“Simply outstanding!”

We arrived at La Valiana between visits to two beautiful Italian cities, Florence and Venice. It was our time in Tuscany and the plan was to visit area hill towns while staying in a centrally located villa that could provide us with a comfortable home base from which to travel. What ended up happening was that we found ourselves finding reasons to spend more time at La Valiana. From the moment we arrived, we felt pampered and taken care of in both large and little ways. Cecilia and her parents were delightful, but not intrusive, and always concerned that we had everything we needed. La Valiana is a labor of love and that is clear. The villa is well equipped, the bedrooms spacious and comfortable, the common areas warm and inviting with furniture and art from the area. They have thought of everything - bathrobes and slippers, bath towels and pool towels, hand embroidered linens for the beds, wines available for purchase on site, special Tuscan treats upon arrival, a glorious heated pool and jacuzzi, a library filled with reading material and tourist information for the area, spectacular grounds and a view to die for! I think it would be simply impossible to not enjoy La Valiana! Thank you to Cecilia and family for giving us such a beautiful place from which to explore Tuscany. It was a dream come true.

Dear Pat T,

We thank you so very much for your beautiful review--and we are so pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay at Villa LA VALIANA! Your advice to others, "What ended up happening was that we found ourselves finding reasons to spend more time at La Valiana", sum up everything. The villa, and particularly its garden with its spectacular panoramic views of the Tuscan hills, is the perfect place to do enjoy the moment, and to create moments not soon to be forgotten.
Many thanks!

“The perfect space and place!”

It starts before you actually get to La Valiana, when you communicate with the owner Cecilia with any questions about the area or the visit. The responses come quickly and are helpful right out of the gate. You are dealing with a family run operation and not a company. We quickly came to realize that is a huge positive.

La Valiana represents a vision realized for Cecilia and her parents Ivo and Alma, to create the perfect vacation place for other families to come enjoy. they have done that with this sprawling villa overlooking the vineyards of Tuscany.

Location- Situated perfectly between many of the great hill towns of Tuscany. Classics like Montepulciano and Corona are about 20 minutes away. Lesser known but very charming Castiglione del Lago the same distance. A bit farther but just under an hour away are gems like Assisi, Orvieto, Pienza, Montechiello and Montalcino. We usually left La Valiana in the late morning and explored one or two hill towns wrapped around a lunch in the town. In the evening we hit Cortona and Montepulciano when the tourists had largely departed and the streets quieted. We had a world class dinner in Cortona one night. Cecilia can provide restaurant suggestions, and there are lists left for you at the villa. One of the great gems of Italian wine, Avignonesi, is literally right down the gravel road about a half mile. We enjoyed the lunch/tasting/tour visit there, and then has as our local wine store one of the great vineyards in the country when we needed to reload!

The Villa- The family has brought the villa back to life and it is spacious and well designed. Bedrooms are on the ground floor as well as the second and third. Each has large windows that you can swing open and enjoy spectacular views from every bedroom. The bedrooms are large, bathrooms very smartly designed. The shower in our room was the best we experienced in Italy, and beat the one at the St. Regis in Florence! The common areas of the villa were spacious. Best of all were the outside seating options. Each morning we started at the arbor down by the pool area for breakfast and coffee as we looked out over the vineyards. In the evening there was a nice elevated seating area above the pool by the house with great sunset views. I read a book for a couple of hours one afternoon in a third seating area in a tiny gazebo. The kitchen is easily used, and Cecilia is a phone call away if needed.

Our final night at La Valiana we wanted a private dinner, and Cecilia arranged for Luca, the head chef at Avignonesi Winery to cook dinner. This was an event. On the second floor Cecilia and family designed a kitchen for cooking classes and private dinners, and we enjoyed our finest dinner while in Italy as we watched Chef Luca prepare the dinner and then enjoyed it as the sun set.

The pool was warm and welcoming, the beds comfortable, the grounds very well kept by Ivo. The views were peaceful and in every direction. Nature was all around us. La Valiana turned out to be exactly what we wanted four our five day visit to this region.

“Relaxing time in a beautiful settting”
Reviewed June 27, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

La Valiana is a gorgeous villa with magnificent views of the Tuscan skyline.
One can visit many closeby beautiful towns like Pienza, Montepulciano, and others
But make sure you enjoy the stay in the villa itself.
Beautifully designed, one can cook and eat in various places of the villa.
We travelled with friends and had a wonderful time.
Cecilia.the owner and her parents were also delightful as well.
While it is a bit prizy, it is recommended by us.

“Another Amazing Visit to La Valiana”

We just returned from our third visit to La Valiana and look forward to going back again. Before our first stay at La Valiana, I researched many villas in Tuscany. I was drawn to La Valiana because of the stunning photos on the website. We all know how photos can be deceiving, but in this case, the property was just as amazing in person. What I didn't realize from the website is that the real beauty of the property is the owners. Cecilia, Ivo and Alma welcomed us with open arms the first day and made sure our Tuscan holiday was incredible. Now, it is like returning to visit long-time family friends.

La Valiana is a convenient location for making day trips. While staying at the villa we've visited Florence, Siena, Montalcino, Pienza, Assisi, San Gimignano, Cortona and other fantastic places.

Tuscany is beautiful and there are probably other nice places to stay, but La Valiana is just incredible. We've recommended La Valiana to friends who also fell in love with the property and the owners. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a Tuscan villa. Even if you are traveling with less than eight guests, it's still the right place to stay.

“Wonderful Tuscan Villa”

Wow!
We are a party of 7 and decided to find a villa to relax in the Tuscan country side.
Fortunately we found La Valiana. This wonderful spa-like home is peaceful, comfortable and has all the amenities anyone could need.
Cecilia is charming and very helpful. She helped arrange transportation and also taught authentic Italian cooking classes with her mother.
This villa is as described and actually much better in person. We made many memories and will not forget this place or Cecilia and her parents.
Ciao!

“Idyllic vacation rental”

For our first vacation in Tuscany we two couples decided to pamper ourselves with a luxury villa! La Valiana was an excellent hub for day trips to much of Tuscany, and the villa itself was simply a dream- beautiful, spacious, comfortable, luxuriously appointed inside (with wifi of course). The outdoors spaces were perfectly kept up, comfortable for lounging, eating and drinking, gorgeous pool area, and incredible Tuscan vistas. And an unexpected bonus: a top winery two minutes down the street, Avignonesi- take an hour! I heartily recommend La Valiana! One caveat: we would rethink served meals in the villa, both breakfasts and chef dinner- simply a matter of cost/benefit.

Enjoying a one-week time-out with our friends (altogether 3 couples between 55 and 65 years old) at Villa Valiana, we can highly recommend it as the perfect place for a relaxing vacation.

Not only the Villa was heaven on earth, but also Cecilia with her parents left nothing to be desired. We were glad to enjoy warm Italian hospitality, excellent food, brilliant wines from nearby wineries, charming little villages i.e. Montepulciano or Perugia.

We will always keep in mind to com back! Thanks for all!
