“OVERALL - OK”

My husband and I have just returned from a holiday in Maiori staying at the Santa Tecla apartments. Whilst these apartments are in a good location they are nestled between residential apartment blocks 2 streets back from the main promenade. Our apartment was large, clean, bright and airy with adequate bathroom and kitchen facilities. Due to the position only 1/3rd of the pool area gets the sun in the morning, after 2pm it is all in the shade. This wasn't a problem for us as we were hardly there. However, guests are also able to use the roof terrace pool at the Panorama Hotel which is small but absolutely lovely, and as the beach is only a hop away it is unlikely to be a problem for hardened sun worshippers! Maoiri itself is beautiful and the villages of Amalfi and Ravello close by are stunning too - just a short 20 & 30 minute bus journey at most and well worth a visit. Vesuvius and Pompeii are also very worth while excursions.

My only criticism of these apartments is that the walls are very thin. Unfortunately there was lots of noise from our neighbours on both sides and above us. As we like to take things at a leisurely pace when we're on holiday we were disappointed to be woken at 6.30-7.30am by our neighbours whom we could hear making breakfast, banging pots and pans and cupboard doors most mornings. We also found the mattresses to be quite hard and the neighbouring toilet flushes rather loud. We won't be returning to these apartments but if you like to be out and about at the crack of dawn and don't mind a firm bed then these apartments are definitely worth a try.

I would've given a rating of 4/5 but because we were affected by the noise/thin walls I have deducted 1 point.

We will however return to Maoiri and the surrounding area - it's absolutely stunning!

Room Tip: Perhaps a corner apatment on the top floor would reduce the risk of noise from neighbouring apartmen...

We stayed in these spartments for the second time. We came in 2007 and enjoyed it so much, we returned again this summer. The apartment was clean and well equipped, with internet (although this was patchy in the apartment, better on the balcony). The pool was clean, and always had space with loungers. It is in central Maiori which was great, with parking, also good. The view is of another apartment block, but you are not paying top prices here. It is a few minutes walk to the beach and restaurants.
It is a good base from which to see the area, and we visited Mt Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano etc on our two trips here. Warning, the roads are, shall we say, interesting, and if you can do the same trip by boat or public transport, this is recommended for the nervous driver! It is quite slow too, although they are less nerve racking than when we came originally, as they have put in more traffic lights on the narrower stretches of road.
If you go to Capri, try to get the boats that take you to the Marina Grande rather than the Marina Piccola, unless you don't mind a hot walk uphill to the centre. If you go to the Marina Grande you can get the Funicular up the hill for a couple of euros. If there appears to be a queue, it can take about 80 people at a time, so we found that the queue went down quite quickly. We were also told to go early in the week,as Capri gets busier later.

We stayed for a week. We were very happy with the apartment and enjoyed Maoiri and Minori. The apartment (1 bedroom) was very spacious, spotlessly clean and adequately furnished. The pool was a good size and clean and all the staff were very friendly and helpful, as were the reception and restaurant/bar staff in the Panorama Hotel. The breakfast in the hotel was excellent. The town, beach and numerous bars/restaurants are all nearby and buses towards Amalfi or Salerno are quite frequent.

It's 50 meters from the principal road behind the other buildings which cuts it from sea view but gives silence at night.
Rooms are spacious (we took 50 meters appartments), big balcony, pool, parking (extra costs), laundry. It's quite new although simple. You can take breakfast at Panorama Hotel for just 5 euro if you take 10 or more. It's 100 meters walk and located on the roof with excellent sea view.
All in all good option for the families with kids who need space and a kitchen.

We travelled with Thomson holidays who use 10 of the apartments in a block of 35. Taken to the apartments by receptionist of the Panorama Hotel who own the apartments. There is a lift. It took about 3 - 4 minutes. You can use the facilities of the hotel inclluding evening meal and breakfast at a cost. We didn't so can't comment on this. The hotel has a private beach, next to the public beach, which has toilet, shower, and cafe facilities. They charge 10 euros a day and you are shown to your chair and bed and not allowed to select where you sit. Lovely sandy beach and clear sea.
The apartments are set back from the main road, almost amongst residential flats. Much quieter than being on the main road. There is a large swimming pool and the area was extremely well maintained - but the pool was very cold.
We had a one bedroom apartment which was very large, two single beds pushed together. The kitchen facilities were excellent. I was surprised to see a full size oven, full size fridge and a small freezer. The room was very clean. Sheets were changed 4 times during our 10 day stay. There is a double sofa bed in the loung area. My only concern is that if there were 4 friends the bathroom facilities are accessed via the main bedroom.
Supermarket within walking distance and a local delicatessen near the apartments.
A bus stop near the hotel takes you into Almafi where most of the buses to other towns, e.g. Ravello, go from. Bus tickets are available from the tobacconist near the apartments.
There is a ferry service into Amalfi and again onto Positano and Capri.
A walk over the hills from Maiori to Minori is well worth doing. Took us about 50 minutes.
Maiori seems to be 75 percent locals and 25 percent tourists. Plenty of restaurants to choose from and of course amazing ice cream!!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the pool, the others look at the cliff. We asked for a room on the top floor (502...

We had a Wonderful stay at the residence of Hotel Panorama Maiori. For no extra cost we were transferred from the hotel room to the residence, just two blocks from the hotel. Not only did we get two bedrooms and a kitchen, the location was a lot less noisy than at the main street and seafront. "To excuse for the inconvenience" we also got free access to the beach with sunchairs etc and free parking. For us the "inconvenience" was just a bonus. We had free Wifi at our balcony and at the beach.
The staff was at all times friendly and accomodating and fast in meeting any needs.
The breakfast, served at the roof terasse of the hotel with a beautiful view, was good, especially the coffee.
Maiori is not as pittoresque as the neighbouring villages Amalfi and Minori, but we appreciated the feeling of a genuine Italian village, with lower prices than at the tourist flooded places. Buses and ferrys go regularly to the neighbouring villages for daily excursions.
It feels like we really got a lot value for what we payed, around 80€ per night.
