Stayed 7 nights and chose the hotel for the reasons of:

1. Close to variation of restaurants at Garda Lake without having to drink and drive at night.
2. Pay with Amex.
3. Pool for the kids.

Paid extra for lake view, fantastic view of the lake, really! Breakfast included, nice but not much more. For some reason, more or less all less than 4 star don't have any reasonable juice in a country that actually produces a lot of really nice juice, so this was not any better than anywhere else in the area.

The pool area was great for the kids. Sun chairs a bit close to the pool, but not a real problem. There is even partial shade in the pool at certain times of the day, so it is really ideal for children.

The rooms do not have AC (or any other means of internal ventilation) so, you need to sleep with the windows open, which would be ok, however noise from the traffic on the street.... AND the church just 100m from the window blast away like crazy at 8 AM, 7 days a week. Additionally the walls are very thing, so don't expect to have a quiet stay. Otherwise rooms are fairly standard with essentials like safe and minibar/fridge with 10-12 c at the coolest. .

Booked the hotel online with Amex. But paying with Amex on check out was not possible. Very unclear on the booking site, but in Italy you clearly need to double check everything and get it in writing specifically, as information is not relevant to them, you just have to know stuff...

The staff was very friendly and truly helpful and understanding.

Lastly a warning. If you are sensitive to smoke, I can not recommend this this hotel, as mainly Germans smoke in the outdoor serving area with no respect whatsoever to children or others, and this smoke spreads everywhere, even inside, and up into the rooms (that have to have open window for ventilation). So you will get your breakfast smoked filled, and evenings on the balcony smoked scented...

In all if at half price it would be worth it, but same price as a Hilton hotel stay, well that is really overpriced.

This was a last minute booking as many hotels were already booked out and found hotel Diana through booking.com on a very decent price. Closer to my arrival, I read the reviews and must say, I was rather skeptical. Told myself, all I want is clean room n bathroom. Arrived here yesterday, n must say...it is decent. The room is small yet clean n the ladies at the reception are very helpful n friendly - nothing is a bother to them. Yes, the rooms have no AC, but you will not need it for the chill weather in October. The room has a little fridge that comes with 2 bottles of water, a safe box n table fan if you think it is too cold. The location is perfect as it is in the Center of everything n less than 10min to the malcesine castle. Their breakfast is minimum, however the ladies are happy to accommodate your request. If you are looking for reasonable, decent, clean, friendly, n a safe place - then this is the place

Thanks Christina, you have been really helpful.

Think faulty towers but worse. We paid £95 for a very basic room with no a/c. It's very dated with pretty poor service and a very average breakfast. Other than the location I have no good words to say!

Situated in Malcesine, the location is excellent for the lake, restaurants and shops. The staff are really helpful and friendly, the breakfast is really good and the value for money is very good indeed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I did not swim in the pool but it looks very clean and inviting,
I would stay here if I visit the area again.

First the good news: The hotel is located a little up hill but the location is good. The view from the balcony was amazing. The breakfast was really good, considering that this was a European hotel. Hotels bacon seemed to be like parma ham, but hot (tasty), buns were still hot and you could have a nice class of sparkling wine every morning if you liked. Pool area was basic but clean and hotel staff was friendly.

Then the bad news: The room was clean, but small, walls were quite thin and the room didn't have air-conditioning. We were there during the hottest time. At first we didn't know how to control the temperature by adjusting curtains and it was hot, but once we got hang of it and left the balcony doors open all night long, the temperature was ok. One really annoying thing was the local church and it's bells. During the week, the bells rang only every morning 8 am. But between saturday and sunday night the bells rang every hour and every half an hour. It was terrible. We don't know if it was for some special reason or every weekend. On the other hand I bet you can't miss those bells anywhere in the center of Malcesine. Some additional noise came from the unloading of the delivery trucks for food store near by.

Room Tip: Choose the cheaper mountain side room for less noise.
