“Look Under the mattress”
Reviewed October 23, 2011

Stayed here for a week as part of a package Tour. The Hotel would be fine for overnight but not great for longer stay.
Imagine our surprise when we looked under the mattress and found that this is where the "Old Wardrobe Doors" are kept.(see photo)

Spent a week here as part of a tour of Tuscany. This is the 4th time I have been in this area staying at different hotels.

The hotel is in a good location close to the train and bus station (a couple of minutes walk away) and access to the motorway. It is also only a five minute walk to the centre of the town. Staff were friendly and helpful and made you feel welcome.

There is a safe at the front reception desk but the key for this is held by one person so you should plan ahead if you use it. Remember to pick up anything in the safe the day before you leave as this person doesn't start till after 9am in the morning.

Bedrooms were clean and tidy with reasonable sized en suite.

Unless you have one of the bedrooms on the higher floors then your views from the windows are a bit limited. (see photo)

The bedroom we had did not have air conditioning and we had to leave the window open to cool the room down. There is a lot of street noise up to midnight and then again from 0530hrs - with the window closed you could hardly hear it. There are a lot of hotels in this street and surrounding area so there are a lot of coaches and guests coming and going at various times of the day and evening..

I would highly recommend that you ask for a bedroom with air conditioning. Some of the other guests however reported that the air conditioning units were noisy and that you needed to ask for a remote control from the reception to control it.

There were places where a touch of paint was needed to spruce the area up a bit but overall it was a reasonably well decorated, clean and spacious hotel.

Breakfast consisted of cereals, rolls, cold meat, cheese, jam, tea, coffee and fruit juices just like most european hotels. The dinners were plain and consisted of 2 choices for each course and there was plenty to eat - make sure that you tell staff if you can't eat meat and they will provide an alternative of salad, fish or cheese dishes.

Overall Montecatini Terme is an ideal location to utilise as a centre to tour the Tuscany area (Pisa and Florence are about 1 hour drive away). There are a large number of hotels in the town and this one is about par for the 3 star market throughout the town. It is boosted by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff (although they know very little English but then again I know very little Italian)

Room Tip: Ask for a room with air conditioning

Located in centre of montecatini Terme wich is close to florence, Pisa, Siena and other wanderful places. Elegant hall, active reception and good cleaness. Requested a original "Fiorentina" 500 gr., surcharge of 10 euro, but fantastic meet and Chianti wine. Room was large with tv and air conditionning. Wi.Fi free in the lobby. Staying 1 weeck can have for free a sauna and a massage in fitness centre inside the hotel.
Hope return next year.

This is a small family run hotel in a good location for the town and railway station.
Our stay was seven nights but the majority of the people were in transit through Tuscany/ Italy staying only one night (B&B). This made for noisy early morning and late night foot traffic.

Our room was small with ensuite shower room ( small) and basic toilet facilities. The airconditioning was ok and necessary. The TV worked but no UK channels. There are larger rooms available.

The restaurant served a basic continental breakfast and an evening meal of salad, then soup or pasta, followed by veal or chicken with potatoes and a small sweet. House wine was priced at 9euros. The service was friendly, however not much english was spoken.

Bar provided basic needs, for alcohol and coffee, the night porter was very obliging. It was a short walk to bars and cafes if that didn't suit.

No internet, Free Wi-fi available in town if you needed it. Didn't find the advertised sauna.

Hotel basic but clean. Food was terrible and limited choice. Thought there was a sauna and solarium but there was not.
