wonderful! We started with a zucchini and artichoke tarte and a fresh tomato, garlic, spinach pasta. Both dishes were outstanding but more beautiful food was to come.....lamb chops with potatoes, eggplant and red peppers and pork lion with coffee rub, delicious!!! Marvelous wine list! Dessert was a Sambuca parfait, absolutely the most interesting and delicious dessert and coffee ice cream with marscapone sauce. This restaurant should have a Michelin star!!!! Fabulous! And the manager even drove us back to our hotel! Wow! What a great experience for €120 for 2 people! Rivals our great restaurants in SF, California.

We came here on a recommendation from our B&B and were very pleased with the meal and experience. The staff is kind and attentive, the food is absolutely delectable, and the wine list is unrivaled. We ordered two primis, two entrées, a bottle of wine and dessert. Every single item was outstanding.

It was cold, rainy and windy and we didn't realize that the restaurant would not open until 7:30 so we were huddled in their doorway and they opened early just for us and welcomed us with complimentary glasses of white wine. We met the family who run this wonderful restaurant and settled into our table. Waitstaff were wonderful with helpful suggestions for wine and house and regional specialties. The bistecca ala florentina was fabulous and we tried four different appetizers - the aubergine and asparagus tart and the duck liver crostini and the panzanella were all delicious. We felt the prices were worthwhile for the quality of the food and service. We are so glad we indulged in the pear and orange pie with ricotta ice cream and the chocolate torte with pistachio ice cream for dessert. Tip: there is beautiful outdoor patio seating with a leafy view of the church, so this would be a wonderful place for lunch or dinner when the weather is right.

We were in the area spending our 20th wedding anniversary in Italy for 3+ weeks and this was one of our best lunches during our vacation.

I had e-mailed and made a reservation and David was very kind in his fast reply. On arrival we were seated by an older gentleman and later David came to our table and welcomed us by name.

I orded the panzanella salad to start and by recommendation from David my husband ordered the vegetable terrine, both were amazing.

We ordered pasta for the next course and they were both very good. I had the raviloi and my husband ordered the special of the day. The house wine is also wonderful.

Thank you for a nice lunch with an amazing view (we sat outside on the lovely outdoor patio).

The tabe next to ours ordered the steak and it looked mouth watering and I wish we had tried it!

Can't wait to go back and try some other items on their menu.

I wish we would have discovered this restaurant earlier in our trip to Montepulciano. It was truly an amazing dining experience.
Impeccable, friendly service and exceptional food. After two weeks in Montepulciano we were getting a little tired of basically the same menu options at most restaurants. La Grotta offered a diverse menu which was a welcome change after too much pici with chinghiale or pici with tartuffo! I am glad we found it and will definitely return.
