Everything said in previous reviews is true: stunningly beautiful location in Tuscan hills, historic 500 year old building with modern conveniences and friendly, helpful staff. Very restful sleeping.
One warning: we had trouble finding the place, in fact, drove by the entrance a couple times without knowing it. Villa Cicolina is set way back from the main road, reached by an entry drive. The sign to it, however, does not face either lane of traffic. It is positioned to be seen only from the opposite roadside. We ended up calling the hotel and a staff member drove to where we were and guided us in. Andre, the owner, seemed non-plussed when I mentioned this, so the problem is likely to continue. Staying there was otherwise fabulous.

We would like to reply to the comment of PatEvanston on the entrance to Villa Cicolina, he drove in the side entrance which we use usually for staff and suppliers. If he continued on the main road for 200 metres, he could find the main entrance with a very clear and enlightened sign on the left of the road. Villa Cicolina is not hard to find as the entrance is located on the main road.
We thank him very much for his nice comment on our property but we had to clearify the comment on the entrance issue.

I´ve spent 5 nights in this hotel and was the best part of my trip. Montepulciano is lovelly and Villa Cicolina is very cozy and romantic. The staff is very helpful and nice. I think the hotel is perfect for a honey moon. In fact is perfect to spend any time there. The city is next to all other liitle cities in Toscany which makes it even better.
I´d like to be there during summer to enjoy the pool and jacuzy with that awsome view.
Just one thing (which I didn´t mind at all). There is no elevator in the hotel but there are rooms on the ground level, but you miss the view....either way, you can´t miss this hotel.

Villa Cicolina is a perfect hotel for a getaway with your partner. It has everything you need on the grounds, plenty of space, a great restaurant, a stunning pool with views over the countryside and the 500 year old villa is well decorated with wireless access as well.

The reception staff were very helpful and the restaurant staff were efficient and pleasent.

Also if you're in a car then it's a good base for visiting other hill towns around Tuscany.

I would recommend doing the cooking course if you're into food, we had a nice lesson in simple, classic Italian cooking. Including learning how to make our own tagliatelle by hand. That evening the diners in the restaurant ate our food which was enjoyable to watch....

My partner and I have both travelled very well and we both fell in love with Villa Cicolina, in fact it is one of our favourite places we have ever stayed.

The decor of the room we were was lovely, a blend of old and new - chabby chic. We were given a room on the top floor with a HUGE key, the view from the front of the bedroom was superb, straight back up the driveway. The view from the bathroom was amazing, the window was low and fairly small, but when you were in the roll top bath you could see for mile across the rolling Tuscan hills.

The only negative we can think of in retrospect is the bath isn't conveniant for showering.

The pool and vista from the pool were both tremendous, water a little cold though.

The food....real traditional Tuscan cooking by the lady (chef) in the kitchen. Amazingly tasty and scrumptious.

Danielle the waiter we had for dinner and breakfast was very charming, tried very hard and was ever so friendly which made the whole experience very enjoyable.

There was something about the cappucino...i was addicted.

Lunch delivered to you by the pool overlooking Tuscany, with a bottle of wine...superb..unforgetable.

As for the person commenting on the bottling place, yes you do see it when you go down the lane but it's miles away and once you are passed the gates you forget all about it.

Can't thank everyone their enough, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will return!

We could not have enjoyed a better experience in Tuscany. The villa's fantastic staff took excellent care of us, and we especially appreciated their flexibility in accomodating our natural pace while in the region (as opposed to the guest being expected to bend to the pace of the host, which we've also experienced from time to time in Europe). Every sense is awakened when in a place like Tuscany, and Cicolina's contribution to this was immense. We plan to return.
