Hotel Villa Ombrosa
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 31, 2012

We also stayed at the Villa Ombrosa on a coach trip with Shearings. We were there at the end of August 2011 and were made very welcome. We had a lovely room with beautiful views of the mountains from a small balcony. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful when we were trying to arrange a visit to Florence on public transport. I thoroughly enjoyed the food which satisfied my healthy appetite. The friend I was travelling with is a vegetarian which can cause problems but not at this hotel. She was asked what she wanted and it was prepared for her. We have only ever had such service in one small guest house in England. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily use this hotel again.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the hotel have the mountain views

Having recently spent a week here on a Shearings All Inclusive I regret I am at odds with other reviewers, and we must have arrived at a bad time. It should be said that rooms were good and well maintained, and if you wished to risk a hernia you could stretch and see the mountains. We were a happy, uncomplaining bunch so we put up with the food which was usually cooked by chance and served in portions more suited to Weight Watchers. Drinks were served by staff who seemed incapable of pouring a glass full of barely passable beer from a bottle without saving some for others, and food was served (and sometimes volleyed ) at unsuspecting clients by some of the waiters who sadly had received little or no training. If the drivers went out for an evening meal that says it all, The family were sullen and uncommunicative at best, and I await a response with interest.

A very nice family run hotel.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good authentic meals.
We were particularly impressed with their help in providing on request a range of gluten-free meals.

What a lovely place to stay central to everything of interest, so close to the beach and a lovely woodland so close by to relax and cool down if needed.
The staff were wonderful so helpful and friendly, it was our wedding aniversary while we were there and we were brought out a couple of little cakes with candles for us what a lovely touch!
The room was great with the balcony to sit out on (added bonus) and it was kept perfectly clean every day. What can we say about the food well excellent doesnt describe it well enough and the friendliness of the staff was unquestionable.
Thank you all for a wonderful stay we shall definately return in the future.

Room Tip: On this occasion no matter what room you chose at this hotel will be great we were at the front side...

Providing you do not need a pool and a lively resort , this hotel is as good as it gets for the price. The room, on the third floor, had an adequate balcony and great sea views. It was clean, fully functioning, adequately equiped and air conditioned. The staff were extremely helpful and all spoke English. The lead staff member, Sylvia, was particularly good and nothing was too much trouble. It is clearly a family run hotel, and a lot of pride appeared to be taken by the family in obtaining guest satisfaction. The food was dictated by the budget of our travel operator, it was a cheap tour, but was good, served hot and meal times were a good experience. Breakfast was a bit repetative, however this was probably based upon the budget. The compliamentary local drinks, and free wine with meals arrangement worked well.

I have been known to be a tad grumpy in hotels that fail to perform, and many Italian hotels just don't, however it was smiles all week, I would go back.

If you are in Marina Di Pietrasanta give them a go.

Room Tip: Third floor seaward give a good sea view, Second floor seaward rooms have a street view, but a ma...
