The hotel is well located to the public transportation direction venezia. The rooms are spacious and clean. Wi-Fi is available. The staff is not really committed what makes it a very unpersonal experience. Breakfast is not included and overprized. Overall we had a nice stay!

The hotel was very nice and clean and we were satisfied with the services, but we had a problem the day we left. We had our flight early in the morning, so we had to take the bus to treviso airport at 5.40 in the morning. the station was 5 min away by car so we asked the guy from the reception to call us a taxi. I am not an Italian speaker but I could perfectly understand that he didn't phone a taxi company, but an acquaintance of his and told him he had to tourists who had to be driven to hotel plaza. It was strange when he said it would take 15 min for the 'taxi' to arrive, but it was nothing we could do about it. To our surprise, no taxi showed up but some sort of mini van. It all seemed strange from the beginning, but we didn't have time to argue with anybody. We arrived just in time to catch the bus and for our 5 min drive we were asked to pay 45 euros to a guy who had no price machine and for a road we had paid 10 euro some days before. So make sure you don't ask the young blondish a little fat guy for favors. I think his name was Leonardo (he was on service in the morning of 2nd of January) and I really want him to pay for the little business he has !!

Dear Teenager,

Thank you for taking the time to inform us about your experience following your stay at our hotel.
My team and I are really grateful for your kind words of appreciation, which encourage us to keep up our efforts, ensuring the service we provide always meets your expectations.
Please allow me to clarify what happened really at the moment of your departure. You did not reserve any mean of transportation for your departure and you did not even tell the reception. At 5.10 am Leonardo called the taxy company and there was no taxi available and this is why he called a private company to give you the possibility not to miss your bus otherwise you had no chance to reach on time the bus stop and consequently you had missed your flight. The price you paid it is nothing regarding Leonardo or the hotel but you have to consider the supplement for the hour and the fact it was a private company, but nothing regarding us. Leonardo tried to do his best to help you and this is why I could not understand why this has become in your mind a negative thing regarding your stay. In my opinion it is really unfair. I would underline that Leonardo is NOT fat, but he is tall and probably you have a wrong memory of him as of the episode you describe.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon at one of the Mercure hotels.

Yours sincerely,
Andrea Ferrari - hotel manager

This hotel was fine for my few days in Venice, as I preferred to stay outside the city-centre and travel in every day. If you want to stay in the city-centre and to have a wide choice of restaurants in the evenings, it might not, however, be ideal for you. The Number 6 bus from the street by the hotel takes you into Venice bus station in about twenty minutes. My room was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The public areas are bright and modern and all the staff were attentive and helpful. The restaurant, like the other public areas, is bright and functional. It offers a fixed-price, four-course, buffet menu and an a la carte menu. If you select the buffet menu, you may, for your starter, help yourself from the appetising spread of hors d'oeuvres laid out before you. However, and strangely, you do not have access to this excellent spread if you choose the a la carte menu, on which the list of starters is limited and, in my view, not nearly as appetising as the hors d'oeuvres. This is an unusual and unsatisfactory arrangement, the logic of which escapes me and which I have never encountered before. The conventional arrangement is to include a selection of hors d'oeuvres as a starter, irrespective of what you choose thereafter. As there is no other restaurant in the vicinity of the hotel, immediate removal of these pointless menu restrictions would greatly improve the dining experience for hotel guests.

Stayed here with my fiancée on our trip to celebrate her birthday and the anniversary of our engagement. The hotel is a bit difficult to find if you come by public transport but once you get inside, you forget all your troubles. The layout at the entrance lobby is very open and spacious, the rooms are modern and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful e.g. they were more than happy to print the boarding passes for our return flights. Only a few minor quibbles:
- the vegetarian choice in the restaurant menu was a bit limited but not a big issue for the vast majority of guests
- the hotel is a bit of trek from the centre of Venice - you have to allow about 30 minutes for the "door to door" journey if travelling by bus and it's a good idea to ask the staff for the bus timetable
- when we wanted an iron and ironing board, we had to leave a deposit for the iron which is not usual but acceptable. What we didn't find acceptable was that the iron could only be used in the basement which kind of negated the reason for us asking for the iron in the first place. The reception staff explained that this is due to local health and safety laws. We didn't get a chance to check this but hey ho.
- when we were checking out (AM), there was one receptionist who was serving a couple ahead of us. All was going well until the phone rang at which point the receptionist proceeded to exclusively address the query on the phone for the next 10-15 minutes with no thought about the guests physically present. As a result of this lack of professionalism, we would have missed our connection had the couple ahead of us not been generous enough to let us go first.

All in all a worthwhile stay, but definitely some rough edges to sort out. Would we stay again? Probably not, but only because of the distance from the centre of Venice.
