We stayed at the Vega from 28 May to 4 June and had a truly relaxing holiday. We had a large room on the top floor, room 21, with fantastic view of the lake through a glass balcony. The room was immaculately clean, as was all the hotel, and had a good sized bathroom with walk-in shower. There was a flat screen TV and large comfy sofa plus two full size wardrobes so loads of hanging space.

The staff were wonderful and Marco the owner was exremely attentive and helpful.
The food was excellent and every night we tried something different from a good menu. Good wine list too.

We have stayed in Malcesine twice before, at the Capri which was nice but not so good location, and at the Du Lac which had great location but awful room and food, so the Vega is a wnner for us. Would love to go back again.

Room Tip: We had the deluxe room so paid quite a supplement.

I should tell you all to stay at the Du Lac Hotel so that when I book to go back to the Vega tthere will still be a room free for me again.

what can I say. The hotel was excellent with good food and we had a lovely sized room although some guests with us didn't and the hotel is in a super position overlooking the lake near to the town. But Marco the owner does not set out to make guests feel comfortable and relaxed on holiday. Lights are dimmed at 11pm if you choose to sit in the foyer/bar which effectively sends everyone to bed and we were told to 'ssshhh' on more than one occasion when just having a chat with other guests. I could go on but enough to say we did not feel comfortable and although the location was ideal the holiday was spoilt.

My husband and I spend a week at the Vega in early September The Vega is a small family run hotel idealy situated right on the lake . A five minute walk in one direction brings you to the ferry terminal and the restaurants and shops , while five minutes in the other direction is a lovely lakeside promenade .
There are five different room types all priced differently . Standard rooms , partial lake veiw rooms , side lakeveiw room , lake veiw rooms and delux lake veiw rooms .
As we had booked last minute with Thomson we had to settle for a standard room . The standard rooms are at the front of the hotel overlooking the street and Monte Baldo . Our room was on the first floor and was very small . There were two single beds pushed together a table and two chairs . There was a small television which had two english stations BBC world service, and Eurosport . There was a safe in the wardrobe available to rent for 8 euros a week . The room had airconditioning but this was not turned on during the day . The bathroom was miniscule but was equipted with a hair dryer . There was a balcony with chairs .
Thev dinning room was delightful with picture windows on three sides overlooking the lake . You are allocated the same table for your stay . Breakfast was continental with fruit cereals cold meats cheese and pastries ,althought you could order cooked eggs . After breakfast Senor Marco took your order for diner from a choice of three starters and three main courses . Choice was excellent a fish dish i.e salmon , sea bass, trout ,a meat dish ,veal ,pork, turkey or steak . Desserts were ordered at the table and varied . The food was delicious and beautifuly presented . However some guests were not happy with the portion sizes
There was a wine list with most bottles around 20 euro ,a bottle of water 2.50 euros and 4 euro for a beer . Wine was also available by the glass . If you didn't finish your wine at dinner it was recorked and served to you at your next meal . Drinks were charged to your room and you are given an itimised bill at checkout . But beware the hotel only accepts cash .
Senor Marco acts as head waiter and wine waiter and the service is efficient and courteous.
There is also a bar in the lobby with comfortable seating . There is no internet access .
The hotel capitalises on its position on the lake with a delightful decking area equipted with sun longers and parasols where you can enjoy a drink and watch the sunset . There are steps leading into the lake but I found it very cold . However some of the hardier German guests enjoyed a swim every day . There is also a decent sized whirlpool and a shower . Pool towels are not provided . To the left of the whirlpool there is a garden with additional loungers and parasols . There is also a private car park .
There is also a shower room and toilet on the lower ground floor .
The hotel is exceptionly clean and well run and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Superb location. Room overlooked street so able to watch world go by. On lakeside and handy for town. Food in hotel excellent but spoiled by price of wine. A bottle of house red €16 and the same wine in a lakeside bar €8 a litre! Beer also expensive so not much wine sold and people avoided the hotel bar. Shame really but don't let it put you off the hotel, there are plenty of cheap places to drink nearby.
