“Such an Italian experience”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

This restaurant is part of a winery where they give tours during the day and are prepared to ship wine all over the world. The wine was the best we had and the history as related by Paulo was delightful. All the people working there were charming and their enjoyment of their work was infectious. The meal was delicious and we had no doubt that the Tiramisu was the best we had ever had.

“Bravo!”

Inspiring how such a young fellow was able to create a great place like the "bottega del nobile". The quality of the food was great and the selection of wines impressive and in all the price ranges.

“Good atmosphere, vast wine selection”
Reviewed October 12, 2013 via mobile

Had dinner here after reading reviews on TA.
Pleasant restaurant with a cavern like interior.
Had pici with hare ragu which was excellent.
Platter of local pig and Cinghiale salumi and prosciutto was also very good, as was the tagliata Chianina.
Big selection of wines by the glass, so this is a great place to sample various wines from montepulciano region.
Service was slightly slow, but attentive.

“4 donne Pazze in Italia”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Paulo knows his wines. He is only 24 and is so laid back and takes his time with his customers. He recommended some wines within our price range to buy for back at our villa in Abbadia di Montepulciano and vineyards to go for tastings in the area. We didn't even meet him until after we ate in his restaurant below having wondered in the back way on our first night in Montepulciano. There is also a romantic area to eat in that has a glass floor looking over wine barrels below/ Only tables for two of course. The pici pasta in a wild boar sauce was a first for all of us that followed the best salad of the entire 10 day trip. Thanks in part to the fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and arugula, but also to the olive oil and the 12 year old balsamic vinegar Antico Mulino that Paulo puts on the tables. Of course the sweet and thick balsamic vinegar can be purchased at a reasonable price in his shop along with over 300 types of wines from the area. He bubble wraps everything so can take back in your luggage. Great gifts for yourself and others to bring back a taste of Italy. We ate at 2 other restaurants in Montepulciano during our 4 days in the country and he always was complementary of the other restaurants we had chosen to check out. A real gentlemen. We would stop in and say hi each night and when we stopped in the last night to say goodbye and buy another bottle of TreRose(we women prefer a dry cold rose at lunch or before dinner with appetizers, and leave the brunellos, chianti and Nobile di Montepulicano reds for dinner), to drink outside his shop at the couple of tables he has set up, he gave us complementary bread drenched in olive oil with some peppercorn cheese. Of course this is a great marketing idea as when people who were strolling buy would ask us about the restaurant, we would of course espouse its virtues and help bring people into his unique restaurant and wine shop. It reminds me of Bottles in San Juan. Anthony Bourdain please do not come here and make it famous like Roma Sparita in Rome which we ran from later in the week. Anyway, do not miss this experience of slowing down and being part of Paolo's world for a few hours. You will want to go back. We loved all of our dining experiences in Montepulciano, but he makes the place. I think he works 24/7 and he clearly loves his job. Something most of us will sadly never experience.

“Super place for a leisurely dinner with great wines and an extremely relaxed atmosphere.”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

The cavernous stone walls make for a unique setting with excellent local cuisine and superb wines. What more could you ask for from a venue where we spent a fantastic evening with friends. Easy to find in the centre of town and made a reservation in the day for 6. To top things off the meal was extremely well priced. Highly recommended.
