“Stay here, you won't regret it”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

If you're visiting Tuscany, or Montepulciano more specifically, you should stay here! From the moment my wife and I arrived, Ivana was a great host. She was friendly, made us breakfast the following morning, and made us feel welcome. Giorgio offered us directions when we were about to leave. Our room was one of the best I've ever stayed at -- large, bright, loft with sitting area, and balcony with a stunning view of the town on one side and the country on another. Even in our short stay, we spent a lot of time on the balcony, enjoying the sun and the evening breeze and taking in the views. The building overall is also nice, historic and charming. Make sure to check out the rooftop deck also.

Two things to keep in mind: breakfast is not included, but was reasonably priced. There are no elevators, so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs.

This is a great hotel on all fronts: the hosts, the building, location, rooms, and atmosphere. Definitely stay here.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely property for three nights in mid-October and used Montepulciano as our home base to explore a bit of Tuscany. We chose a view room in the Riccio Suite, a newly renovated space offering beautiful accommodations. The view was utterly magnificent looking out over the town of Montepulciano and the Tuscan countryside. The magic of the light at twilight and in the early morning hours is breathtaking.

What sets this property apart is the fact that you truly feel like you are being welcomed into the home of a wonderful Italian family, which indeed you are. Giorgio and Ivana were wonderful hosts; grazie mille for the fabulous dinner recommendations! The property itself is a home, not a hotel, which comes across in the ambience and service. We also thoroughly recommend enjoying a glass of wine on the tiny roof top terrace which gives you a magnificent perch above the town and countryside.

Our room was very comfortable with an updated, but still traditional feel. The bathroom was wonderful, very large with a nice tub/shower and as wonderful a view as the main bedroom. Free wi-fi worked well and there was ample storage as well as a small mini-bar/fridge. The room was absolutely immaculate as was the entirety of the property.

Montepulciano itself is a wonderful home base for exploring Tuscany. We enjoyed exploring the area during the day and then returning to the lovely small town atmosphere. Walking across the piazza after dinner in the evening was magical; perhaps one or two other people but otherwise just you and centuries of history surrounding you.

Lovely stay from start to finish. Would highly recommend enjoying the hospitality of this wonderful family in this stunning area.

I just can't say enough about this hotel. It was our favorite stay on a 25 days European trip. The town of Montepulciano was our favorite and Mueble IL Ricco was heavenly. Gio and his wife, Ivana, felt like family. We rented the "hedgehog suite" which was spacious, immaculately clean, and had views of the entire valley out our balcony. Ivana's breakfasts were delicious. I wish I could return their hospitality in California.

We stayed at the Meuble il Riccio for one night while traveling in Tuscany in October. This charming B&B is in an old palace in a great location in the center of Montepulciano. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean, had a large bathroom and a wonderful sweeping view over the valley. The hosts were friendly and very helpful in giving recommendations of places to eat and to taste wine. The breakfast was not included in the price. The entrance is through a charming courtyard and up one flight of stairs. We had a car and it was a bit of a challenge to drive up the steep and windy hill town road to find the free parking which is only a short walk to the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view over the valley.

My husband and I spent 12 days in Tuscany in October - 3 nights at Meuble il Riccio. Our room was perfect - had a gorgeous view, huge bathroom, was clean, quiet and comfortable. We also thought that Montepulciano was a great choice for our few days in a small Tuscan town. Compared to other hosts who gave us wonderful suggestions for which drives to take, towns to visit, restaurants, etc, we didn't find Gio and Ivana especially helpful. We actually weren't sure that Ivana could speak English as we were not even greeted in the morning when we came to breakfast. Breakfast did consist of her delicious tarts and cakes, however. 8 euros seemed high (especially since breakfast was included everywhere else), but we were okay with that. What did surprise us was the extra 3 euros we were charged for the cappuccino that my husband brought me back to the room while I was getting dressed one morning. Really?
But, the room and hotel were just beautiful. We loved the little rooftop terrace - what a view!! Another guest told us about it or we would not even as known it was there. If you stay, don't miss it! A perfect spot for a glass of oh such wonderful Tuscan wine!

Room Tip: Get a room with a view - it's spectacular!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review. We just want to specify that at the time of the booking confirmation we have indicated the cost of breakfast and the price of € 3,00 is related to two cappuccinos required extra breakfast. Thank you and see you next time.
Arrivederic.

I booked this as part of our Italian adventure, the room was comfortable and clean but we did not receive the complimentary wine and we were charged EU 8.00 each for breakfast. Weird. The dates were outside the regular tourist season and most other locations gave us the winter rates, they did not. I must say it was worth the stay and had a ton of charm!

We always pleased to receive reviews from our guests even when are not entirely positive as long as they are truthful. When they are not, we feel compelled to respond.
1) the special offer of a bottle of wine (see Tripadvisor) is valid only for minimum 3 nights stay submitting your coupon upon arrival.
2) with our booking confirmation we clearly specified that in our small hotel breakfast is not included in the room rate and is optional at a cost of Euro 8,00 per person.
Perhaps all this has escaped to Pamela P but before writing inaccuracies may wish to determine how far you go to affirm. We work with the utmost dedication and we are sorry to see reduced our evaluation from incorrect ratings.

We recently stayed a night at Meuble il Riccio. Our room was very large, clean and comfortable. Gio and Ivanna were so sweet, kind and helpful. What a beautiful couple. Gio welcomes you into his home and he means it. The B&B is located right in the middle of the small town and easy to get to from their parking if you are driving in. Breakfast was tasty and a beautiful spread. A really love place to stay.
