“Good-value hotel with great service”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We enjoyed a 7-night stay in one of the 'Deluxe' rooms with sea view, an experienced much enhanced by the friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the beach and a couple of decent restaurants, and the port area is also within walking distance, but a car is really needed to reach the interesting old town of Maratea and its better range of shops and restaurants. The bedroom was clean, bright and functional, but didn't really measure up to the 'deluxe' description - the furniture was minimal and laminated, there were no easy chairs or cushions and only a single chair on the balcony, and worst of all the bed had the hardest mattress of any hotel we've ever stayed in. The manager was genuinely concerned when we raised this and went to some trouble to try and improve it by providing a quilt under the bottom sheet, which made the bed tolerable but still not comfortable, but there was really nothing else he could do.
We rate this hotel as high as four stars mainly because of the friendly and helpful staff, the convenient location and because overall it was good value for the price.

We had 6 nights in this hotel in September 2012. The hotel located in Communa of Maratea- village Fiumicello. The Town Maratea is upper in mountains. Fiumicello is little village with one main street.
End of september is end-seasons and hotel was quiet and not full. The beach is in 5-10 min on foot downhill, but at return way you have to climb up.
Rooms and bathroom are new enough and clean. Personal is very good. Free wi-fi is only at holl of reception.

We had a great time at Hotel Murmann, the staff were very nice and helpful. we where planning on renting a boat and the staff ordered it for us, and very helpful in giving info on everything we asked for.

the hotel has a cosy lobby bar, clean swimming pool, and the rooms are nice. They have a deal with one of the local restaurants, cheap and alot of good food!

Its located not far from the beach or the port.

I recommend this hotel.

My husband & I have one regret about our stay at Hotel Murmann and that is because we only stay 4 nights.
The hotel is priced well. Hotel rooms are very clean and modern. You will find the staff extremely helpful and are always happy to help you organise your next day activities.
There are a few restaurants within walking distance and it is an easy walk either to the marina area or to the beach.
Maratea is an area that I would recommend having a rental car if you are staying for a few days as the surrounding areas are well worth visiting. Yes, with a car you could easily spend 7 or more days discovering the area.

Room Tip: select a front facing room with a small balcony.

We stayed here 3 nights in july. The staff welcomed us and guided us to our room on the 1th floor. I was a bit disappointed that there were no balcony, I thought we had booked a room with balcony. To upgrade we had to pay 40 euros per night, so we just stayed at this room. The room had a view to the parkinglot. The bathroom was small, but clean. Good A/C. Big minibar. The WIFI didn't function all the time. Good breakfast served outside. Quick room cleaning. Spacious room. We parked for free. Nice poolarea, but the pool was closed one evening during maintenance. 10 minutes walk to the Maratea Marina, a nice place to have a drink or dinner. There is a bus 200 meter from the hotel that drives you to Maratea village in the mountain. It is a beautiful place, be sure to catch the sun go down.

Me and my wife spent three nights at the Murmann in early July and we are happy we did so. This 4 star hotel deserves the stars and could even earn another with just some effort. Like stuffing the minibar with more than 1 beer, 2 bottles of water, 1 coke and 1 fanta. We did as always: Put the drings on the desk and stuffed the fridge with drinks from the supermarket we found round the corner.

Well, the good things about the hotel is the location. A 10 minute walk to a beautiful beach, 15 minutes to the port an some bars and stores just outside. Most inportant: the buses running up and down to the port, the rail station and the beautiful town Maratea. The ride cost only 60 cent and the buses are frequent from early morning until midnight with a stop just 2 minutes from the hotel. This is rare outside big cities in Italy and for us, who don't want to drive on our holidays, it is a Godsent.

The beakfast was better than average in Italy, menaning that they served not only sweets but also some ham, cheese and bread. The bar had all the bottles and stuff a bar should have but, as is often the case, there was nobody who knew how to make a proper cocktail. The staff was friendly, though and I can't blame the barman for not being trained for the job.

Most annoyng was the beds. I know Italians like hard beds but this was ridiculus. When we, with sour backs after the first night, asked at the reception, we were told that "all beds are the same". Not very creative. We took the blankets from the cupboard, folded them and put them under the bedsheet, which heleped a bit. I am sure the hotel could have come up with a better solution if they had put some effort into it.

I also think the place is a bit colorless and dull. They should try to create a bit more funk, now it delt like a place for öpeople who wanted to be alone - which we realised later wasn't the case at all.

But if we ever return to these parts, we may well consider the Murmann. The bus was reason enough and the place was good enough and the view from the balcony was gorgeus.

Room Tip: There are rooms with "seaview" if you pay extra. But my guess is that the view is excellen...

We stayed at the Hotel Murmann in early June. It was an excellent choice to enjoy the area. We arrived at the hotel late on June 2 weary from the trip. But the staff quickly got us situated and offered us a welcome drink and snacks. The hotel was located in Fumiciello, about a 10 minute walk to a beautiful beach and a 10-15 walk into the port of Maratea. The little village of Fiumicello offered a couple of nice shops and a small grocery with a great deli. Right next to the hotel was a nice family run restaurant/pizzeria (La Fenice) which we enjoyed for both lunch and dinner. The hotel is very well maintained and features a nice pool. Breakfast was included which was a nice touch. Our room was nice and included a balcony with a great view. The only negative I will add here is that the bed was hard and the pillows thin - one area for the hotel to look into. The staff was very attentive and helpful with directions, arranging transportation. And whenever we just decided to sit in the lobby and relax with some wine, we were always provided some type of snack at no charge. We ventured into the Port of Maratea and into the town of Maratea (about a 10 minute taxi ride) for some additional flavor of the area. It is a beautiful, quiet area of Italy to visit. The beach was nice and the water beautiful. We had some great dinners in the Port and Town of Maratea. The people were friendly and helpful. We loved the Italian culture. This was our first Italy experience and would highly recommend this hotel and area.

Room Tip: Check the bed mattress to make sure it is to your liking.
