We had a huge top-floor suite with a beautiful view over the city walls and beyond. Enormous living area with open fire and kitchenette plus upper floor bedroom and en-suite bathroom (jacuzzi, but a bit narrow - good for thin people!). Breakfast in the restaurant was very nice and we also ate there one evening - there was an excellent wine selection, service was very friendly, and the food was very good. Location was perfect - very central but quiet. The owner and his son (who speaks excellent English) were extremely hospitable and helpful. The only downside was the journey from Chiusi train station, as the bus service didn't seem to run on Sundays, so we had to get a taxi.

Very nice place. It’s not easy to beat the hilly landscape of Montepulciano but this inn really fits well in this marvellous little town.
Comfortable rooms, from where you can oversee the gorgeous vineyards, vineyards which produce an even better wine! The best pleasure of the "Borgo Osteria" is to sit in the terrace tasting good food and sipping the home made wine kindly presented by a tipically welcoming italian staff.
I’ve been there last summer with a couple of friends. Probably the description is quite basic, but this inn really struck me for it's all around welcoming features. A must if you happen to stop over in this tiny bucolic town.

The hotel is a small family place built in medieval Montepulciano that did not fulfill my expectations. The place is charming, with no reception desk, no telefones in the rooms (why ? asked me the owner ? Everyone has a cell phone in Italy...no comments) and there were no elevators although a three story building. My wife has a prosthesis in her hip so that brought us a problem. If informed, I would´nt have chosen the place at all. The upside was the dedication of the family that did all that could be done to please us. If one does not care for the lack of infrastructure, it´s an ok place. More an old Inn then a hotel.

Room Tip: It´s not worth the dolars you pay for. For a lesser price and no expectation on infrastructure, it´s...

We spent three wonderful days in Montepulciano. Our apartment looked out on to the street which leads to the Piazza. The apartment was beautiful and nicely furnished. We felt like locals as we went to shops and restaurants and then returned to "our place" within the city. Lots of great shopping and restaurants. It would have been nice to stay for a week and have time to travel out into the countryside.

So....now to the part where the family who owns Osteria del Borgo went beyond the limits to make our stay an enjoyable one. We had major problems with a transportation issue which caused us to reach the hotel about 9:30 PM. Early the next morning the young man whose family owns the hotel was most kind to drive some of our party back to Siena to pick up our rental car. This helped get our vacation back on track and is a kindness we will never forget!
As a side note during our difficulties we found several people along the way who were willing to help us reach Montepulciano. Especially helpful were members of a family who were vendors at the street market at Montepulciano Station. Because of our limited Italian and their limited English, we never got a name or address for this family, but if the owners of Osteria del Borgo can give a message to them it would be, "Thanks is not enough, you and the Osteria del Borgo proved that there are still many people in the world who are willing to act when they see someone in trouble!!" We stayed in September 2011.

The view from our room was pretty amazing, and the room was very nice. Bathroom in the hall, very big and well-appointed, also with a stunning view, but there was only one other room to share it and that was unoccupied. Pretty good value, nice people, and you get to drive right through the narrow streets and the main piazza to drop off your bags! An experience not to be missed if you have a car. The parking area the hotel has for its guests also has the best view of any parking lot I've ever seen.

We stayed in Montepulciano for two nights. Adriano and Osteria del Borgo were simply wonderful. We checked in and were pleasantly surprised by our room. It was huge, and the view was stunning! The skylights were a nice touch. We watched a rain storm over the countryside and the sunsets were amazing! The enoteca and eatery were great, though most Montepulciano food was great. The hospitality was warm and family style. We couldn't have asked for better!
