Spent 2 weeks here and loved it. Rooms are basic and furniture old but rooms large and plenty of space. Cleanliness was amazing. Lounge areas were relaxing and 3 areas to choose from. Pool spotless and the spa area great. Staff may not all have spoken English but did everything they could to help. Not sure why some people are not willing to try and learn the basic phrases. Are all hotel staff in our home countries fluent in Italian? Food was good quality and plentiful but with an emphasis on veal. Salad trolley was a bit bizarre but just their way. Met one family that have been back for 35 years and can see why.

This feels like what it is - a gracious Victorian hotel in an equally gracious Spa town. It's probably the cleanest hotel we've ever stayed in. Pillow cases changed daily! Very traditional service and none the worse for that; the staff being, without exception, pleasant and helpful. We stayed seven days which can be a bit much anywhere as hotel meals tend to be bland. However table d'hote dinners were very good with good choice. We're not great soup lovers but like everything else the soups were "home made" and excellent. Two desserts were automatically provided to each guest (and on one plate) with a bowl of fruit to follow. Breakfast was okay but choice a little limited. The location of the hotel could not have been better. Just far enough to be in the park and outside the centre of Montecatini but only a 10 minute stroll in. We had a spacious bedroom and bathroom with loads of wardrobe and drawer space.
(No reflection on the hotel at all but watch out for biting insects in Tuscany. We didn't and got well bit!)

Very nice hotel, rooms were large with plenty of closet and drawere space. It might have been a bit dated, but very clean with all amenities Since we were on a small guided tour we ate breakfast and dinners there. They were very accomodating and the waitresses were super and aimed to please, It almost felt like I was a part of Douwton Abbey, quite old fashion in many ways. Pasta was good, second course, not so good, desserts wonderful! Grounds were beautiful and relaxing. There was a beautiful pool, but the water was cold in May, so we didn't use it. Hot tub/spa was luke warm with nice jets and we did enjoy splashing around. it could have been warmer. All in all, they had a nice staff, but wish they spoke or understood english better. It was hard to get information from them. Walking distance to town and train station and a good spot to do day trips from. We enjoyed taking the Funicular which was close to the hotel up to Alta Montecatini which had several restaurants and a wonderful view of the city. . I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant we went to in Montacatini Alta, it was the first restaurant on the right as you approached the restaurant area. What a great and accomodating staff. We gave him idea of what we were looking for and he put a very appetizing tray of finger foods together for four of us to share and a wondewrful Spritz to go with it. The town is quiet and not as touristy as some and we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: All rooms were a little different. Noone in our group complained about their room and they all appea...

Myself and 2 colleagues stayed at The Astoria last night on business-NEVER AGAIN!!
Pluses-lovely gentleman on reception
Negatives-served "fish and chips" and charged €20! Rushed through dinner by staff preparing tables for the morning. Final straw being chastised by the owner for daring to want to check out at 6.50am as we were on a tight schedule. We were even happy to call them later with payment details over the phone but told we MUST wait until 7am.
Clearly "customer is king" is not their ethos.
Coupled with shabby without the chic and some DIY lightswitch hanging over my headboard with bare wires exposed and a shower that did a better job of cleaning the ceiling.
No thanks never ever again!

Dear Sir,
very strange the life, try to be polite also more of normal and receive this kind or review....
About fish and cheeps at the restautant, We never served, probably you order fried fresh fish with potatoes, with wine and water, served with silver cutlery and tablecloths fine, and isn't the same..........
But, I really can't understand the second part of your review, You was disappointed about the check out at 01.00 am, when I remember to be wake up (I was sleeping) and came in hotel to let You check out. Maybe You could tell us before, maybe before dinner, You had to have check out during the night, or maybe You could just leave the credit card. But, I wake up, come again in hotel in the middle of the night, and for You is not enough..... I repeat, the life is strange, bye bye!!!

We stayed in Astoria for 12 nights with my family and we were not disappointed with our decision in choosing this hotel. I loved the location and proximity to Tettuchio spa. The hotel staff really demonstrated true Italian hospitality. They made everything to make our stay very comfortable and special. Everyone in the hotel was very friendly and helpful. We experienced a great customer service in all areas. They even helped me to arrange my doctor appointment in the spa, and navigating through busy spa when I arrived.
I was very impressed by the hotel's grounds and how well it was maintained. Outdoor breakfast area was fabulous, with a lot of flowers and lemon trees. My favorite was the hotel's swimming pool with jacuzzi area and hydrobike where we could relax in afternoons. Food in general was good, the dessert was outstanding. This is the hotel that I would definetely recommend and will return in future.
