“View - Check, Great Food - Check, Amazing Staff - Check!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2012

My partner and I stayed in a room on the second floor of this hotel with the most amazing view out of the balcony of the lake. You are literally right on the beach and town is only a pleasent 15 minute walk around the coast. It's a great setting with some good resturants and cafes around. The bustle of town is not far at all. For those on half board or full board, you will be very happy indeed! The choice of food is great and one of my dinners there was literally the best thing I've ever put in my mouth! Everyone speaks English but they tolerated me trying to practice my Italian and were very happy to help with that. The room was fabulous - clean, big comfortable bed, great 'waterfall' shower and plenty of space. Hairdryer and toiletries, towels, safe, TV provided. Staff as friendly and accomodating as they get. Heated outdoor pool with a poolside bar, games room and internet access. We were there as guests for a wedding. Recommend throughly.

We stayed at the Val di Sogno for our wedding and honeymoon. From the moment of booking a year ago, Silvia (one of the owner's daughters - this is a PROPER family run hotel) could not have been more helpful. We built up a friendship over email, through the winter when the hotel was shut, and Silvia always answered my queries promptly and with patience.

When we got to the hotel (with 20-odd guests too) we were welcomed like old friends. Our room had been upgraded to the biggest room in the hotel (302) with a private balcony.

The hotel is immaculate, some rooms have been modernised and are up to date with great bathrooms, others have not yet been updated (like ours) but are still clean, comfortable and very, very nice. All the rooms have the most amazing view of the lake - a sight which I could look at forever.

The breakfast buffet is comprehensive, with a great selection of cheese and meats, fruit, yoghurt and boiled/scrambled eggs and bacon. Dinners are also excellent, chef certainly knows how to cook fish!! Salad bar, pasta course, fish/meat and dessert with coffee. Delicious!

We cannot wait to return to Hotel Val di Sogno, to see Silvia, her sister Patrizia, Magda and all the other superb staff and to see that view!

Go and stay there, you'll remember it forever.

Room Tip: Some rooms are more modern than others, the hotel is modernising them in stages, but of all the room...

We were in Malcesine for a wedding and we could not have chosen a better hotel. It was spotlessly clean, the staff were always around and helpful but not 'in your face'. The food, and the restaurant staff, were excellent, with a fair choice of meals every day. The hotel is situated just outside town so it is lovely and quiet with stunning views over the lake. It is very easy to do the 25 minute lake-side walk into Malcesine or to use the Tourist Bus which stops just a few hundred metres from the hotel. As a small family-run hotel I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

We just came home from a splendid holiday in the val di sogno hotel. We booked a 'splendid' room, situated on the third floor of the hotel, with, as the hotel says, a splendid view on the garda lake, with a great terrace, beautiful!
We enjoyed for a 100% that view for a whole week! Not only the view was splendid but also the service in the room, which was large and clean untill the smallest details, the perfect maintained surroundings, bar, swimming pool, green areas etc...
At breakfast everything was available, and dinner (we booked half board) was always as delicious as the day before. In short: a perfect managed family hotel where you love to go every time you got the chance, in order to forget the stress and to relax in a such a nice environnement!

Had travelled to Malcesine for a wedding - what I didn't realise was that all the hotels close down in the winter, or have a skeleton staff, so getting a reservation proved irksome. The Castello ignored 3/4 emails and several telephone calls, various hotels didn't open until after the wedding, others wouldn't accept a two day stay - so that left Val di Sogno and the Europa - Val di Sogno first to respond and as I wanted to lock in a hotel, paid a reservation charge and the booking was confirmed. The Europa responded some time later and it does look like a nice hotel, very modern, another 4 star, no 5 stars, well I couldn't find any in the immediate area.

The hotel is clean and modern but is a bit blah, no atmosphere and everything is a blur of pale yellow, beige and yellowy cream furniture, a bit ikea, - needs an injection of colour.

Our room was perfectly pleasant if a little dull, wonderful views and excellent bathroom fittings with a big shower.

The breakfast buffet was ok, coffee from a machine, nothing exciting. The staff are charming and very helpful. The grounds are immaculate. The hotel was way down on occupancy as the season has yet to start.

Tips - you can walk to Malcesine town along the Lake but it is not 15 minutes as we were led to believe, a good 25/30 minutes but a nice walk nevertheless.

There are only 3 taxis in the town and you have to get a number and call - we used Vitto who shuttled us in and out of Malcesine - especially useful at night after a late boozy meal when we didn't feel like the walk back.

all in all a pleasant stay.

We stayed at the Val Di Sogno for 8 days in August 2011. After alot of searching this was the hotel that we also recommended to our close family and friends who came over for our wedding.
The hotel was superb and the views were amazing. It is was a fantastic week lead up to our wedding and as a few young children were also in our party they made us feel very welcome.
The food was fantastic the only down side was that you had to choose what you wanted at breakfast. They were very accommadating for our children and made meals to suit their requirements.
The pool area was lovely and they also had a smaller pool for the younger children and small play area, which was great.
My husband, brother and sister in law all swam in the Lake daily and said how lovely the water was.
There is a bar just up the road which is right on the corner as you enter the road to reach the Val Di Sogno, which was also good for late night drinking! and reasonably priced. The owners and staff were also very friendly although had limited English but we managed with our fantastic british sign language of large beer and litre of wine!!
The only down side to our holiday was on leaving the Val Di Sogno they tried to charge us for a cot that we had not requested. We argued for about 3 hours and after threatening to have me arrested (the day before my wedding!!!) the matter was eventually resolved and although was a fault of Citalia (travel company) not ours I felt that as a large party of 13 we spent a substantial amount of money both with booking the hotel in peak season and also with the amount spent whilst at the hotel, this matter could of been dealt with more promptly and without the threats! This was our only downside and I hope this was only a one off.
However if this was a one off I would highly reccommend this hotel, especially for the views.
