Several of us on a tour group dined here at it was one of our best meals in Italy. The antipasti starter was served and we thought it was for the table but it was for each person.A good platter of local salami, meat, figs and cheeses etc.the ravioli with pecorino cheese was superb as well the local handmade pasta --pici and well worth a try.A few of us managed a main course and chose wild boar, local sheep sausage or a steak and all were delightful. This is a small restaurant and the owners are both front and back of house and were cheerful and friendly and assisted with meal and local wine choices which made it a great evening. The balance of diners seemed to be local folk which in itself is a recommendation.

We were staying near Montepulciano for a week so we traveled around wine tasting, small town hopping and restaurant eatting. We found this restaurant by accident as we were wandering around. As three couples it is hard to find trattorias that can accomodate us on a moment's notice. Its a relatively small trattoria...what caught our eye was that it seemed to be filled with locals and not tourists.......

As a group of six, we usally would order starters, various main dishes, sides and salads and deserts. We would also order a ribbolitta soup (i.e. as its based on a recipe that is handed down generation to generation by the nona's) as one of our guages to determine how good a restuarant is. This restaurant had one of the best ribbolitta soups we had on our vacation, along with the overall best soup starter which was a faro, fagioli bean and mushroom soup that was the best soup of our trip. We ordered severl pici starters with different sauces. Their pici with ragu ) was excellent as was their pici with truffles. In addition, their papadelle with cinghiale i.e. wild boar sauce were out of this world. The other pasta dishes we sampled were equally as good but when you come to the land of pici you need to have it as you can't find it at home i.e. this part of Tuscany is known for their pici. The mixed grill platter was stupendous and they had some very creative side dishes based on the vegetables in season.

The wine expert in our group perused the wine menu and saw a wine that he knew very well. Although we orderered another wine, he was very impressed to see it on the menu (its a hard wine to find) and more importantly that it did not have a high markup (i.e. he had bought it for 60 euro a few years ago from the winery and it was priced at 70 euros here). He conversed with the owner and was pleased to hear that these wines are now available at trattorias like his.

The deserts were also excellent.

Pricing is reasonable especially for the area. We all came to the conclusion that this restuarant was the best on our trip! If you are in the area, make sure you do not miss this...you will not be disappointed.

We thought their pricing was

Husband and I loved this place so much, it was our only repeat in 5 meals in Montepulciano!
The waiter is so kind and careful to make sure you get the best dishes on the menu, which is in Italian, English, and German by the way. The wines are amazing, as well as the aperitifs, caffe, etc.
No sense in saying what exact dishes we had since the menu changes regularly, but the dishes were so fresh, so delectable, we were just delighted with every bite!!
Love love love, truly cannot say enough!
When the waiter brought us our dessert before I even had ordered it, I declared my love for him :) the chantilly crime and frutta de bosco just sealed the deal.
Enjoy!

We've been coming to Montepulciano for years to visit friends and think we know the town's restaurants pretty well. Diva is our favorite. It's the second restaurant on the left as you walk up the main drag -- the Corso -- after entering through the main gate. The prices are reasonable and the food is wonderful. It just gets better and better with each return visit. The last time 'round we had, among other things, an artichoke sformata, grilled pecorino with porcini, pasta with wild boar sauce, and sausages. Man oh man oh man. It was food heaven, Tuscan-style. Stefano, the owner, treats you with respect and generosity, and Rosalba, the waitress, is efficient, unruffled, and lovely. You may fall in love with the place. We certainly have.

We found this restaurant near our hotel on a rainy evening. We enjoyed our meal so much we came back again the next night. We shared the salad with pears and walnuts, and I had the pork which was amazing. My husband had the wild boar which was absolutely superb! We had a half liter of the house wine and coffee after the meal. When we arrived just after 7 we were the only customers, by 7:45 the restaurant was full--almost all Italians! We highly recommend this restaurant!
