We stayed for a week for a business conference held in the city. The room was big enough for two, linens were changed every day (sometimes twice), staff is very helpful in directing you where you need to go and even interceded in helping me get my mis-directed luggage from the airlines.
The food is excellent, it's a good deal to pay the rate for room and breakfast...you can also pay for room that includes dinner too but we like to experience the local restaurants and it's cheaper to go out and find your own place. However, we did join friends one evening and had a lovely 3 course meal with wine. The meal is a set price of E 40, 00 and wine is extra ($ E4,50 per person for us).
What we didn't like-
the room was never cooler than 27 degrees celsius--we started turning off the air conditioner and opening our balcony door to keep the room cool through the night--in June it cools off at night I don't know about later.
When you ask the price of something....get it written down...we heard E8,00 but in reality it was E 80,00......big sticker shock! If we had asked it to be written down....we would have known it was E 80,00! Our mistake.

Overall, this is a nice hotel, centrally located within walking distance of the train station and a lot of restaurants and shops. There is an outdoor market off of Corsa Roma and Viale Verdi....nice items and we found reasonable prices and some deals (100% cotton tablecloth for our patio table E 5,00!)

We (2 couples) had a memorable reception when arriving in the hotel. The hotel officals knew we were coming by car from Finland because of flight cancellations of the Iceland ash burst. We lost two nights in the beginning but they were fully compensated to us and even we were given excellent suites for free. The service could not have been better.
Golf course was near with excellent green fee reduction and layout was good but to get there navigator is recommended as we had.
The Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in all matters.
The hotel restaurant was very good as was the breakfast with soft music in the background.

I have just returned to Ireland from the Travel Department holiday in Tuscany and Umbria. This hotel has many of the features I have previously experienced in italian hotels. The rooms are clean but with a faded grandeur. Antique furniture past its better days, peeling paint and cracked ceilings. I object to none of this and feel it is part of the italian experience in some ways. The bathroom was terribly small. If you stepped back from the basin, you were liable to fall backwards into the toilet and the shower was in the bath with rusting fittings. Again I could live with this. The rooms are spotless and the maids good at their job. The breakfast is good and the dinners (half board agreed menu) adequate and filling. The service in the restaurant, however, is the worst I have ever experienced in Italy. We were seated for dinner at 7.30 each evening and were not finished dinner until nearly ten o'clock. This was due to the appallingly slow service. Again, this is forgivable, in view of the good company and conversation of our dining companions, but the attitude of one waiter in particular was unacceptable. Two girls at our table were left waiting for their bottle of water for the best part of an hour, despite repeated requests and reminders to the waiter, who threw his eyes up to heaven each time and then proceeded to saunter off to do something else entirely. Only an irate intervention by another at the table ( a man who spoke italian) eventually produced the bottle of water which was dumped on the table without a word of apology. Another unfortunate woman requested a missing fork which was literally thrown at her by the same waiter. I note that there are complaints about this waiter on this site going back at least as far as 2008 and am surprised that his attitude is tolerated by management. I think it is a great pity that most members of the group had bad experiences with staff in this hotel as it has much going for it, in particular its excellent location. While I understand that cheap deals as part of a tour may result in a lower standard of accommodation and a more restricted choice of menu, common courtesy costs nothing at all and should be paid to all guests of the hotel regardless of their origin or status.

Just returned from a week visiting Tuscany based at this hotel. The hotel was probably very elegant in its time but is now very tired. Being part of a large group we were obliged to dine together promptly at 7.30pm when a 4 course meal was served. The pasta was always good and served after a salad course. (soup was offered as an alternative). The main dish was edible but uninspiring; similarly the dessert. Tap water was refused so had to buy bottled water. Coffee/tea would have been appreciated at the end of dinner but was not an option. The small hotel bar served coffee but could not have coped with 40 (our group) plus other groups converging after dinner! The dining room staff were adequate at serving (in most cases) but extremely efficient at clearing up breakfast items even before the end time! So don't consider lying in ......
The pool area was in need of attention with weeds growing in between paving stones; the water was too cold for swimming; but this may have been attributed to the poor May weather.
Bedrooms: There were no coffee/tea facilities in the bedrooms. The televisions were old and tv reception, if you were fortunate to have any, produced mainly foreign language channels (Fox news channel was available to a few rooms for 2 nights then it, too disappeared) The internet also was a hit or miss.
Definitely not a 4* hotel. No incentive to return.

We stayed two nites while with a tour group. Hotel lobby is quite grand but rooms are just average. Nice size, multi leveled rooms with good sized bath and small terrace but could use some updating. Unfortunately for us, we happened to be just over the hotel entry and street where it was at minimum, very loud until the wee hours of morning. Nice breakfast buffet
