Front of hotel is very picturesque and if you have a lake view bedroom then you will enjoy your stay better. Our room was at the back of the hotel so our view was a 50 foot wall which was the main road, absolutely nothing to look at, the room was very pokey and dark. I asked for a room change on 2 consecutive days and you would think I was asking for her blood, I got the distinct impression the manageress does not like the English at all !! If you stay there INSIST on a lake view. The breakfast was awfull, bread roll, couple of slices of meat and skanky egg. Even the juice was powder, they couldn't even put proper juice on. All hotels in Malcesine are expensive but if you are going to stay in Rosa make sure you don't get a room at the back.

Room Tip: INSIST on a lake view, otherwise do not stay there.

The view from the hotel is beautiful, it is a nice quiet location with a pretty 2km walk into Malcesine. The staff were friendly and the food was tasty, breakfast did not have much choice. The rooms were small and the bathrooms even smaller which is a shame.

Our second stay holiday at Malcesine staying at Hotel Rosa. Not often that a second visit lives up to your first memories. Hotel Rosa does. Lovely setting, friendly management and staff, half board good option, great pool, very convenient-no need for a rental car. We will return again. But you must have a room with balcony overlooking lake.

Room Tip: You must have a room with a balcony looking to the lake.

Worth extra for a balcony with lake view. No complaints at all. Went half board and the food and service was good although breakfast selection range may have been better. The girl who served us Adela was very friendly and made meal times a pleasure, thanks for helping me practice learning Italian Adela. The room was good and pool excellent. A good scenic walk from Malcesnie, for those who struggle with walking there is a tourist bus every hour 1 Euro. Ideally placed for trips to Verona etc. Would recommend.

Just come back from a week in Hotel Rosa. Would recommend, we went with Thomas Cook on a half board and it worked out very good value as eating/drinking out can be expensive (UK prices). One note, everyone is over 40yrs so perfect for those looking for a quiet holiday without young'uns and kids (although it is a family friendly hotel). Hotel room was adequate, although its worth paying a bit extra for the lake view. Maids come in every day, even if you ask not to but it ensures a very clean hotel. Pool was very cold though, so if like heated you might want to try Hotel Maximillion which is next door and an extra star. Staff were lovely, especially the receptionist who was most helpful when my boyfriend fell ill with a virus (carried from home!). Food was good although if you are fussy, you might struggle as the Lake Garda italians love their oil and everything comes caked in it. Just so you know, lake Garda has a lot of german tourists so english is minimal although it didn't cause too many problems, so either brush up on your german or italian OR, be clear! All in all, well recommended, the views are breathtaking and there's plenty to do. From catching the 1 euro tourist bus around the lake if you aren't much of a walker, through to paragliding off the mountain top, cycling, canoeing and wind surfing if you are itchy for a bit of activity. The school next to the hotel doesn't really offer places for tourists to windsurf so have a walk north and you'll find loads that will offer good prices. We took a kayak for 2 hours which cost 15euros and the wet suits were free. If you have any questions, happy to help (alison.abel.uk@gmail.com).

Room Tip: Rooms without a balcony (no view) are ok but if you have the spare cash to pay a little extra, its definitely worth paying for. Basic rooms with 2 singles pushed together, wardrobe, 2 cupboards and bathroom with shower. They provide small shower gels, soaps, and shower cap, plus towels. This is all replaced each day (even if you say its not necessary)
