We stayed in the Ambasciatori Hotel a few weeks ago. Although the décor is retro, well old fashioned, we found the hotel clean. We received a fair sized room with a good firm bed with free working Wi-Fi, a safe, a fridge and a small flat screen TV. The bedroom was fine for the two of us, well we only slept in it and the bathroom was fine. The staff was fine, as well as being polite and helpful. They were certainly less snobby than the people in Venice itself. The reception sells bus tickets for the 4L bus that goes directly to Plaza Roma in Venice, yes it takes only ten minutes and yes there seems no concept of queueing, well there’s none where I live either.
The breakfast was fine, the usual choice on the continent; eggs (don’t eat them so can’t comment), ham , salami, cheese, yoghurt, cereal and coffee (also don’t drink), it was fine for us. The surrounding neighbourhood was very quiet and seemed perfectly safe, being mainly residential. The PAM supermarket was great for snacks for our day-trips, because Venice is dear! The nearby gelato just had some of the best ice-creams and cakes ever, and the two nearby pizza places were also fantastic.
Overall the Ambasciatori was good value for money, it was fine for us, but I suppose it depends on some people’s standards.
