“October 2013 La Bruciata, Moltepuciano”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

On October 24th to October 31st 2013 we stayed at La Bruciata Agriturismo in Montepulciano, Italy. WOW!! Rick Steves you need to visit this place!! We are from California and have traveled and stayed many places in the world but we will forever remember La Bruciata. From the moment you drive up the road to La Bruciata you begin to see why this place is so special: the beautiful vegetable garden, the olive trees, the chickens and then the farmhouse. It is a ranch that has been owned by 5 generations. Currently 3 generations are working the land and providing for their guests. Laura greeted us and took us to our apartment to check in. She opened the balcony fench doors and the most beautiful view of the Tuscan Valley appeared..WOW!! Each apartment has a fully working kitchen with all appliances, dining room, bathroom with shower, bedroom with balcony. There is a wood burning fireplace. The apartment from the outside and inside is classic Tuscan with modern conveniences inside. There are hammocks for lounging outside, several quaint picnic tables to eat and a beautiful swimming pool with lounging areas. Breakfast is included every day. We ate breakfast every day: handmade tastey pasteries, meat, fruit, homemade jam, bread and excellent cappuccino. Laundry service is available. We took a cooking class and made Picci (which are homemade rolled Tuscan pasta), sauce, bread, chicken, and Panne Cotta for dessert. Homemade dinner is available for purchase every night. La Bruciata is centrally located to travel all the Tuscan wine country and explore the Tuscan cities. I highly recommend La Bruciata because once you stay there you will never forget your stay, the views, and most of all the hospitality of La Bruciata. Say hi to Laura.

We stayed for 9 days at La Bruciata in October, and were wonderfully taken care of by Laura and her lovely family. Laura was so helpful and friendly, and pointed us in the right direction whether it be restaurants, walks, places of interest, thermal spas etc., she knew her stuff! We had dinner in the restaurant several times which was always very good home produce, and of course La Bruciata's first class Rosso wine was the perfect accompaniment. We also ate at various restaurants in Montepulciano, recommended by Laura, which again were family run and excellent.

Further afield, we left our car behind and went into Florence by train. Unfortunately we went on a Saturday which was not a clever choice because of the crowds of tourists. However, would recommend the covered market in Florence where we bought a beautiful leather handbag, wallet and belt at very good prices.

We absolutely loved our day in Siena, with it's amazing medieval streets and buildings, and lingered over an excellent lunch in the square.

Pienza, a short drive away, became a favourite place to visit with spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside, and again a great lunch in a tratoria, followed by fabulous ice cream from a shop in the town.

We would highly recommend a visit to a thermal spa - Laura showed us how to get to her favourite one - we parked by the side of the road and followed a short walk down to the pools located at the bottom of the waterfall. A very pleasant couple of hours was spent in these soothing pools of hot thermal water. And all free!!

We could not fault our stay at La Bruciata. Four generations of the same family had such an appeal to us, from Grandmama who we would greet as she had a stroll around the gardens in the mornings, Marisa who cooked all the meals with such care and cheerfulness, Laura who ran everything so well and nothing was any trouble to her, to finally lovely little Alisa who sometimes brought us toast in the morning, and her baby sister Emma. What a delight they all were. Thank you Laura so much for a lovely introduction to Tuscan life. We are enjoying your wonderful olive oil and jam!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms appeared to be equally good

My husband and I stayed for 1 week at the end of October 2013. The property is beautiful and it is a great location, very central for many day trips. The apartments are spacious and clean with wonderful views. The breakfasts were hearty and very good. We did the welcome dinner which was excellent and great value for the money. Laura and her family are very nice and welcoming! Only Laura speaks English and she is very helpful with tips, directions, suggestions. She suggested that we take a trail from the agriturismo to the nearby town of Monteccielo and eat at La Porta. We took her advice & this ended up being 1 of our favorite days in Tuscany! The walk is 1.5 hours each way and it is beautiful views to the town and back. La Porta ended up being 1 of our best meals in Tuscany. I highly recommend La Bruciata!!!

Room Tip: The room directly above the kitchen can be a bit noisy in the evening (until 11pm or so) while the f...

The ladies of Agriturismo La Bruciata will make you feel so welcome and comfortable. I loved the area of Montepulciano and it was perfect distance for either a quick drive or a nice walk into town. If you are into hiking there are many trails as well. PLEASE do yourself a favor a book a dinner at the Agriturismo's restaurant. The food was lovely! Breakfast each morning was delicious and fresh- and always with a wonderful cup of cappuccino. We were there on our honeymoon and it was the perfect balance of seclusion, beauty, and romance. A truly wonderful spot!

Laura, her mother Marisa, grandmother and children provided an incredible week for us in Tuscany. We enjoyed seeing the four generations working with love and dedication to provide us with the best experience possible. We enjoyed true Tuscan cuisine...scrumptious breakfasts and multi-course dinners complete with home grown produce, olive oil and wine.
They went out of their way to accommodate our every need including "rescuing" us since we had become lost enroute to LaBruciata. We had a cooking class with mother, daughter and children which added to our feeling of being part of their extended family.
The accommodations are wonderful and the views cannot be more beautiful...try morning mist and a Tuscan sunrise!

Room Tip: We rented the 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment. It was very comfortable and afforded beautiful views. Ever...

The 'true' heart of Tuscany, both in location and spirit. Laura and her family were incredible. Extremely helpful with places to see and suggestions. The food, (daily breakfasts, and dinner) were everything we expected and more from this region of Italy. Our group (3 couples), had a 3 bedroom apt. with great views from every window. We ran out of superlatives to describe our experience. All agreed, it was the prettiest part of Tuscany. Nestled in the family property since 1933, the villa is surrounded by olive trees, grapevines, and fruit trees. The grounds, and building, were immaculate. Great food and homemade wine. Words are not enough to describe the experience so I posted pictures.
Dal profondo del nostro cuore vi ringrazio tanto Laura. voi e la vostra famiglia sono stati molto molto simpatica! Ci vediamo!
