This hotel was very easy to reach by bus from Marco Polo airport, just across the street from the bus terminal and the train station. Check in was quick, staff friendly, informative and helpful ,our room was on the sixth floor, it did tend to be a bit warm but we just opened the window and it was fine. There was a good selection for breakfast and once we had filled up the station was across the road with quick transport to Venice. Would happily stay at this hotel again

We were 2 adults with 1 child staying at this hotel for 3 nights and we opted for the Nova family room.
We arrived into Treviso airport as we were flying with Ryanair and with only hand luggage, it was fairly quick and convenient to get out of the airport and onto the bus/coach station where we took a 20 minute Barzi coach journey straight outside the Hotel Plaza (oppositte Mestre Station).

Upon arrival, the hotel lobby looked better than we had expected, very clean and modern and we were greeted with friendly staff. Unlike other hotels, there were no porters taking our bags up to our room or showing us around, however, there were lifts and it was easy to access our rooms.

The room itself was large and airy with two king sized beds and finished to a high standard. The bathroom was also beautiful and had a walk-in monsoon shower fitted in, however, I was slightly disappointed to see no bathtub.
There was also a hairdryer provided in the bathroom but I usually take my own on holidays with me as the ones in the hotels aren't always so great but this time I didn't even need to unpack mine as I was very satisfied with the one already there.
We didn't have space in our luggage to pack an iron but took the advice of other reviewers and had phoned the reception when we needed one and they came with an iron and ironing table straight away.

The hotel room did have a mini-bar fridge but hardly any more space to put anything else in there besides their products, which was a problem as we wanted to store our own bottled water and drinks in there (we have a picky 3 year old plus saves having to pay extortionate prices).
We also did not have a kettle with tea and coffee facilities in the room, which was a downside too.

The breakfast was great with a good variety of foods, definitely not to miss! We haven't managed to try the soul kitchen but it did look lovely inside.

The location of the hotel was brilliant with frequent buses to and from venice and of course right opposite the mestre train station. There were plenty of shops and people around which made us feel safe too.

Our flight back to London was at 9:55pm and check out is usually at 12 noon, they could have extended it for another hour for free but we didn't feel the need to as they had a baggage room where they would keep our things, which meant we had another day to tour around venice freely.

Overall, we enjoyed our comfortable stay here, we loved the modern decor and did not have the need to complain about anything, we would definitely stay here again if we were to go back to Venice.

We got a number 15 bus from the airport and it takes you directly to this hotel. The tickets cost 5 euros each and when you get on the bus you must validate your ticket on one of the machines on the bus.

The good bit: Our first room at this hotel was lovely; large, well decorated and had a beautiful bathroom. It faced directly onto the road outside and beyond that the rail lines and beyond that an industrial area. No problem. However, when we couldn't turn the aircon down, then we did have a problem. It was almost tropical and very uncomfortable. We phoned reception, they sent a man, he said it was 'closed', which we assumed meant broken. We were able to change our room, but this one was no-where near as large, or comfy and had a poky bathroom with garish orange and royal blue tiles. Also every time we opened the door into the bathroom we hit the bidet, which was directly behind the door. It was however, immaculately clean and the shower (no bath) in the little cubicle was good, although it did go hot and cold in the mornings! Also note: I wish I had taken shampoo and body wash - you get a tiny sliver of soap and then an even smaller sachet of shampoo/body wash and it's not pleasant. This room faced onto the back of the hotel and the view was pretty grim, but as we were there to visit Venice it was not too much of a bother. We did have a TV but could only get Italian or Russian channels apart from BBC world news. There were no tea or coffee making facillities in the room - something we both really missed...so we had to raid the mini fridge for water.
The breakfast was very acceptable, although the sausages looked a bit suspect and neither my husband or I were temped by them. There were cheeses, cold meats, pastries, breads, fruits, yoghurt - plain, low or full fat, cereal a plenty, along with the 'cooked' options of bacon, scrambled eggs and those dumpy little sausages. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate came out of a machine - the latte was disgusting, but English teabags in the hot water provided from the machine tasted just fine. There was also a fruit juice machine. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We spent every evening in the Soul Cafe/Resturant and loved it. First we started off in the cafe/bar area and people watched - it was also the haunt of many locals. Then we trotted the few feet into the main restaurant and indulged in their small but fantastic menu. We loved watching the cooking of food going on it the 'open' kitchen and can honestly say that every meal we had was delicious. We didn't think it was too badly priced with most 'mains' being between 8 and 15 euros. Again the staff were helpful, funny and professional.

The bad bit: Mestre is not a pleasant area at all. While we were there we got 'bothered' by 'foreign' (African, middle eastern) chaps trying to sell us 'gold' watches, necklaces etc, They approached, opened their coats and well, tried to persuade us to buy. We didn't. Also, we did not feel safe walking in Mestre at night. We did try it the first night, but we did see some very dubious looking characters in doorways - doing drugs, we think, and on the benches and we both felt uneasy. Alas there is nothing really to see or do in Mestre anyway...it's sort of dirty and has a 'back street' feel to it. Litter everywhere, graffitti and just not pleasant at all.

As everyone else has said, the train station is opposite the hotel and tickets to Venice are cheap. Go onto the main platform and buy your tickets from the newspaper kiosk - no waiting or queuing, but do remember to get your tickets validated on one of the numerous machines they have scattered around. You need to do this with all tickets. The train service is fast and efficient and frequent.
Venice was OK - not as I remembered it and there are beggars on nearly every street. The 'gift' shops are all full of the same junk and seem to be run by the same group of asian people. The only difference being, the closer you get to ST Marks SQ, the more expensive the tat becomes, although it is all identical! There are, of course, some beautiful deisigner shops; Chanel, Dior etc and some fab jewellery shops...but they are VERY expensive as is everything in St Marks Sq. Again here, there are the 'street sellers', to use a nice phrase, who want to sell you knock off designer handbags, or toys. Now these guys get REALLY insistent if you show any interest at all. My advice is ignore them. We saw a poor young woman get totally harassed and close to tears by one of these chaps and he blocked her path every time she tried to walk away. Believe me these guys are agressive and intimidating, although it would appear the police are aware of them and they scarper pretty quickly when their look out man does his job.

Just one more thing: Beware of the gnats in the rooms. They are vicious little beggars!

I cannot find anything to complain about. The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms clean, quiet and comfortable.
Very easy access to Venice. There is help in the train station to buy tickets , it's all easy and when you reach Venice it's a lovely walk to St Marks Square. If you don't fancy walking the water bus is outside the station.
We had full days in Venice and then returned to the hotel to change for dinner. A cocktail in the bar at The Bologna Hotel over the road is great and then hop back over to The Plaza for dinner. The food and service there is very good.
My advice is to get lost in Venice. You stumble across the most wonderful things , you can be quiet if you want and then get involved with the rush. And at carnival time it was amazing!

Room Tip: Worth an upgrade to superior.

Everybody agrees, this hotel is extremely convenient for visiting Venice, right accross from the rail station and 12 minutes ride time from Venice. Finding the hotel, was a little complicated due to the bad navigation system which twice pointed us that we have to follow the rail tracks(:)). It is good if you have a detailed paper map so you can locate yourself if you get lost.
Like any other rail stations, the area around the hotel looks busy, dirty and unsafe. But you will get quickly accustomed to the place mostly due to the hotel staff who are so nice and courteous.
The rooms were very comfortable and modern, elegant furniture, excellent air conditioned system, luxurious bathroom. There's nothing more you wish after a long day of walking the streets of Venice.
Excellent breakfast included in price, very good selection, but you have to be in time, they close sharp at the exact hour, no flexibility.
The parking lot is conveniently placed near the hotel, you can park your car anywhere. There were so many technical difficulties with their swipe machine, for all 3 people ahead of me they had to open the machine and look for the paper ticket, if it was paid or not. Maybe it is a good idea to show it to the attendant before.
If I go back to Venice, definitely I will stay here again.

Room Tip: It really does not matter, there is no nice view anyway and the street noise is completely absorbed...

My 3rd stay here- 100 metres from Mestre train station, never more than 10 mins wait for a scenic train ride across the causeway to Venice proper. (10 mins, 2.50 Euros return). Spacious room, comfortable bed, flat screen TV. Good breakfast buffet included in the price.

I stayed with my family at Hotel Plaza last December for the New Year Eve in Venice. The room was one of the best I've ever been in my life. Modern, clean, spacious, well decorated. Even better than a suite in Aria, a five star hotel in Las Vegas. The room is in the renovated part of the hotel. So, when booking, don't forget to ask for a room in that part.

The hotel is well located, just in front of the train station. Breakfast is quite good, buffet style. I really recommend. I was a nice surprise for us and made our experience in Venice even better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the renovated part of the hotel.
