“Amazing Caves!”

Cantina Fattoria della Talosa
Certificate of Excellence

Attraction details
Owner description: Since 1972 the estate has been owned by renowned entrepreneur Angelo Jacorossi, renowned entrepreneurs. Talosa was one of the first wineries in Montepulciano to undertake the quest for fine quality which brought this appellation to the heights of Tuscan and Italian winemaking. The main ageing cellar is in the old town centre of Montepulciano, in an underground area between two of the oldest buildings called Palazzo Tarugi e Palazzo Sinatti. He Talosa Cellar date back to the 16th century and visiting them is like stepping back time. The brick passageways contain a series of vaults and niches where the barrels are placed. Visitors to this magical place automatically assume an air of respect or even reverence for the force of history pulsating these walls. The winery applies this same respect and reverence to cultivation of the vineyards and production of the quality wines.

“Amazing Caves!”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

There are many, many steps so if you are unsure on your feet be ware! The climb down is well worth the effort, the caves are amazing and the size of the barrels are equally as impressive! And after you climb back up, the wine tasting is a fabulous reward!

“Amazing cellar, tour and wine”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

The cellar winery is located on the city center of the charming Montepulciano. Cristiano, your guide, was very helpful and pleasant. He showed us the most incredible cellar that I have seen in my life so far. The cellar was an Etruscan cave and it was used as World War bomb shelter. The wine is great! Just a perfect attarction in Tuscany.

“Great wine!”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

sorry I missed the caves but really enjoyed the tasting. Couldn't bring but one bottle--no room in my luggage--or I'd have purchased more. The man doing the tastings was very helpful, didn't rush us, very informative.

“Definitely check out the wine caves”
Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

We visited during a time that wasn't very crowds and so we had a great experience. The wine was solid, great tasting, and the server (Andre) was pleasant and knowledgeable. This place is also worth visiting just for the wine cellar which is in the caves below the tasting room. You can visit the caves unsupervised so you can go any time and spend as long or as little time as you like. Great stop!

“Love these caves/wine cellar..”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Stopped in again to see if they had any more reserva and any vinsanto..they didn't have either. The vinsanto was delicious. I love going here for the tastings also, the guy up front speaks decent English but is a pleasure to deal with. We try everything include the grappa.
I will be stopping in the spring to see if they have the new vinsanto in and possibly buying a reserve.
