Description: The Foresta restaurant, like the hotel, is open all year round and is part of the club of typical Trentino inns. This entails following some strict rules that are imposed by the club and which guarantee the genuine nature and above all the origin of all products used in the preparation of dishes. The menu is rich and varied and offers a wide choice of starters, first and second courses and desserts that are linked to the ancient recipes of the Trentino area. Fruit, vegetables, meat and cheese are for the most part locally produced. This enables us to serve fresh dishes that are full of Trentino flavours. From the wine cellar it is possible to combine the right wine to every menu by choosing from our list which includes more than five hundred labels. The only thing left to say is "Buon appetito" (Enjoy your meal)!

“Essential in Val di Fassa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

Very nice restaurant.
Gastronomical, with still fair prices.
Very nice wine selection: if you're interested, the cellar is a real museum, focused mostly on the Trentino and Alto Adige wines.
The owner is really nice.
Michelin Bib Gourmand well deserved

Gentile ospite,
Cordiali saluti
Schacher Walter

“Excellent classical Trentino restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2012

The Albergo Ristorante Foresta nestles into the hillside at a narrow point of the Val di Fassa, some way out of Moena on the main road to Predazzo. The setting may offer only limited views of the Dolomites, but the quality of the restaurant ensures that we go back every time we are in the region.

The restaurant was refurbished and extended a few years ago in the local style of wood panelling, with part of the walls hand decorated with Alpine scenes, the tables spread with white table clothes and napkins.

There is always a warm welcome, the service is attentive, courteous and correct, the waiter in black jacket and tie, the ladies in long dresses in local costume. You are greeted with a complementary glass of prosecco and a basket of unusual little bread products to nibble at while you wait.

This is the place to be if you want to try the local cuisine, a blend of the Italian and the Austro-Germanic, spaghetti with sauces of mushrooms or game, like hare or venison, meat cooked in sauce made from the local red wine, mountain trout in various forms, accompanied by polenta, potatoes or salad from the extensive buffet. The trout in orzotto mantecato (boiled barley, like risotto) is very good, and if you chose this and pay a supplement, you get to take home a special plate as a record of your meal. The restaurant takes part in regular events to highlight the use of local cheeses and other local ingredients in their cooking. Prices are reasonable, given the quality of the surroundings, the presentation and the cooking.

The wine list is extensive, heavily weighted towards some excellent wines of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, at prices which reflect relatively little mark-up relative to retail. The proprietor will give you a tour of his cellar on appointment, you can buy the wines retail, and if you can’t manage to finish your bottle, there is a bag to take the remains away in.

The restaurant is closed on Fridays, and it is advisable to book at busy times. Otherwise, the restaurant is open all the year round, except possibly for a couple of weeks just before the start of the summer tourist season.
