The Amalfi Coast is an experience all unto its own, so I'm sure glad we stayed at such a wonderful hotel that allowed us to relax and get away from the insanity of the Italian drivers! From the moment we stepped foot onto the property to the time we drove away, we felt as though we had been pampered. It seemed as though Franco worked 24-hours a day; whether he was hauling luggage to rooms, bringing up bottles of Prosecco, valeting cars - you needed something, Franco was there to help. He was a lovely, lovely man! And then there was Marcello, who made our first night very memorable by arranging dinner in our room - and it was a large, wonderful dinner at that! We wanted a LARGE cup of very strong coffee in the morning - Marcello was our man! 5-shots of espresso, a little water, a little cream, and voila! Fantastic! We had a Junior Suite and it had plenty of room...very lovely! The bathroom had a tub with hand help shower - not my cup of tea. This, and the fact there is no high speed internet in the rooms, are my only two complaints about this hotel. Otherwise, Hotel San Francesco is a fantastic, beautiful hotel to stay at if you're ever in Maiori!

This is a reasonably good hotel for the price, although its four star rating is stretching things. We were given a room on the top floor with a balcony and sea view. The view itself is largely blocked by the residential buildings in front, so not much of the sea, and none of the beach, remains to look at. The room itself is quite nice and spacious, with wooden paneling and ceramic tiles. Unfortunately, the washroom includes only a shower stall and there is no tub. There is a fridge but it is slow to cool. Also, there is no Internet access available, which is surprising given the four star rating. Parking is included, however, and the hotel staff will gladly park your car. The town of Maiori itself is quite pleasant. It seems to be a nice resort area to enjoy during the summer, with a beach (which is pebbly) and a nice little street lined with shops and market stalls. Unfortunately it, rained hard during our stay, so we could not enjoy it fully. Entertainment options inside the hotel are very limited. Anyway, the hotel is a reasonably good choice for this very exclusive area. The breakfast was a joke, though. When we arrived in the breakfast room, there were literally just three slices of cheese and ham out on a plate, and a few tiny buns. The milk jug was empty. There was nothing whatsoever to eat. Also, the chair on our balcony fell apart. The drive to the hotel itself along the coast is not for the faint of heart, as it is very narrow with lots of blind corners and crazy traffic complete with large tour buses and racing motorcycles, but fortunately this hotel is not too far from the main highway.

Arrived 10 October and had 7 days of sunshine. The hotel is set back from the road which reduces traffic noise from the main road .Although the staff have limited english they go our of their way to be friendly and hlepful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are very spacious and immaculate, we had a double with a small bed settee and a sea view though rather limited. The food was very fresh and tasty. Beach 2 mins away but no free beds at this time of year but Panorama hotel have at E10 for 2beds and brolley. Sea very clean and hubbie swam every day. Ideal location for either end of the coast as excellent bus service-tickets from Ginos-remember to validate and stop there for a tasty snack. We used local buses and from Salerno train service to Pompeii and Naples. Lots of trips on offer but very easy to do them yourself at this time of year. Resort is quiet but great for a relaxing break there are plenty nice walks along the front or down the backstreets or up to the hills. Do not miss Ravello-take tourist bus from Maiori E10 was a good option and comfortable. Local bus drivers a bit crazy but you get used to it---JUST!!Looked at the other hotels but we felt for value for money location and service this is the one and deserves its ranking on this site.

My wife and myself spent 1 week here in early October we had a very nice corner room on the front with a sea view.Im not sure if we just picked a bad week for food there but it was very average.we had the same soup 3 nights out of 7.Veal more or less every night as well as a fish dish. For breakfast some mornings there was no tinned fruit just cerael and bread.Bookings are down 40% in Italy this year perhaps hotels are cutting down on the amount of food they serve.Having said that we had a great time in Maiori the weather was lovely and sunny almost every day we used the local buses to get around 6 euro each for a 24 hour ticket. The coastline is stunning try to make time to visit the castle its a bit of a trek but well worth it for the view down to Maiori from there. It was our 1st visit to Italy and we shall return to this part again.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable, however we found the menu somewhat limited in choice. Vegertarians can simply forget it. Also there is a hidden catch BE WARNED all drinks are payable a the end of your stay and are VERY expensive. For example an orange juice is 5 Euros a small beer 3 Euros and water also at 3 Euros. We didnt have wine but there was an extensive wine list but no prices were displayed and the cheapest wine im told was 18Euros per bottle.
Guests were coming and going through out the early hours which often woke us. The walls were so thin you could here every word spoken in the next room not to mention any other activity that that was taking place in the rooms.
The main road is just a short distance from the hotel front and the traffic noise was absolutely awful. If your wanted to rest or simply doze in the afternoon then forget it. The vehicles are constantly hooting horns then there is a constant whine of motor scooters screeming by.
