The Hotel is not actually in Venice but in Mestre, only a short journey away by bus. If you're looking for a comfortable cheaper alternative then this is ideal, if it was in Venice it would be much more expensive. The bus to Venice and Mestre (which is also worth a visit) was just outside the hotel although I didnt find it very regular. Many websites list the hotel as being "10 mins away" - that may be the case if you've been lucky enough to time the bus right, if it doesnt stop and your final destination is the bus station in Venice, I'd say you should give yourself 30-40mins to get there. The hotel is also on a busy dual carriage way and the journey from the hotel to the strip of road to Venice was through some Indrustrial areas, it wouldnt be a nice or easy walk. Also, tranport wise, there didnt seem to be many cabs/taxi's about apart from dedicated taxi ranks. There were none based at the hotel and I twice stood for a bus for 40 mins and didnt see one. Although the hotel could call you one or you could use their courtesy bus for 14 euros (which twice a day would still work out much cheaper than staying in Venice).

The Garden Inn is very modern and spotlessly clean and it would be hard to criticise the look and feel of it. The receptionists were also very pleasant and professional. The rooms were ultra modern, with hardwood flooring with a desk and office chair ideal for working. The only comment about the room and I'm not sure if all are the same but my bath was in a recess which you needed very long arms to turn the taps on or to perch on the top to do it. If you're immobile in any way it would be best to check what your room has. I'm not sure why a modern purpose build hotel has a bath like this - it looks like they planned to have a shower but their builders bought baths instead.

Breakfast and dinner in the hotel was ok. There seems to be lots of comments about the restaurant next door, which the receptionist also recommended to me rather than the one in the hotel. It's called Primavera and it's a hotel - read the reviews, they're all correct! I wouldnt recommend it, although it appears to be the only alternative to the hotel that you can walk to. It was like a dated roadside cafe, the staff were grumpy and the food was very average. If you don't want to travel, I'd stick with the hotel restuartant.

Annoying things were being unable to control the aircon from the room, I didnt understand their explanation for this. What guests are meant to do is to call reception for them to alter it remotely - which they said they were happy to do and were there 24 hours a day to do. Also there was no mini bar in the room and the alternative given for that was the bar in the restaurant - but at 10Euros for one drink it didnt seem discounted for the effort to go downstairs and get it.

If you're happy with the extra effort to get into Venice by public transport or the additional cost and planning for taxi's then I'd recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Busy road to the front.

The reasonable prices and free parking hooked me for this hotel...but I will never stay here again. It is by the side of a noisy highway, which does not make for a relaxing poolside afternoon. Getting into the heart of Venice takes about 30 minutes by bus, but from there you'll probably spend another 30-45 minutes getting to where you want. The busses stop running relatively early (around 11pm, and aren't very frequent after 9pm), so getting back can be a hassle - and get ready to be packed in like a sardine. If you take a taxi it will cost about €35. When I travel I like to go about during the day, then stop back at the hotel for a rest before going out to dinner. With this hotel that was not an option because of the length of time it takes to go back and forth from the centre of Venice. The hotel itself is fine - Hilton chain, helpful staff, clean, spacious, and lacking all soul.

Room Tip: Don't stay here. Stay on the islands of Venice.

At first I felt bad to not actually stay in Venice. This was my first trip with my fiancée but after watching people bang their luggage up and down the bridges and push through all the crowds to find a hotel I was extremely glad to be 5 minutes away. The hotel is new and beautiful and very well appointed for the short term traveler. The bus stops directly in front of the hotel and is only $2.60EU roundtrip which is much cheaper than the $25EU one way with taxi. Hotel staff is very friendly and know all the tips and tricks for getting around Venice during your stay. I highly recommend this location as I'm a frequent traveler and decided to use my hotel reward points for a couple of nights at the Holiday Inn on the other side of the train station which I certainly wouldn't wish upon anyone.

Charming hotel, the bus stop is outside the door, it takes you to San Roma Piazza which is situated about 500 metres to the place where you catch the water taxi for Venice. You can purchase your tickets at the reception. For 16 Euros you have a day pass until 9p.m, you can hop on and off as many times as you like. They have a small convenience shop in the lobby as well as free coffee, tea or chocolate. we did not use any of the facilities but we were very happy of our stay. The only inconvenience is that for English programs on TV, you can only get BBC Sky News and CNN from the USA, they do also have a French speaking channel. As we are TV buffs, we would have liked to have seen a late movie or a good comedy show before retiring. There is quite a variety of food at breakfast, fresh fruit and different flavour of honey jam, a first for us but it is nice.

The hotel is great....... I like the size of their rooms.... The cleanliness was decent... I found some hairs on the towels.... Could have been during the drying cycle..... The room bed was very very comfortable.... The view was also nice.... The lobby restaurant was also great.... You can take a local bus from the hotel to piazza de roma and walk into venice... I would most definitely stay here again

Room Tip: Remember that its better to stay closer to the airport than venice itself.....
