We were at this hotel with Newmarket holidays and were disappointed with the standard of accommodation and food. The rooms are of varying quality and the one we had was dingy, no tea or coffee making facilities, no wi fi from our particular room, no English speaking channels to get the news, and the balcony was accessed via the toilet and was tiny. The food was school dinnerish with little choice, we were seated at a table for twelve, so no romantic dinner for us, then! Staff were friendly and did try, but overall we felt like we were on a school trip at the budget end of the market, not what we had expected at all. Be warned!

Clearly once a beauty but is losing its looks, dresses poorly & has not looked after its body.

It is well - located but if management doesn't do anything there are plenty of alternatives close by which will benefit, not least because the town & arera are great
Rooms are dusty as are stairs to the second floor and public areas have cobwebs.
The swimming pool (part indoor / part outdoor) was not open in May, not sure the SPA even existed and the sun terrace had no chairs / tables to use even if you could find the entrance. The grounds have been left to overgrow. What a waste.
This hotel needs investement and TLC.
The staff are really sociable & helpful and well-disposed to Brits (mind you they get plenty of Russians so we must be a welcome relief)
Food varies - we were on a set menu with choices) which we reckon is ok for a 3 *
The a la carte seemed higher standard. Drinks pricey with an uninviting bar seemingly only used by a few Brits.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with connecting doors which are only single thickness so you can hear next door snoring...

We booked with Newmarket Holidays and thought we could trust them but even though our holiday information pack stated that we would have a balcony and use of a sauna, neither existed! The sauna was permanently closed and the entire pool area was dirty and neglected to the point that it was unusable. When I complained to our Newmarket rep, Sarah, she was rude and refused to take on board anything I said. (I wrote to the company whilst we were at the hotel and they refused to accept anything I said - ignoring the false advertising about the balcony and claiming that other facilities such as the sauna/pool were seasonal and depended on the whims of the hotel!!!!!)

The hotel generally must have been impressive in its day, but has clearly been allowed to degenerate. The food was extremely disappointing and on one occasion my wife’s chicken main course consisted of one tiny chicken wing! It was such a shame because the town is absolutely lovely and the region is truly beautiful but take my advice and avoid Newmarket Holidays and above all, avoid this hotel!

Room Tip: Find a different hotel.

Came to the Belvedere hotel Montacatini with Newmarket 12-19th October. Traffic noise first night noticable but tuned out for rest of week. Sure we could have moved rooms if we'd wanted .
We found the staff extremely helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble. Was desperate to watch the England Poland football match which was not being shown on Sky. They managed to stream it down to the hotel's laptop for me to watch via a Spanish web site. Ok, so three or four around a pc is a crowd but at least we saw England win!
Food was OK, room was clean but balcony a bit small. The hotel is convenient to the town centre if you don't mind a 10/15 min walk. Enjoyed the Loved Newmarket Tuscany tours with a really helpful tour guide Frank & Maureen Greenwood.

Staying in this hotel for 4 nights. Hotel is ok, clean, a bit noisy but luckily guests have been sleeping their nights. There is 20 minutes walk to the centrum of the city.
Last night we had lovely lasagna in the hotel's restaurant.

Stayed at this hotel for 1 week with Newmarket holidays. Had a good holiday touring Tuscany (fabulous) using this hotel as the base. Had a single room which was okay and cleaned very well by the maid but the vent in the bathroom, high up on the wall was covered in fluff / mould and the window / shutter in the bedroom was broken which meant I couldn't open it as it banged about in the breeze which meant the room was dark and oppressive. I reported this to reception on the first day but it never got repaired while I was there. Friends staying in other rooms faired better than me. I enjoyed the food which was plentiful and although the restaurant was chaotic the staff tried really hard to give good service. Breakfast was quite basic but okay.
Trying to find staff to get a pre dinner drink was very hard so we usually had to go and hunt someone down most evenings. Thank you Luigi for being so good when we eventually found you.
The pool and area surrounding it was a disgrace, water covered in leaves / debris and hardly any sun loungers. The whole area totally unmaintained.
The reception staff were very helpful and friendly.
Trying to get a snack or drink at the other hotel Newmarket use (name escapes me but it was a 4 star) was impossible as they can't deal in cash. Do yourself a favour and walk the opposite way to the town centre and you will find a shop and a couple of bars in a residential area which were very welcoming and served cheap and excellent drinks and snacks served by charming locals.
I can't fault the staff who seemed to work very hard but this hotel needs to be managed and maintained properly.
Montecatini itself is good and a great base to explore from due to its central location and rail links.
