This hotel is modern in an old city. The hotel is quite a way out of the city. As it was part of our Trafalgar tour it wasn't my choice.

It was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. No air conditioning available until 1 May but the window opened up enough to get some air.

The walls were a little thin. We could hear our neighbours, luckily there were from our tour !

Big rooms, friendly staff, free Wi-Fi, very nice shower and good location. But the breakfast was poor, the furnishings were rather Spartan and housekeeping was not so good. In fact, the bathroom was not very clean. I'm sure there are better places at this price range in the area.

Hotel rooms are large based on most European hotels but that's is the most positive statement I can make. Could not regulate water temp in shower. Reported to hotel staff but not corrected. Supplies in bathroom were not replenished. Could not reach front desk at all. Window shade inoperable...reported but not completely fixed making it difficult to open window.....causing room to be hot.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in! Starting from the hotel stuff at the reception to the whole team at the restaurant and room service they were all helpful and collaborative. The suite was really clean, comfortable and relaxing! The breakfast is so yummy!! Free parking area next to the hotel is available. The converse rooms was so quite and clean but not too big!

Just back from a three-night break to the beautiful and picturesque city of Venice. We booked it at the Travel Department's first travel show in Dublin last October, which offered €100 off the normal package rate if booked on the day, so we paid €698 in total for flights and twin room.

The Travel Dept rep said there were very few places left at this 4* hotel, which she said was in a central location in Venice, and having showed us some photographs on the website, we booked it on that basis.

I'm so so sorry now that we had booked on the day - if we had taken time to check the reviews and other important info such as the ACTUAL LOCATION of this place, we would have looked through other agency websites and booked a hotel within the city of Venice itself.

Rather than being centrally located, the hotel is in an area more akin to a commercial-industrial estate. The nearest bus stop to Venice is a 10-minute walk while the train station is a 20-minute walk! Apart from a sushi restaurant across from the hotel on the corner, there were no decent snack bars or other restaurants nearby.

NH Laguna Palace is basically located in a local district in Mestre. So, with many run-down buildings and shops etc en route - the walk to and from thee bus stop is not ideal. And with no place nearby to purchase bus tickets, you are charged double (€2.50) when you board the bus for a 10 minute bus ride (depending on traffic) to Venice itself, never mind returning to the hotel at night. Otherwise you pay approx €25 for a taxi from the city to the hotel - which we paid on the last night there.....so the €100 discount is not really worth it!!

It's far from a palace - both inside and out! The hotel is split into two parts.....one side caters for conferences, business meetings etc with the hotel bar and main restaurants in this part; our room was across the water inlet at the second building of the hotel. I guess if you're there for a conference it may tick all the boxes but our trip was for a city break and not for business.

The hotel itself inside is soulless and lacks any atmosphere....the staff on the front desk were OK, but not great for recommending or giving any tips on where to go in the city. Considering that there are no nearby places to go for a drink or snack, our part of hotel didn't even have a hotel resident's bar and the bar on the other side closed @ 11pm.

The room was a large size....but apart from twin beds, bedside units, an old-style box TV (rather than your modern LCD/plasma screen) wardrobe with safe, bedroom unit with mirrors, sparsely stocked mini bar, one chipped and worn table and one chair in the corner, the rest of the room was void of any colour or character. Plenty of water marks on the walls.,,,and the windows were dirty inside and out. Oh and did I mention that the A/C didn't work!

Out of the 23 people who went on this particuar Travel Department city break to Venice, five of us stayed in the NH Laguna whilst the other 18 stayed in Hotel Venezia in Mestre town centre. They said it was very central and only a minute's walk to bus stop....with many restaurants etc on their doorstep while the main Piazza was a stone's throw away. They paid €100 less for their boutique style hotel....and seemed to think it good value. So, why was the group split up? I will be issuing my complaints to the Travel Department directly, apart from this review. We certainly got the short straw. The group in the other hotel were delighted they were not staying in our place, after bus transfer from airport dropped us off at our stop on the first day! They all commented that the area looked like an industrial estate....well, essentially it is. Horrible!

The only upside of this deal was inclusion of airport transfers and hotel to city centre transfers. Martina, the travel rep who met us a the airport and accompanied us on all transfers, could not have been more helpful....she was very informative, friendly and provided great tips on where to go, things to see and do. The break also included a half-day walking tour of some historical hot spots in Venice, which was good introduction to this amazing city.

My sister and I would definitely recommend a city break to Venice, but certainly not this hotel - there are much better hotels in the city centre, and it's worth paying the extra, because there's no need to pay bus, train or taxi fares in and out of the city.

I've posted some pics of exterior of hotel, which hopefully will steer anyone clear of this place.

Room Tip: I would not recommend choosing any room.....do not even consider this place, unless you want to be i...

NH hotel in Venezia is a very nice economic option to stay near to Venezia without spending too much money. On the other hand, the hotel is too business oriented without a good structure to attend a real tourist. For example, hotel restaurant has very low options.
Well, for tourists that are not worried to be mixed with executives using jackets and tie, this is excellent option.

Excellent venue where to organise a conference. Close to airport, close to Venice and fully equipped conference centre. Enjoyed the conference in full from restaurant, to the catering food during the event.
