“Great.”
Reviewed May 1, 2014

After a horrible day travelling I was super happy to arrive at my hotel. Even more so when I say my room. It was huge! And had an amazing view of the mountains. The room was clean and fresh, as was the bathroom. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, and happy to have a chat and give advice about the town. The pool and surrounds were also a very nice spot to relax.

Although the interior of this hotel is somewhat tired it is extremely central for whatever you want to do in Montecatini. The staff are lovely, and although their extent of English isn't wonderful, we were always able to make ourselves understood. Our Italian was much less efficient than their English!!
I would recommend getting the little funicular railway up to Montecatini Alto. The views are wonderful from the village up there. Most especially from a restaurant called Window on the World. The food is awesome, and the tables at the terrace overlook the valley below. Absolutely breathtaking at sunset. Be careful you don't miss the last train down to Terme though !!!
Definitely a good point to stay where you can easily get the train to Florence, Lucca or the other direction to the coast.

We traveled from Serbia almost 1100 km by car with one stop in Slovenia. Not too much hard on that way. We stayed in Hotel Biondi for 4 days and it was very nice. With huge effort from hotel staff, especially by Andrea's advices, we have visited almost all interesting places in closer neighborhood of Montecatini. What to say about Florence (one hour by train), beautiful town Lucca, amazing Pisa and else. We did all in 4 day. Amazing. We had a half board in hotel, breakfast and dinner and it was enough for us because we have been every day in different place for a lunch. Room was clean and with interesting interior with a nice view to the street in from of hotel. Hotel has a garage and our car was in safe place hidden from sun too.
What to say else, thank you Andrea, we had a short but great holiday in Tuscany. Hope we will visit you again. All the best, Tanja and Dragan, Novi Sad, Serbia

We stayed one night and although this hotel is rated as a four stars we found it to be less than that. Room was humid and had an old smell as a matter of fact. the furniture looks like it was in the years 40-50 Maybe we ended up in this room because we where part of a group, but nervertheless,We had difficulty to sleep because of that. we would recommend this place, only if you ensure to have a decent room

I stayed at this hotel in September 2013 for a week as part of a group of single travellers and found it to be well run and comfortable. The location was excellent, offering easy access to the lovely town of Montecatini Terme, its railway station and a very pleasant park. The staff were friendly and efficient...the restaurant staff in particular. The rooms were comfortable as were the public areas The conservatory in the Annex provided an excellent space to find peace and quiet. I didn't have time to swim in the pool but friends said it was very pleasant. The food was generally good although we only ate dinner twice in the restaurant. I would recommend this hotel to friends and would return if I was in the area again.

We have just returned from staying 4 days as part of a coach tour of Italy. This was by far the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We were offered room 21 which was placed in what was termed The Annex. To get to the room you had to pass a brand new lounge come sitting area and a lovely indoor swimming pool, clearly this is where any money has been spent because the rooms were dreadful, in room 21 there was no working air conditioning and there was a notice to say please do not open the shutters for your own safety(What is that about?)
So we complained that this room was not good enough and was offered another which was only slightly better but the air conditioning worked.
The room was tatty hairdryer hanging off the wall, wiring to the light fitting exposed, crack in toilet seat, and aluminium beds with springs and lumpy matresses. The food was disgusting worse that school dinners, no room in the dining room as the chairs were all up against the row behind so the waitress had to pass bowls of soup over peoples heads, watered down squash in the fruit juice machine with plastic cups.
A complaint was made by our tour guide and the hotel offered free wine and water at dinner whats the good of that to people who dont drink wine.

We stayed at the Hotel Biondi for 4 days as part of a coach tour of Italy. This was by far the worst hotel we stayed at during the 11 days we touring.
Staff - Welcome on arrival was ok. Staff apart from one who we think was probably the manager and was dour if not sour were quite pleasant. One lady on reception was really pleasant and helpful with information and maps of the immediate area.
Rooms -Our room on the third floor was acceptable but not very good. It was a good size but very dark even with the curtains and wooden blinds fully open. It looked out on the side of an adjoining hotel for the most part with the kitchens down below under a glass topped veranda. There was a partial view of the rear of adjoining hotels and an empty swimming pool. Mountains in the far distance could be seen with an effort. The bed linen was clean but the cover on top had evidence of past staining. The bath room was clean but the bath/shower had no shower curtain. The shower within the bath was really too low to be of much use. A radiator in the bathroom (not needed because of the temperature in Italy) was badly discoloured and rusty. We turned the air conditioning unit off because it was too noisy.
Others in our party did not fare so well with their rooms and many had to be moved. There was a mixture of dirty rooms, blocked and dirty shower heads, faulty air conditioning etc. Some of the guests were in an annex and did not fare much better. There was a new swimming pool complex which we did not use but understand was excellent but in my view the money would have been better spent on sorting out the rooms which are important for guests. A quick glance into rooms which were being cleaned showed that there were some better rooms available possible for non tour guests!
Food - The food while edible was not the best and presentation was dreadful. The morning coffee had to be obtained from a machine which did not always work properly. Soft drinks and water were also from a machine with very small plastic cups which were only half filled. The dining room in itself was fine but with about 200+ guests it was very noisy. There were insufficent waiting staff to cope with these numbers and although the waiting staff were friendly everything apeared to be a muddle and there did not appear most of the time to be anybody supervising. The waiting staff doubled up as room cleaners etc and they did not give the impression that they were trained waiters.
General
Our tour guides/drivers were appalled at the situation and I know tried to get us moved to another hotel (an impossible task at the time of year). The hotel management did not seem to care much about the situiation. We were eventually compensated for the problems by the provision of free wine and bottled water for the duration of our visit. It turned out that the Tour Company had unusually not checked the hotel out themselves but relied on another tour company. It has been made clear that they will not use this hotel again and will not rely on other tour companies for checking.

On the plus side the town itself was very good and there were some good restaurants and places to eat. The old town up the Funicular railway was well worth a visit.

Finally this was shown as a 4 star hotel. In our view it barely merited a 2. It will not see us again.

Room Tip: Sadly my only tip is not to go.
