We only stayed at Il Tosca for one night. We were welcomed by Elena and she collected our luggage as well as giving us some cookies and juice. We felt very welcome. Great place and I highly recommend! Montepulician is a very cool place to explore.
Having spent the previous 5 days on the Amalfi Coast in the height of tourist season, Il Tosco was the perfect place to unwind. With decadent finishings and gorgeous (yet surprisingly modern) finishings throughout the house - Il Tosco and its' family run staff offered amazing service, unbelievable food and great advice throughout our stay.
They shipped wine back to the U.S. for us, had late night snacks prepared and went out of their way to make Tuscany feel like your home away from home.
I cannot say enough great things about Il Tosco, but we will certainly be back.
When I go to heaven, I will have a room at Il Tosco. And Elena, our host, will meet us at the door. Our favorite stay on a 3 week trip to Europe. In a most wonderful Tuscan hill city. (Nobile de Montepulciano!) Her house is the former residence of a cardinal, and the rooms retain original furnishings when her family bought the residence. Her wonderful morning brunch with home baked tortes, pies, quiches, fruits, meat and cheese are worth the cost of the stay. The room comes free!!!! So this is a must if in Italy, abandon your thought out plans and head to Il Tosca. But please, leave room for us on our next visit. (IMPORTANT: book for at least two nights, because once there you cannot and will not leave the next day!) And no, Elena did not ask us to write this review.
I do not have sufficient words to adequately praise this amazing property!! We have stayed in 5 star properties all over the world and Il Tosco could match any of them. What sets it apart is the care and dedication exhibited by Elena and her mother - nothing is too much trouble. From restaurant and winery recommendations to the sumptuous, banquet-like, home made breakfast, they went out of their way to ensure a fabulous experience for us. Our only disappointment was having to leave!
Il Tosco is a beautiful property set on the edge of the hilltop wine village of Montepulciano. Located in an ancient building (splendidly renovated) with expansive rooms, higher-than-high ceilings, wonderful eclectic decor elements, the villa exceeded our expectations. Restaurants, shops and wine cellars/sellers are steps away. The proprietors were amazingly welcoming - unobtrusive, gracious and anticipating every need. We expect to happily return to Il Tosco.
