If you are staying for a long weekend or as wedding guests then this small hotel is ideally situated in the midst of the town. In a cobbled street only a 100 yards away from the lake the hotel is perfect for getting around and about. Whilst the rooms are basic, they are very clean and offer a good night's rest. The rooms are spacious with good double glazing and whilst there is no air con, there are fans in the rooms which are sufficient to keep you cool at night. The bathrooms are spacious and include a small shower with plentiful hot water. Breakfast consists of cold meat, cheese, cereals, the option to boil your own eggs how you like them along with fresh rolls and sliced bread for toast. Good coffee and fruit juices and water are also offered along with fresh fruit and yogurt. Claudia was very helpful and arranged hotel transfers to and from Verona Airport at 20 Euros per person each way.

Room Tip: We had room 203 which had a king size double, my son and his wife had 201 which had a king size double, a single and a travel cot.

Cracking hotel this for the money. Rooms were simple, perhaps a bit basic but nothing was really lacking plus it was clean and a good size. The bathroom was also quite big and my only comment was that the shower kept sliding down the pole when you were in it but to be fair it amused me more than it annoyed me.
Breakfast was good, very typical continental style buffet..small choice but all good and fresh and you can have as much as you want!
The location of this hotel is what absolutely seals the deal.. You are just steps away from the lake, the harbour, shops and restaurants as it's just so well placed.

Free WiFi ! Super fast elevator ! Really hot room. Almost +40C degree inside with no air conditioner option even when the windowses 'n door were open. Hotel owner and employees were really nice and helpful. Morning coffee was like morning breakfast instead. :) Takes only a minute to go to the restaurant or in front of the lake.

I stayed at Hotel Modena for 7 nights with my daughter for her friends wedding. The position of the hotel is unrivaled in the middle of the town. Everything you could want is within a few steps of the front door. It was slightly reminiscent of the old B & B's in England with dinner at 7 pm and the choice of meal needing to be ordered the day before! We did not eat there every night and indeed always had just toast for breakfast as the quality of the meals was poor in a country with such beautiful ingredients available. I was acutely aware that we were in a 2 star choice of accommodation.
On the plus side we were in a very comfortable, clean hotel with a very caring hostess. Our room was directly off of the terrace allowing my daughter to step out of the room and smoke when she wished. (Room 105) It was hot at night as there was no air con or even a fan. It was inconvenient to only be issued with 1 key and other guests were heard to find this difficult too.
All the ladies working at the hotel (I believe it was all family run) were very hard working pleasant and caring but the man who I believe was the owner was brusque and I felt probably only had time for Italians.
On the whole the hostesses attitude and her standards of cleanliness and hygiene alongside the comfortable beds made the stay acceptable but i would shop around more if I return there as the price was not representative of the standard.

Room Tip: Room 105 had the large window and was at the back so we did not hear street noise at night.

We found the hotel Modena to be in a brilliant location; it is minutes from the lake, shops and dozens of restaurants in malcesine. (And opposite a brilliant ice cream parlour!) the room itself was basic but, clean and ours even had a balconette entrance (306). There is also a small area with sun loungers off the first floor which is brilliant for sitting and catching the sun- you can buy drinks from inside to take and enjoy out there. The breakfast is definitely not the best I have had but, it was fine. There are so many places to eat so close buy that you could eat elsewhere if you preferred. If you are going to malcesine for a very active holiday then this is perfect but, if you were planning on spending a lot of time in a luxury hotel then this is not best for you.

Room Tip: Rooms 305 and 306 are top level with balconette facing into the area with sun loungers. 205 and 206 the next level down with balconette and 105 and 106 are the bottom floor with balconette and easiest access to sun loungers. Not sure on other rooms but suspect they face onto the Main Street.
