We stayed here for four weeks in June during which time our son and his family and a friend from London joined us for a week. The property is stunning, with lovely grounds and a beautiful pool (unheated). The interior is furnished in Tuscan style with wonderful antique furniture. There are expansive views of hills and valleys. It is a little noisy at times because the very narrow and winding road to the town requires drivers to frequently sound their horn.
We found the kitchen a little inconvenient for doing much cooking as there is very little counter space and the large gas cooktop (electric ovens) was rather temperamental. Although there were several cupboards of cooking utensils, most of them were not in good repair so we purchased quite a few items in the nearby town as well as kitchen knives. Also, unlike other villas we've rented in Italy and France, there were no staples provided. Most places have things like salt, flour, olive oil etc. for when one first arrives but this property had nothing at all in that area so we had to immediately drive into the town to pick up basic necessities.
There is a washing machine and a rack for outdoor drying which worked well.
When we first arrived we found all the doors squeaking, and some light bulbs out but the owners responded very quickly when we mentioned these small problems. The two cleaning women were very personable and did a reasonable job of cleaning and bed changing etc. once a week.
There are many excellent restaurants a short drive away and the location is good for trips to Lucca, Florence, Pisa and many other towns.
