“Not too happy..”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2013

We just arrived from Florence where we had just stayed in an amazing boutique hotel. So arriving to The Best Western was a little bit of a shock to the system. Not fair to them really! But it really is not what I had expected. I booked it as it had fantastic trip advisor write ups. It is a standard hotel. Rooms have no character, the beds are uncomfortable, you have to run around the shower to try and get wet. The walls are paper thin and our cuboard is a curtain!! Staff are friendly enough. Breakfast was horrible and the coffee was even worse. The area is a litttle dodgy too. The one good thing is that it is right across the road to the train station so you can get out and see the beautiful Venice.

Room Tip: We at least had a room that had been refurbished recently.

This place was immaculately clean and modern with a GREAT bathroom. Desk staff was courteous and spoke English very well. The location was excellent -- right across the street from the Venezia Mestre train station. Breakfast was a nice buffet complete with eggs and bacon. There are also two restaurants in the hotel, and both were very good, especially Ristorante DaTura. Room was large with desk space. Also, there was coffee pot and free Nescafe provided in the room.

I recommend this hotel for those who do not wish to spend a lot of money staying in the city of Venice. We were able to access Venice easily by train. It cost 1.2 Euros one way, takes about 12 minutes of travel time, and trains run every 10 or 15 minutes. Once at the train station in Venice, one can get around the city easily by vaporetto, water taxi or walking (where possible).

Also, from Mestre it is very easy to visit other cities, so this hotel and location make a lot of sense if Venice is not your only interest in this area. For example, Padova, with its important fresco collection, is only about 20 minute away and costs 2.85 Euros per person one way. Vicenza, the hometown of Palladio and filled with examples of his fine architecture, was only 40 minutes away and cost 5.70 Euros per person one way.

Additionally, this is a great spot to stay when leaving by airplane. There is a comfortable bus shuttle to the airport with a stop about 2 blocks from the hotel. It costs 6 Euros and reaches Marco Polo airport in about 20 minutes.

I highly recommend this hotel. HIGHLY.

This hotel - the rooms, the staff, the service, the breakfast were all absolutely fantastic. Modern, spacious, free wifi, all outstanding as other reviewers have outlined. The hotel is right across the street from the train station, and every train is going to or from Venice so there is never a problem getting one. The problem is if you are here to see Venice, Mestre is not Venice. Mestre is the outskirts of Chicago, or London or ... It is not pretty, it is not tourist focused. Fortunately though the hotel is, and they do everything to make life easy for you. It is much easier and cheaper to get to and from the airport to Mestre than a hotel in Venice. It just depends what you are after. If you want a modern American style hotel and don't mind travelling in to Venice, then you should definitely consider staying here. However if you want to experience the romance and quirks of Venice, then there are better choices.

Stayed Sept 7 & 8. If you do not want to stay in Venice itself this is a good choice. Hotel located across the street from bus station from airport and train station. 10 minute ride to Santa Lucia train station in Venice...about 2 Euros each way. You are then right at the top of the Grand Canal and boats (Vaporettos) are right outside the station. Train tickets can be bought at the hotel desk. You must scan/stamp your own ticket at machines beside track before getting on train. Sometimes confusing to get on right train. All stop at Mestre but DO NOT get on first class carriage or you can be fined! Again, leaving Venice most trains stop at Mestre. Hotel is clean, quiet, very good breakfast and excellent restaurant. Do not order both first course (pasta) and second course (ex: grilled chicken) unless you are REALLY hungry...huge portions!

Stayed here for six nights. This is the most complete I could imagine: clean and spacious room, a mammoth bathroom with the latest plumbing, including a bidet, ultra modern design, quiet, great location, a wonderful restaurant, an attentive and very helpful staff, and a fabulous breakfast buffet. Must see to believe. A superb package all around. Highly recommended.

We stayed in this hotel for one night in September. I stayed with my husband and 19 month old daughter. I chose this hotel because it was easy to get to, we had spent a week elsewhere in Italy and had two big suitcases + pram, I didn't fancy lugging it all on and off boats to stay in central Venice. The location was ideal. The hotel was easy to find, we had a hire car and parked it in the hotel car park it costs 10euro for 24 hours, but this is reasonable given the location of the hotel. The hotel is opposite the train station, the trains are every couple of minutes and it takes ~10min to get into Venice. You can buy train tickets at the hotel reception.

The hotel is modern, our room was large, it was clean, the bathroom was very nice and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was good and there were a number of options. The staff were friendly and helpful, they gave my daughter a teddy when we arrived which I taught was a nice touch. I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in a good quality hotel which is affordable, while visiting Venice.

Stayed here for 4 nights a few weeks back and have nothing but good things to say. More than anything, the location is excellent. It's literally across the street from the main entrance to the train station. Trains to Venice run almost nonstop, and you're in Venice in anywhere from 8-12 minutes. Trains also run late into the night so you're not rushed to get back.

The hotel itself is good. Nothing exceptional and certainly nothing bad either. It's your standard property with good sized rooms, average beds (I must say the pillows were pretty uncomfortable), and a clean bathroom, which is probably the most important to us.

The breakfast was also adequate, nothing out of the ordinary, basic continental breakfast to get your day started. There are many places to eat right outside the hotel and a convenience store to get water or snacks for the kids, etc.

The staff were friendly and helpful - and readily gave feedback when asked.

For the cost and convenience, can't recommend this place any higher.
