My Mum and I were in this area of the Amalfi coast just last week. We pulled up early one morning on our way to the beach to see if we could have lunch. We could not have been made to feel more welcome.
There is a shaded car park (a luxury in these parts it seems!) and lots of wonderful places to sit. The decor is chic and glam without being intimidating. The staff, all of them, are very proud of what they do and are attentive but were never intrusive; they wanted us to relax and enjoy the amazing views of the coast line.
Chef / proprietor came to say hello and to welcome us and I think if I'd asked him for a boiled egg and a glass of water I would have been served it in the same gracious way! I did not though as I was hungry so we had two courses each followed by perfect espresso.
The food was just delicious. I don't seek out high end restaurants just places that please - be that a park bench or a street stall. It is pretty food but it had not been fiddled with so much that it loses its inherent flavour.

I highly recommend this restaurant and if you follow on down the road there is a very sweet, almost un-trippy beach.

Nice location, great terrace view to the sea, good and relatively cheap local wines. As always, everybody has his own meaning of of good taste: I personally found it OK, but not always worth the money. A fresh fish from the grill without any specials could be sometimes a perfect alternative, but if you want to try something new, then here you are right.

We found this wonderful place quite by chance and were blown away. The dining room on the garden terrace is beautiful. The waiters couldn't have been more helpful or attentive and the food was delicious. There were lots of extra free bits and the freshly baked breads just kept coming as fast as we could eat them. The outstanding dishes were the crab spaghetti and the lamk cooked 2 ways. We visited twice during our weeklong stay and staff recognised us on the second occasion. we even got to talk to the owner chef and his lovely wife. I can't recommend this place high enough.

Our arrival was greeted with a Dickensian swarm. Nevertheless, this at least guaranteed decent service. That was until a Russian oligarch arrived and then service at our table was as if we were in Fawlty Towers. However, the food was good, although excessively complicated. This was a shame, especially given the area's fantastic primary ingredients. In short, we ate better and more honestly at every other restaurant in the area - without the initial and very false Uriah Heap charm. Lastly, the little statues of street urchins on each table really should be binned.

A friend from the US suggested that we eat at Quattro Passi when we were visiting Positano. Overall, it was a great experience: beautiful outdoor dining experience, impeccable yet relaxed service (including being visited by the owner/chef Tonino), and great food. The only caveats to eating here are (1) it is about a 1 hour drive along very small and curvy roads from Positano (and you need a GPS to figure out how to get here, or at least good detailed directions) and (2) this place is VERY EXPENSIVE. We were shocked when our lunch bill for two of us came and it cost 500 euro ($750); granted, we inadvertently ordered a great bottle of Amarone (wine) which unbeknownst to us cost 300 Euro ($450), so the food was "only" 200 Euro ($300) for the two of us. So, go there but bring a big wad of cash!
