We have just returned from hotel piccolo paradiso and miss it after leaving. Location is 20 mins by bus from Sorrento (6km) stop is straight outside that takes you up to the town of massa lubrense then connects to another bus to Sorrento. The local harbour does plenty of boat trips and I would recommend the Capri trip through the hotel for €50 pp. If you are after a hotel with a beautiful location, peace and quiet this is it. Even though location outside of Sorrento we easily managed trips to Pompeii/amalfi/Positano/Capri/Naples and a couple of days exploring Sorrento town all within 7 days. Long days though, but to come back to a sunset as shown in photo is well worth it. We had room 203 which had great views to the harbour and the best sunsets I've ever seen. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Not faults at all...

We really enjoyed our stay in the Hotel Piccolo Paradiso.
Great points
Beautiful part of Italy that is unspoiled by tourists in massa Lubrense and the harbour right on your door step well 61 steps down actually.

It felt we had arrived at a real part of rustic Italy that had been saved.
The view of the sun set on evenings from the restaurant balcony was amazing.
The Hotel staff were great and the swimming pool was amazing and not busy with people reserving sun beds, on some days we were only ones out having a dip as there seems lots of coach tours off for the day exploring. Would i go back yes, however i like to travel so i look for new adventures.Angelo's bar in the harbour, what a character, he makes a point of welcoming and befriending people ( clever bar owner) he is very nice person and his family runs an amazing bar and fantastic food at very good price)
Boat trip to Capri is a must and visit Pompeii.
We also enjoyed Sorrento its really busy but the small roads with lots of shops was fab for leather handbags and souvenirs

Rooms were kept clean with maids visiting us daily
The waiters and staff were friendly and we had some lovely evenings in the hotel and in the harbour

Things that i found disappointing
No hotel shop no shop near unless you go to the harbour 61 steps and slope down and 61 steps and slop up. ( i have read before about how its not a place for people with mobility issues and they are right)

No kettle in room or fridge

Usual Italian rooms that were small and we paid for superior double with balcony, small balcony and small room however on my last trip to Italy this was also the case.

The food was disappointing apart from the night that the chief Gino and his tv crew visited for the night. wonder if that had anything to do with it?
To be fair it was ok but i thought i would be tasting fantastic Italian cooking however in my opinion this was basic.

Expensive as expected
What i would of done differently before going is PREPARE better
make sure we had everything we need like sun tan stuff
Example after sun tube only available at the pharmacy at massa and it was 19 euros !
We were talked into having a drink in the bay of Capri 20 euros for 2 beers and 13 euros for 2 large bottles of water at a bar. it adds up.

mosquitoes omg it was hot on evenings and after a few day i got one of those wrist bands and spray as i was getting a few bites.
These things expected we had a fantastic time and met some lovely people Thanks Neil and Debbie, Lovely people x

Room tip: pay extra for sea view

We traveled to Massa Lubrense last summer and it is a beautiful place, we stayed at the Piccolo Paradiso in Della Lobra. It is a great location, sitting on the hill not far from the Marina della Lobra. The hotel is clean and the staff very friendly, especially the waiting staff. We loved the hotel atmosphere but were very disappointed with our room. We had paid extra for a sea view but our room over looked a wall and a bush ! It was the last room pool side of the hotel and even had its own ant battalion which made the balcony extra unpleasant. It was however spacious and clean. We didn't use the balcony as a result of its location and its ant fest which was disappointing. We traveled with Jet two holidays so our recommendation is do not pay extra for an upgraded room, you don't get an upgrade. The view from the hotel terrace is to die for and the sunsets wow, the hotel drinks are really reasonable and we enjoyed relaxing on the terrace with our drinks at night. We went half board and for us the choice of food was grim, only two choices for each evening meal. The first night was a slice of meat with sauce and french fries, disappointing, we had hoped for fresh Italian fare and lots of it but it never really materialised. We only ate twice in the hotel restaurant for our evening meal despite having pre paid for it. We checked the menu each morning and apart from two occasions after reading what was on offer opted to go down to the Marina and eat at Angelos bar instead. The food is cooked fresh their on demand by 'mama' It is a family business and so inexpensive. The fare is sooooooooooo fresh and tasty. Picollo Paradiso is a lovely hotel but don't waste your money on their food, eat locally instead. It costs less and there is a good selection of local eateries in walking distance. Our advice is you won't regret the hotel, the pool facilities are fab, the rooms spacious and clean and the staff friendly but don't pay your package holiday company extra for a room upgrade, ours was a terrible room positionally and don't pay for half board, the food is not worth it and extremely restricted in choice. You are in Italy, eat locally and eat Italian!

Room tip: Don't pay package holiday company for upgrade. Don't take last room on poolside, ant ridden balcony with view of bushes & wall

Stayed 3 nights after 2 weeks already in Italy, took 'demi pension' (add dinners) A holiday within a holiday. Only 14 min by sita (local bus) from Sorrento. Very quiet small port city. Good affordable base to visit Amalfi coast, Capri, Sorrento. Service in perfect French, English, German... I could not believe my chance to have taken the decision to stop there Excellent chef, I recommend the meal plan, and weekend stay to take advantage of the local boat trips offered locally.

Room tip: Loved my room overlooking the pool, I had a private balcony. But I was off season.

I don't know how they managed to cancel my previous review in English. Beware of this hotel who will give you old and dirty rooms with no hot water, disgusting food, arrogance and unkindness. NEVER AGAIN in this HELL located far from everything!
PS : Although you managed to get my previous review cancelled I will keep posting it over and over again!
