“Simply wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2010

We stayed here for 10 days and the whole experience was completeley fantastic. The location and view simply cannot be beaten, as the buildings sit high on the hill looking out over the lush Bay of Naples.
I would strongly recommend staying in the Foresteria as we did - a private cottage in a secluded corner of the farm with its own small lawn, garden and terrace.
It is the perfect base to explore either Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento in one direction, or the Amalfi Coast through to Salerno in the other. Allow plenty of time to explore anywhere though would be my advice due to the narrowness of the roads! A smaller hire car too would be more practical.
Aldo and Mathilde are very very lovely hosts and will do everything (and more) to make you feel welcome, including helping with trips/bookings, restaurants, timetables and dinner is even offered too at weekends if needed. It's a great way to make friends with other travellers staying there.
I would highly recommend this location for an amazing and relaxing holiday in a stunning part of Italy - take plenty of insect repellent though!

We've just returned from a truly relaxing stay with Aldo and Mathilde - infact I'm so laid back now, I don't know how I'm going to gear myself up for work again!
We stayed in the Foresteria, the little independent building with its' own garden and terrace......when we were first shown the view, I was gobsmacked - Capri to the left, Ischia straight ahead and Versuvio to the right - out of this world!
The Foresteria itself is comfortable and has lots of storage space, which is important if you're staying for a longer time, as we did.
The whole atmosphere of the place just makes you relax, yet there are lots of great things to see and do in the area. We do think a hire car is necessary, yet we met another couple who were taking public transport everywhere, so it is certainly possible.
Mathilde offers dinner at the weekend, which was delicious and a very pleasant experience.
Our hosts also recommended some great local restaurants.
Massa Lubrense is the nearest (small) town, and it's charming and has all the basics covered - some great deli's and greengrocers.
Would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to independent travellers.

A lovely small bed and breakfast set in an old Saracen tower overlooking both Capri and Vesuvio- outstanding views to both from our little stand alone dwelling in front of the old tower. Lovely surrounds in an organic garden of olives and lemons, with the local bus just 5 minutes walk down from the villa. A short trip by bus or car to either Sorrento or the quieter and more intimate Massa Lubrense town for supermarket supplies or coffee/gelato. There are a few nice restaurants in Massa and down at the Marina del Lobra. We knew ahead of time that the owners were to be away and had our breakfast at the next door B&B Villa Viglione where we have stayed several times also. There is a lovely terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples where breakfast is served in summer. Handmade marmalade and breads are served with good strong coffee.
We were happy to be independent having stayed in the tower before and loving the place no matter where we are put. A nice walk of about 20-25 minutes down the hill will take you to the beach of Puolo where you can laze under umbrellas on the private deck or on the pebbly beach that is public, normally very popular in summer with the locals, you pay to bring your car down for parking under shade- this will depend on whether your car is a local one ( cheaper) or is a visitor in which case the charge is higher.
All up amazing value for money at 70 euro a night and the independant La Forestiera is just lovely for a great get away with views from the little garden adjacent.

This is a beautiful Agritourismo not far from Sorrento. A perfect base from which to explore the Amalfi Coast. Aldo and Mathilde are charming hosts - Aldo has lots of tips to give on exploring his region and Mathilde makes the best breakfast I've ever had! Her marmalade is seriously tasty...not to mention her lemon cake! We stayed in the apartment, the Forestoria, which is to the front of the main house. It has a lovely little garden which boasts unrivaled views of Capri, Ischia and Vesuvio. We will definitely stay here again whenever we return to Campania.

We will always cherish our time at the Torre Cangiani. The stone walls, covered in vines the gardens and views are all beautiful. The concert of birdsong every morning seemed just for us. The smell of the lemon trees filled the house. Late afternoons we sat on our terrace with a full view of the Bay of Naples, Capri to the left, Ischia across the bay, and Vesuvius to the right. One sunset was more magnificent, than the next. Situated on a farm growing lemons and olives, we got to know the country and feel its beating heart. The people are the real treasure, though. Aldo, Matilda and Simone were always there when needed with good advice, making phone calls, coordinating details when needed. Their family has been there since 1300 and they have a love, respect and knowledge of the area. They are well read, sophisticated people who could help us in so many ways. We do not like to revisit places when there are so many new ones to visit, but Torre Cangiani is like returning home.

A group of seven friends spent one week at Torre Cangiani. Everything met our expectations. Comfortable beds, freshly cleaned sheets, delicious organic food, amazing views of the Bay of Naples and Capri and Mt. Vesuvius, and all in the company of the beguiling owners Aldo, Matilda, and Simone who took very good care of us.

One suggestion: if you are going to rent a car, rent a small one. Narrow and windy roads with very confident local drivers!

We stayed 2 nights in the Foresteria - a charming little villa next to the stunning house. Our hosts (Aldo, Simona and Mathilda) are truly wonderful, so kind, so helpful and such a pleasure to have met. They really go out of their way to make your stay memorable, including making you a CD of photos of your stay. The breakfasts (homemade jams, cakes etc) are delicious and the setting and views incredible amongst the lemon and olive groves. A car is recommended although the bus stop (good regular service) is very close. We can not wait to return. Massa Lubrense is refreshing and relaxing after the tourism of the Amalfi Coast. A major highlight of our trip. Thank you!
