“Perfect location”
Reviewed June 22, 2009

We go to the Hotel Sirena at least 3 times/year.
The hotel has a perfect location (close to everything), it's very clean, has parking (which is essential when you go by car to Malcesine), the staff is friendly, the breakfast is good and from this year the terrace outside, on the lake, has been renewed. It's much bigger than before and has a very relaxing jacuzzi.
I was reading some reviews and found some are kind of unfair so that's why I decided to write my opinion too. For example, I never had problems to charge my cell phone, I didn't even know that this is not allowed, never saw any notice on the room... the hotel bar is supposed to close at 22h (which is understandable for a little hotel) but normally stays open till around 23h, sometimes longer if there's people consuming there. The prices are ok, didn't change since 2007, as far as I could note.
It's normal that you can't consume drinks that you brought from outside in the hotel bar when they sell the same there and also normal that you have to pay to get ice for a drink that you didn't buy there. I mean, at least I have seen this before in other hotels around the world, in Brazil to give a name.
About air conditioner.... when you book the hotel, you know there's no air conditioner.... plus when you go to Italy in spring/summer you expect to have some good and warm weather, don't you?? I do!! Otherwise I could stay home, in the cold, grey and rainny Germany....

The hotel sirena is a very clean, well decorated hotel in a prime location right on the banks of beautiful Lake Garda, just yards away from the centre of Malcesine .An ideal spot if you want a quiet holiday.Although only 2 star rated, one or two of the in-house prices do not reflect thisand nobody seems to be striving for an upgrade to 3stars or better.the hotel amentities are finished about 10pm--no tea, coffee or alchol,so a drink in your mini-bar?Sorry not available.a bedtime tea or coffee then?Sorry not allowed in your bedroom-even if you supply your own equiptment!!The hotel rules stipulate you cannot use, in fact the only thing you can plug in is an electric shaver,so if you want to re-charge your mobile phone you have to cheat a little.Maybe bring a bottle of the finest local Italian wine back to drink in the midnight hour?Well if you ordered some ice before the 10pm lockdown ,it will now be just cool water as the hotel has no thermal ice buckets-- just jugs!!And the ice?not gratis but one euro for 5 cubes (Thats 4 shillings per cube to those of us who remember proper money)So if you do want a quiet holiday youve hit the bullseye-------- in conclusion, the hotel is without air-conditioning,but you do get a big fan ----unfortunatly I am not one of them !!!!

my husband and I celebrated my 50th in the hotel sirena malcesine. The hotel is basically a B&B Italian style. The accommodation is very clean, although quite characterless-a bit IKEA flat pack. The owners were a little non communicative, When we booked in, they didn't promote the hotel facilities at all, just told us the breakfast arrangements. Even the 'fact brochure' in the bedroom didn't mention the bar facilities or the fact you could buy snacks etc. There was also a hottub on the new outdoor decked area, but no indication if it was for use by residents. Contrary to other reviews, we thought the breakfast was fine, toast, cheese, ham, preserves cereal,OJ,yoghurt, fruit, coffee, what more do you want?. Eating out every day is VERY expensive(the strong euro doesn't help) but fish is very expensive, The shops are a bit touristy, but most will haggle a discount if pressed. We thought the town was one of the nicest holiday destinations we have ever been to, so pretty, spotless, with lots to do. It is the only place we have promised ourselves to revisit-but half board or self catering due to the really high cost of eating out.Overall though, I would recommend the Sirena,I have stayed in 4* hotels in Italy not as good as this "wee 2*" and it couldn't be more central

Our stay at this hotel was not as good as other reviewers experiences;
the main owners were on holiday, and the temp managing staff may have been their children (in their 20's), who unfortunately we found to be rude and unfriendly, especially the daughter- which was unfortunate, because it was going to be difficult to ruin a holiday in lake garda for me, as it is one of my favourite destinations...
The room was facing the street, and a lake facing room may have made some difference; as it was our room was tiny, ludicrously hot (no air con) so that i was forced to sleep on the balcony, and was regularly infested with ants. It also got quite noisy early on, with road traffic.
On the positive the deck and deckside bar was good, and the hotel is close to a bus station and cable car.
We went out as much as possible, and made the best of it, but didn't get a lot of sleep at night, for the wrong reasons. We'll go to Riva next time

Malcesine is probably the best centre for a Lake Garda holiday, with an interesting town centre, good road and ferry communications and the "must do" cable car trip. Basically the whole of the Lake Garda area is a tourist trap, with the lakeside towns full of overpriced trite souveneir shops or very expensive boutiques/shoe shops. Eating out is variable in quality and not cheap - it pays to get local advice. Having said that it is a stunning region scenically. The Hotel Sirena is right on the lakeside, bang in the centre of Malcesine. The rooms are small and fairly basic, some have balcony with lakeside views, showers rather than baths. Bed & Breakfast is the only option with the breakfast being very limited in choice to the point of being frugal. The Hotel staff are friendly, multi-lingual and ready to please and the standard of housekeeping we found high. There is a small public area and well-stocked bar and a beautiful new (2008) private terrace right on the lakeside with sunbeds, jaccuzzi and lake swimming, temperature permitting. The Sirena is not luxurious but offers a very decent standard of accommodation at a very competative price for the area. It's location and it's lakeside terrace are the big plus marks.

We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Sirena where we had a very comfortable stay. The hotel is situated right on the lake front and is really well located for the restaurants and bars of Malcesine, all of which are within a couple of min walk.

We booked the hotel by e-mail with no problems as the owners were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is a small family run hotel with parking out front (which is essential in Malcesine!). We had an adequate size room with 2 single beds with a flat screen TV and clean toilet/shower room. Our room had spectacular views of Lago di Garda and we had our own private balcony which was fantastic to sit out on in the evening before going out. Note that not all rooms offer lake views (about 5 or 6 out of approx 16 do). The hotel offers a small typical Italian continental buffet breakfast which was more than adequate for ourselves. There is a terrace with steps into the lake, which we tried (albeit the lake was quite cold so we didn't make too much use of it).

The hotel was excellent for what it was, which was a good value Italian lake side B&B.

My partner and I spent 4 nights at the Hotel Sirena and we had a brilliant stay. The hotel is situated right on the lake front and is really well located for the shops, restaurants and bars in Malcesine (about a 2 min walk away).

It is a small family run hotel and the owners are very friendly and helpful - we were late arriving and they rang us to see where we were and waited up especially! Our room was more than adequate in size, 2 beds with a flat screen TV and spotlessly clean bathroom with shower. Our room had spectacular views of Lago di Garda and we had our own private balcony. Not all rooms offer lake views so request one if possible. The hotel offers a small continental buffet breakfast which we found more than adequate. The hotel also has a small terrace with sun loungers and direct access to the lake if you fancy a swim. There is also car parking available if required and a small bar which serves drinks and snacks during the day.

Overall we had a lovely stay in this hotel and we would definitely stay here again. The Sirena has to have one of the best locations in Malcesine and is great value for money.
