Spent a week at the wonderful Hotel Vega as a couple on a relaxing break.

Location - directly on the lake with stunning views. Only a few minutes walk from town centre on a peaceful, mainly pedestrian street. The cable car to the peak of Monte Baldo is a 5 min walk (go first thing - when we came back down around 1pm the que was a well over hundred and not fun looking). Ferries run regularly to other towns, and Malcesine itself has some nice restaurants and whilst busy it is not overly 'resorty'. The Thursday music performances at the castle are great. Lake Garda is a very pretty area.

Room - Room at back next to quiet road and amazing views of the mountain range. There is clearly a difference in rooms - the new build is more contemporary (our room could have done with a new TV). Rooms at the back have access to a balcony overlooking the lake. Overall, the room was very good with air conditioning and comfortable bed. Charging 8 euro for the room safe seems a bit unnecessary (and unusual?)

Dining - excellent choice at breakfast (range of cheeses, ham, fruit, cooked eggs, etc.). For the evening menu there was a choice of three starters and three mains (inc. fish option each night). The chef does a fantastic choice in offering variety and we enjoyed our meal each night over a week. The waiting staff are absolutely brilliant - attentive and charming.

Communal areas - always immaculately clean and well-kept. There is a decked terrace and a peaceful garden to choose from; there were plenty of seats and sun beds and it was a relaxing and peaceful setting. There is an affinity whirlpool sitting next to the lake (not having a swimming pool is absolutely fine with the lake and whirlpool offering plenty of swimming/bathing options)

A massive stand out feature of this hotel is how welcoming and committed the staff are. Marco was very happy to help with anything - extra sun umbrellas, drinks on the terrace, etc. His personal touch ensure a very memorable and relaxing holiday.

Highly recommended and thanks to Marco and all his staff.

Looking for an ideal location and excellent accomodation and service, this is the place to stay. We spent 14 nights in a twin room overlooking Monte Baldo. We were greeted by Marco the owner who escorted us personally to our room and offered storage for our suitcases to maximise the space. The room was immaculate at all times with a bathroom containing spacious shower, sink, toilet fold down bidet and hairdryer. There was ample wardrobe, drawer and cupboard space with proper coat hangers and a full length mirror. There was a table and two chairs and a tv. We had a balcony outside our room and the opportunity to use a lakeside view balcony as well. Air conditioning was available and effective.
The dining room is surrounded by glass on 3 sides providing an exceptional vew across the lake and spectacular sunsets whilst dining in the evening.Breakfast was a deliciousand varied selection for all tastes and appetites and a waiter took your tea and coffee order providing a basket containing a selection of tea bags. You could use this opportunity to order freshly cooked eggs.
Your evening meal order was taken by Marco at the end of breakfast and there were 3 choices for starter and main always a good variation, dessert was chosen in the evening.
There was a good selection of wines reasonably priced to expensive for the discerning palate and a bottle could be kept for you for the following evening if you did not finish it. Marco was willing to give advice on wine choice and his bottle opening skills were entertaining.Wine by the glass was also served along with a wide range of other drinks.
The whirlpool was refreshing and comfortable if you did not wish to swim in the lake itself. The decking area and garden had plenty of seats and loungers and bathing towels could be hired. Drinks could be purchased during the day and served in the garden or on the decking.
Marco and his waiting staff provided first class and seamless service with a smile and conversation should you wish. The food quality and selection was excellent.
The cleaning staff were unobtrusive and excellent, our room door was even cleaned.
The lounge and veranda at the front of the hotel were popular areas to relax in. A key for the side door was provided if you were to be out beyond 11p.m.
Marco gave some great tips on various places to enhance our holiday and he was ever present so that if we had encountered a problem I know he would have been available.
He was there in person to escort us to the mini bus when we left in the early morning.
I would anticipate an early return to this hotel as we were so impressed. We went home feeling totally relaxed due in great part to our time spent at the Vega.
For us this was the perfect hotel.

Top class service, food and accommodation. Excellent location. Cannot be faulted - management team go beyond the normal call of duty and help make the holiday. Would not hesitate to recommend the Vega - this will be our first choice for a return.

My partner and I spent a very enjoyable week at the Hotel Vega To celebrate her birthday,The room with Lake view was spacious and very comfortable.Food was excellent and even though it was continental breakfast there was plenty of choice .After Marco (the owner} welcomed you into the dining room the 2 waiters along with Marco made eating a pleasure with their friendly and amusing conversation .Set in an ideal lakeside position with a very inviting whirlpool and a quiet garden area to sunbathe and only minutes away from the town centre this hotel is well positioned and very well recommended. Thanks again to Marco and all his staff.

Room Tip: for best scenery request lake view

The Hotel was wonderfully clean and well kept. There were numerous choices for breakfast and the evening meal gave a choice of three intermediate and three main meal choices - all food to a very high standard.Marco the owner/manager was great,as were his staff - we see in some reviews that Marco's sense of humour was not to everyones taste ( apparently he's a bit like marmite - you either love him or hate him - we love him) The location was excellent, only 5 mins walk from the main centre of Malcesine, the bus stop and the ferry terminal. Although this close to everything there was no noise problem. All in all an excellent place to stay. (ps - his drink prices are the same as many hostelries in the area )

I visited the Hotel Vega in July with my fiance. The hotel far outshone what we had expected.

It was immaculate, from the reception, to the rooms, to the dip pool to the staff. We were allocated room 5, with a long balcony and a roof top terrace with panoramic views of the lake and its own patio set and lounges with parasol. The room was comfortable, with air conditioning and its own fridge which was kept fully stocked and at quite a reasonable price.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owner and the staff. Comments on here stating that they were rude is ridiculouse. How many people do you now who can joke in English, French, German and Italian. I know I cant but they try. Those who took it the wrong way must be very sad and have no sense of humour.

We have been to many hotels around the world and this was in the top of our hot spots, certainly one to recommend.

The food was amazing, top quality and we did not have a bad meal in the week we stayed. The continental breakfast covered everything, even for me who is very hard to please. Four course main meal in the evening was stunning.

Absolutely amazing place, lovely people, ideally located

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a lake view - its worth it. Room 5 was the only one with a roof terrace we th...

We loved every minute of our fortnight stay here.
Marco is a completely professional and dedicated owner and it shows. His staff are hard-working and obliging ,plus they have great personalities. The waiter who has been at this hotel for one season had us smiling every day with his jokes and I much prefer that to the uncaring, take it or leave it type or to an owner that the guest never sees.
If you ask, you recieve. Beach towels, extra ice-cream,use of the iron in the laundry ,advice on the local area.....all available on request.

Yes, Marco has high standards and he knows how he wants his hotel to be and that is for the benefit of his guests. Why beef about the front door being locked at 11pm. when you have your own key for goodness sake?!

If you don't love it here I'll eat my sunhat!
