“Excellent food”

We ate here twice during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed the food at reasonable prices. Highly recommend it for a casual dinner.

“One of our Best Meals in Italy”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

We made a reservation to eat at this restaurant as a recommendation from the owner of our bed and breakfast. She told us that this was the place that she would go to eat... where the locals go. While it is not fancy, you can expect and out of this world food experience. There was one woman who was managing all the tables, seating and serving. We loved it that nothing was rushed and we had plenty of time to savor every bite... I would highly recommend getting the side of fagioli... the best I had while in Italy... still thinking about them.

“Cold Cold Cold. And I'm talking about the feelings not the temperature”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

As in previous reviewer said this place was unfriendly. How unfriendly? It was the worst in our entire trip to Italy!

The waitress, who appears to be one of the owners, turned us away the first night we attempted to dine there. She LITERALLY closed the door in front of us and shook her head no. Wow. Never had that happen before.

The next night we swallowed our pride and returned. This time we got in but others suffered the same fate as we had the night before.

The fellow running the place appeared to be the owner and he and the woman emitted a horrible vibe as though they were married and had a on-going "War of the Roses" fight going on.

Oh, the food? Okay but pricy. But the atmosphere? Freezing with intermittent thunder.

“Avoid place!”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

We dined here only because we had no other choice, and it was mistake of the day! Very unfriendly atmosphere, arrogant waitresses and most important very expensive compare to places 50 meter away down in Via Teatro! It wasnt even tasty! Rip off!

“Excellent Wine and Primi”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

We had dinner here (second seating at 9 pm-2100). It's in an excellent location, across the street from the Duomo and next to the Gran Palazzo. All four of us had been wanting a Florentine Steak, but they are huge and pricey, so we decided to order two - one for each couple. We all ordered from the primi menu and all four were excellent. Our wine, the Nobile di Montepulciano Talosa 2006, was superb. It was, perhaps, the best red wine I've ever tasted. (We tried to buy some at the Talosa tasting room the next day to discover someone from the Wine Spectator had bought all the 2006.)

The steak was a disappointment. It was cooked properly (rare), but was tough. Our shared steak had a large inedible grisley portion. I know that can happen, but considering the price, it should have been excellent. Our dolci, tiramasu, was quite good.

The service was adequate, though certainly not warm. I decided on 4 stars for Ai Quattro Venti because of the wine and primi. If we'd had house wine, this would have been a 3-star experience. Perhaps it was an off night, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.
