Authentic Italian food at a reasonable price, lots of locals eating there which is always a good sign.

12 of us ate at this restaurant on a recent weekend to Venice and for sure we didn't leave hungry. The food did come out in a bit of a haphazard fashion so we would suggest ordering one course at a time - we had side dishes coming out with starters, mains before starters and so on! . The starters are more expensive than the main course (about 10euros) but
rightly so with the size of it - recommend the mozerella and parma ham (a whole dinner plate full!) Restaurent was very busy. Easy to find if you're staying at the Mecure Venezia (a simple 10 min walk)

A few minutes walk from Mestre Marghera Holiday Inn. Lovely food, welcoming staff, excellent value for money.

I mean it, my children are picky, especially my son. We stayed at a hotel three blocks away from Al Calesse. We wanted to eat in the hotel's restaurant, but it charged a 4 euro per person service charge, so we opted not to eat there. The hotel clerk recommended we try Al Calesse and gave us the directions. We found it. While we waited, we saw the cook make some pizzas. The restaurant reminded me of a TexMex restaurant, but also of an Italian restaurant. The service is abolutely great, the waitress was very nice and if we knew how to speak italian, they probably would have even had a friendly conversation with us. I agree with the reviews here...their pizzas are absolutely great, so is there spaghetti carbonara. The price for their carbonara? 5 euro. With the portion you'll get on the plate, you'll have to pay 16 euro for this in Germany and it won't be as good as Al Calesse.

A group of 9 of us went in search of a restaurant that would be able to fit us all and came across this beauty! They easily accommodated us, gave us English menus and had really quick service. Everyone got pizza and none of us could fault it. It was incredibly cheap as well - 5 litres of wine, 9 pizzas, 5 desserts for only €135, bargain! We definitely recommend this restaurant.
