Pleasantly surprised with the Hotel, deserves more than 2 stars. Staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Rooms were clean and tidy, ours had a balcony overlooking the lake. Not too much choice with food but what there was was excellent. Rooms were cleaned each day to a high standard. Pool is very cold!!!! Only a 5 minute walk to the Lakeside and 15 minutes to town centre. Downside: on main road so is a little noisy, but lots of other hotels also on the same road. Malcesine is a very pretty place, a trip on the Cable Car is a must. Most of the shop assistants and restaurant staff all speak very good English and are very friendly and helpful.
A very enjoyable holiday.

We're a family with 2 teenage daughters, who admittedly had to book our holiday in August last minute. Saw the Casa Serena on the website, and looked nice enough, so did the booking.

Hotel fairly basic, and not particularly customer friendly (although we realise its only 2 star). Rooms don't have air-con so particularly at night it can be hard to sleep, as also right by the busy road which runs around the Lake. (It can sound like a F1 race track during the nights!)

Quite alot of rules (no food in the rooms etc) - and not particularly welcoming in the breakfast/dining room. No lifts, so not ideal if you have disabilities to get to the second floor (or carry luggage up/down). Breakfast fairly limited, and soon needs replenishing.

Had to pay in cash (no cards taken) at the end of the stay - which posed alot of problems getting large sums of cash out of the cash machines in town (which obviously have limits)

Summary: Malcesine is a great place to visit - loads of lovely places to see, and things to do. Also great for visiting other cities such as Verona & Venice. Loads of great places to eat/drink in Malcesine, so wouldn't recommend more than B & B at the hotel. Had a great week, just wish the hotel had felt more welcoming to us, and more customer friendly.

Room Tip: Zimmer zur Straße haben einen tollen Ausblick auf den See, Zimmer zum Monte Baldo sind ruhiger, da von der Via Gardesana abgewandt.
