This hotel has beautiful first floor public rooms, high ceilings, tile floors. Our room was gorgeous with carved headboards and armoires, very clean and quiet. The hotel is very conveniently located and -- a big plus in Sicily -- ample parking right in front of the hotel.

I recommend a tour of one of the wineries in Marsala, such as the Pellegrino facilities which are easy to reach from the hotel. The manager of the hotel is very helpful -- but steer clear of the Osteria Il Gallo e L'Innamorata if he recommends it -- ordinary food and a very long walk to get to it.

We stayed at Carmine Hotel, Piazza Carmine 16, 91025 Marsala, Sicily, Italy in December 2013 for two nights. This beautifully renovated old property is in an excellent and central location where we parked our rental car right in front. We booked a room on the first floor which had a nice terrace overlooking the garden and was tastefully decorated. The variety at breakfast is amazing. The hotel has a nice bar / lounge area on the ground floor. The front desk staff went out of their way to reserve a tour at one of the wineries and even after one night stay the staff serving breakfast remembered what our preferences were. Attention to detail (both hard and soft ware) seems to be the hallmark. Given the location and the service level, we have no hesitation to recommend Carmine Hotel.

Room Tip: Reserve a room on the first floor with terrace overlooking the garden.

We stayed one night in the hotel while driving a circuit around the island, and it is so beautiful we just wish we had booked for longer. It is simply marvellous - historic, refined, tasteful, alluring. I have rarely seen a historic building updated with such elegance and good judgment. The front desk staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, especially helping us park in the little plaza outside.
However, I'd be very cautious about taking the car right to the hotel again - there are public lots on the main road a few blocks away. The next morning it was extremely difficult to find our way back to the main road because of the one-way system, and we had a quite hair-raising test of manoevering through extremely narrow, winding and pedestrian-filled streets for half an hour. Our advice: if you take the car near the hotel, print out Google maps of the immediate area and get the staff to draw the precise route out. But better, park the car and walk a few blocks to the hotel.

Arrived in a rainy afternoon and received by a surly sleepy lady Who had no record of my email. Changed room for noisy problem as most rooms are close to common areas and got n.24 with two levels; at 6 was awoken by lady at breakfast next to my door. Room ok but you have to climb steps up and down for the bathroom.... Obscene! To get hot water had to wait literally 7 minutes white waisting lots of it. The bathroom was the smallest ever and the shower was so small I could not move inside, terrible! But what got me mad was the rude attitude of the young lady who served breakfast, she would simply indicate a table where to sit point out her arm, not buongiorno or a smile..... Very rude in serving a terrible espresso, she was more interested in loudly chatting with the hotel maids who came into the breakfast room , went into the kitchen for their breakfast! No focus on client at all. No cleaning the tiny table for 3 persons, no asking if we needed something else. My partner took the bottle of water almost finished to his room to take a pill and she chased us and blamed us....hey you stole the mineral water .....
The hotel is a nice building with some old fashioned charme but lacks in atmosphere and good taste; plastic flowers everywhere , old style fabrics, etc.
We paid 100 euros at the very low season in an anonymous sad town in a 3 stars hotel, which I believe it is overated. One small bottle of water in the minibar at 2,40 euros you pay in a 5 star hotel in Taormina or Capri, not here. The only nice person was Peppe, the young guy who smiled, and professionally gave us a few suggestions for dinner and drink, the staff is the n.1 problem of this overated if nice hotel.

We stay there every year. The hotel ( used to be a convent ) has kept the peace and serenity of it's past history. There is a beautiful garden, the rooms are great and the staff is friendly and helpful. In the middle of the town's center.
