“Nice pool area and staff, otherwise average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

This 5 star hotel more seemed like a 4 or even 3 star one, but as we knew that in beforehand it was not a problem. The staff was very nice and service minded.
Very nice pool area and in the end of June we almost had it to ourselves. However, this also meant the bar by the pool was closed.
The breakfast buffet had a large number of very sweet cakes, but was very poor on bread, ham, cheese, youghurts, good fruit juices (only fruit "beverages").
The room we had (Comfort) was ok, but poorly equipped as it lacked small things that make the difference - like a water boiler, bottle opener, body lotion and more.
Not a very nice neighbourhood.

Lovely clean hotel but very very quiet. Breakfast ok but mostly cakes but we already new this. Staff excellent. Too far out of the city taxi cost was 20 euros return. The path into the town is very uneven and in places there is no pavement. The car drivers are very reckless so care is needed at all time. A lively hotel not many clients and to be fair it is not 5 star probably not even 4 a good 3 maybe would not revisit.

Room Tip: We had a superior room with a veiw of the railway line and a disused scrap yard not very nice but we...

We found this hotel to be located on the edge of Marsala, and not immediately adjacent to the marina should on the hotel's web page. The lobby and room are very nice and clean and located in newer buildings than the old palace. There is plenty of parking in a gated parking area, making it secure for guests. The grounds are lovely. We were disappointed in our evening meal, which was very German in its elements. Our group was small in comparison to a much larger group that did appear to be German, so we believe the chef took the easier method and prepared the same meal for us.

We love the New Palace Hotel and knew we were going to stay here on our vacation. We find the hotel charming and wonderful and the staff to be simply amazing. We find the location perfect as you are removed from the noise of the city, yet close enough to go and enjoy it. The extensive lobbies make relaxing so very easy and the breakfast room s just stunning. Those who would complain about the food have never asked. The staff will make whatever you want. We can't wait to come back! This is our second year in a row to enjoy the New Palace, and a palace it is. This hotel reminds you of the glorious days of the past with all the luxuries of today.

Room Tip: May rooms face empty buildings. This has never bothered me because thy are very quiet and who sits a...

I stayed at this hotel over Easter 2013 with my husband and adult daughter. The hotel was clean and comfortable. However we had expected a five star hotel which it certainly was not. Whilst the hotel accommodation was adequate the surrounding area of Marsala was fairly desolate. The photographs show a beautiful marina facing the hotel but it does not show the derelict buildings around the marina and hotel. The breakfast was also adequate but not what you expect from a five star hotel it barely scrapes three stars in my view. We only had dinner one evening. It was awful!! The restaurant was completely dated and the food was terrible. This was not good value for money. The saving grace of the hotel and the surrounding area was the charm of the people hotel staff were delightful and could not have been more helpful. We had planned to stay 7 nights but checked out early incurring the charge of the whole booking. If traveling in this area worth one night stay max two, as long as you are aware it is not five star as billed. It is worth experiencing the lovely people of Marsala. Also eat in the buccaneri a restaurant easily located from the hotel which is excellent.

Room Tip: Our rooms were classic rooms. Out of our window we could see a brick wall. Behind the wall was a rai...

We booked this hotel on an offer through Groupon and were not disappointed. The pool was fantastic, we really wished we'd brought our daughter as it was nicely graduated and would have been great for her. There was never any problem getting a sunbed around the pool. The room was very nice too. I liked the hotel and grounds. Breakfast was plentiful and had a good variety more than I have seen in other hotels in Italy. You could order freshly made eggs if required. Good coffee. The only negative was the cost of food and drink in the hotel. Eight euros for a beer is a little steep when you can buy for 1.5 euros in the local supermarket. There's a nice cheap cafe that serves wine, spirits, beer and food about 1 minute from the hotel, which we used a few times ( turn left out of the hotel and its a minute away on the right hand side nr the junction).

The local town was quite quiet. The route to the central of town is not very inspiring but it was fine. I never felt unsafe. I caught the local train to go to selinute temples, which was easy as the station is close by. There is an exit through the back if the hotel, which shortens the journey time to the station.

We got an incredible deal via Groupon for 5 nights at this hotel. We explored the local area around Marsala and Trapani. This hotel is in a perfect position, if you have a car, to explore the north west.

The service, the rooms and the breakfast were first class. We would definitely come back if we were in the north west of Sicily again.
