“Pleasant stay”
Reviewed June 22, 2012

We had a week in early June. Room with balcony facing the mountain. Our room was compact, fairly basic but clean. This is what we expected and therefore no complaints. Superb setting right on the Lake front. Owners very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Decking over looking the Lake was a lovely spot. Hotel close to restaurants and the Ferry.

A nice family run hotel but under any circumstances do not book room 14 described as a head to head room but is in fact two single beds, foot to foot, squeezed into what should be a single room or linen store.
Its the size of a rabbit hutch and its a bit like sleeping in a corridor. You can almost use the bathroom basin without getting out of bed.

Room Tip: Choose room 14 at your peril.

This is a really nice little place, ideally situated close to the centre of town, and is a friendly and well run family hotel. The rooms are small but very clean and well decorated. We had a room overlooking the front street but there is little traffic and street noise in Malcesine. Very nice deck on the lake front for those who want to spend the afternoon sunbathing. We intend to stay here again, which is perhaps the best recommendation we can give.

Room Tip: There is no air conditioning, which was not a problem in May, but those travelling in summer months...

We stayed here about 8 years ago and returned, simply because of the location and value for money. We didn't have a balcony and the room was basic, small but adequate - in such a lovely resort who'd want to spend much time in their room anyway! The patio/jetty area to sit out on had been extended and wine/beers are reasonably priced for a lovely sundowner before you venture out for the evening. However, my only gripe was not being allowed tap water from your room outside if sunbathing during the day. Petty! Breakfast nothing to get excited about, croissants are a once a week treat! But the coffee machine for cappuccinos in a morning was welcome and you are allowed to take this to the area outside after breakfast which is nice. If the family that own this small hotel went out of their way to be a tad more friendly this would've scored 5 stars.

Room Tip: The outside area to sunbathe/sit/read is lovely thankfully so it didn't bother us having a small...

As I've written on my previous review, we go to Malcesine at least 3 times / year and stay at the Hotel Sirena. In 2011, by now, we have been there in may and it was wonderful as always. The hotel keeps getting better, every year there is something new.
Can't wait to go there again soon!

Hotel Sirena is located on the lake at the quieter southern end of Malcesine, yet it is just a few minutes walk from the centre of town and the ferry terminal - a fantastic location, given that some other local hotels are quite a long way from the centre. The hotel rooms are spotlessly clean and provide all necessary facilities. For a 2-star hotel, the value-for-money is excellent. We would recommend this hotel to other travellers and would have no hesitation in returning. Our side-facing room didn't have a balcony (whereas lake-facing or mountain-view rooms do), but we did have an angled view of the lake and mountain. The hotel owners were friendly and helpful, even providing a flask of coffee and some biscuits in lieu of breakfast on the morning we departed. Breakfast in the hotel; was simple, but more than adequate, putting some more expensive hotels to shame. Overall, we found the hotal perfect for our needs.

For a 2-star hotel, family owned, I would recommend it. Overlooking Lake Garda, it has magnificent views, with a relaxed atmosphere, it is extremely good value.
