“Le Manzinaie(Girasole) - Excellent Holiday!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

Our family stayed at Le Manzinaie August 2012. The cypress lined entrance as you enter the private property is stunning! After a long flight and a two and a half hour drive from Fiumicino airport we were welcomed by Marzia and Fiore who are the most hospitable people. Upon arrival they offered us refreshing drinks and they showed us around the property. The grounds are extremely well kept and the pool is pristine. It was greatly appreciated as we experienced temperatures hovering around the low 40's. The appartment is very well kept and there is everything you need there. One word of advise, you need to listen to Marzia and keep the shutters closed during the daytime. There are grocery stores nearby but my favorite is the COOP which is situated near the property. There is also an OBLO situated nearby where you can wash your clothes. The owners allow you to take fruits and vegetables from their property. The tomatoes were to die for and I could of lived off bruschetta alone! There are two wines estates near the property which are called Poliziano and Avignonesi. If you need any day trips planned or need any kind of info please make sure to ask Marzia. She knows everything there is to know and follow her directions as they are spot on. Dont be afraid to venture as Marzia will get you there and get you back! We got so brave we even drove to France! Marzia is better than the GPS! Also there is a little restaurant called Renatos, situated near the property and the food is very decent and prices are decent too.
There is a hospital nearby in case of any mishaps.
Marzia and Fiore were kind enough to invite us to supper one evening! The food was delicious and the company great. It gives all the visitors a chance to get to know one another.
We had the opportunity to meet their wonderful daughter Alice who is a univeristy student and speaks several languages.
When vising Tuscany please make sure to visit Cortona which is only 20 mins. away from the property....and Marzia will suggest other day trips. They are all excellent.
Please do not hestitate to rent this property whether you are a couple or travelling as a family.
You will not regret Le Manzinaie. This trip to Tuscany has been a most memorable one and given the chance I would do it all over again and I would stay at Le Manzinaie again.
Marzia, Fiore and Alice at Le Manzinaie will forever own a little piece of my heart......

I can't say enough about this place and the family who runs it. It is 15 minutes outside of Montepulciano and about a mile to the nearest store. We loved the surrounding towns and found this to be the perfect base to explore Tuscany. You do need a car if you stay here. We brought our infant boys and the hosts were very helpful and welcoming. We used our private patio almost every night to cook dinner and enjoy a bottle of wine. The house was very clean and had a great Tuscan feel. The grounds are beautiful and we picked delicious fruit from the trees in the garden every morning. The last night we had dinner with the host family which was a blast and the food was superb. They put their heart and soul into the place and it truly shows.

My wife and I first stumbled onto Le Manzanaie in 2001 during a search on the Internet. It had just opened, and I decided to let the customer reviews guide me. They did, and we booked a vacation. And now, eleven years and 6-7 visits later, I sheepishly write a long overdue review about a beautiful Tuscan property and the salt-of-the-earth family who we and maybe thousands of other lucky visitors love as our own.

Marzia, Fiore and Alice are officially the proprietors. In reality, they become like sister and brother as they befriend every newcomer with personal service for a true Tuscan experience. Wait till they hold their weekly dinner for guests! Fabulous food and drink that puts many of the local restaurants to shame and is the opening to meet new people from around the world.

The grounds consist of an expansive lawn mixed with shady trees and gazebos, a large swimming pool, and a garden to which the guests are encouraged to avail themselves for juicy tomatoes and plums and assorted other tasty products of the iron rich Tuscan soil. The rooms are country Tuscan, very comfortable, with a small kitchen, large comfortable bed, and large bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi. It is usually pre-stocked with some starter items until you get your first visit to the Alimentari (grocery store).

The family eagerly works with its guests to plan a week of day trips, by car and/or train: Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Siena, Firenze, Arrezo, Cortona, Assisi, Orvieto, and many many more small little gems tucked away in the surrounding hills. The location is a convenient hub to everything in Tuscany.

Visitors come as groups of friends or family, or even alone, some days to enjoy the serenity of a summer day, or to sit outside laughing and talking, and sampling the local cheeses and wines purchased on the day's exploratory trips like we did with many new friends we encountered from Canada, Holland and the US among other nations.

Enjoy "la dolce vita"! We can't wait to come back.

We have recently come back from a fabulous holiday in Tuscany and our 4th stay at Podere Le Manzinaie. Having stayed here at several times over the last 8 years both before and since having children we cannot speak more highly of this place. The fantastic hosts are second to none and have made us feel very much part of the family. Nothing is too much trouble from booking a restaurant, to travel advice to lighting the bbq! Fiore, Marzia and Alice are such amazing hosts and such wonderful people. The property is perfectly situated too for visits to stunning places such as Cortona, Siena, Montepulciano and Pienza. Accommodation is perfect and the pool just tops it all off. You will not be disappointed with a stay here. We miss them all already.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely and well positioned. Both independent villas are beautiful.

We just returned from our summer vacation in Italy and it was wonderful. In Toscana, we decided to do 'Agroturismo', which we've never done before. We searched the internet and honed down on Montepulciano and we stayed at the villa 'Podere Le Manzinaie'. We read excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. I must say that words fall short to describe the wonderful hospitality of our entire host family. The place is very high quality and incredibly comfortable. Our apartment was very spacious and clean- just as advertised. The owners really go out of their way to welcoming everyone to their home. They facilitated all kind of information, made reservations for museums in Florence, and to visit a winery. The property is very close to the city of Montepulciano, a medieval city like most in Toscana. We got to see the 'Bravio delle Botti' (barrel rolling contest), which was unique. Food and wine was unparalleled. If you are ready for a relaxed and wonderful experience in Toscana, we highly recommend staying at Le Manzinaie. It will be a real treat and an experience you will never forget.

Le Manzinaie was just like home..every detail was thought of!! The property is close to many towns in the Tuscany region...we visited Cortona, Montepulciano, San Gimingnano and Siena. Our hosts were very welcoming and offered advice on travel in the area, things to see and do, driving directions as well as a detailed history of the property. Our accommodations were perfect...a home away from home!! Our teenage children loved the pool and Rufus the family dog. The property boasts a vegetable garden and fruit trees which we could access, large swimming pool and fish pond. The property and our cottage was very well maintained and immaculately clean!! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Tuscany!

My wife and I were looking for the perfect base for our 6 day cycling, eating and drinking tour of Tuscany in July 2012. We hit a home run with Podere Le Manzinaie. The location was perfect, the villa had everything you need, and the pool was heaven during the 40+ degree temps we enjoyed. Best of all, the hosts are an amazing family that will go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and give you advice on anything in the region. It was a sad night when Italy last the final match in the world cup, but even then, the locals were happy to share a few drinks. If you are lucky enough to stay for a week, you might even be treated to a beautiful homemade meal!
