service not always the best, think our nationality gave the game away and led to a poorer service than the locals.

Having read several positive reviews on trip advisor we decided to try La Pace while staying in Malcesine. We had read that the food was consistently delicious and that it was a lively sociable restaurant, and that was exactly what we found.

The restaurant has an extended terrace to the front overlooking the lake amidst several other restaurant terraces creating a sociable outdoor eating vibe.

They were full when we arrived, and even without a booking came to greet us and said they would have a table for us soon. We sat down about five minutes later which is no hardship when you have the lake to look out over.

The place is bustling, the tables are very close together and the atmosphere, partly aided by the very friendly staff, is very sociable and chatty. We were soon chatting to a lovely couple on the table next to us whilst ordering our food.

We ordered the full grilled sea bass with spinach and sautéed potatoes on the side. The seabass was literally cooked to perfection; soft and sweet with nice crisped edges. The spinach was delicious with plenty for two to share though the potatoes, whilst yummy, were smaller in portion.

The staff are constantly reorganizing and moving tables to accommodate new customers (which was partly why we didn’t have to long too wait) and this adds to the semi-hectic, but constantly welcoming feel of the place.

There doesn't seem to be any options for house wine larger than half a carafe which does bump up the bill a bit, but this is definitely made up for with their complimentary limoncelo :O)

It seems that every table is given a bottle to limoncello to help themselves to after their food and the couple next to us were sharing theirs with us whilst we were still eating. Once they had paid up and left another couple were moved next to us and we all shared more limoncello which certainly kept the party going.

We enjoyed our meal that much that we decided to eat there again on our last night. This time we also had a starter to share and chose the Beef Carpaccio with Parmesan and rocket. This came on two plates already split for two people and each portion was large enough for sure. It was truly delicious. Again the staff were really friendly and even gave us a complimentary tiramisu when they relocated us to accommodate for a larger party who had arrived towards the end of the night (fine with us :O)

I’d say the food is well worth the money. Our first meal which was large mains with 2 bottles of wine came in at approx. €75 and out second with one bottle of wine and a starter was similar. The quality of food was really delicious and the service, atmosphere and view just lovely. Would thoroughly recommend if visiting Malcesine and will certainly revisit when we next go back.

We had a great evening here. The tables are very close together so you have to be sociable!!
The food was very good with HUGE portions especially the starters. We were offered free Limoncello in the form of a whole bottle and , after chatting all night to the next table , realised we had drank all of it ( both tables!! ) They didn't mind and we gave them a large tip.

We visited a second time and chatted to people, although we passed on the Limoncello.
If you want a romantic meal and don't enjoy meeting new people you may not like it.

La Pace is in a lovely setting in the old port in Malcesine. The restaurant is very popular and does get busy in the evenings but the food and atmosphere is very good. Well worth a visit.
