“Excellent hotel!”

We stayed at Hotel Posta for 5 days and loved it. The atmosphere is cosy, the staff is professional and the food is great with lots of variety. The location right in the town centre was convenient for us and the kids, close to the slopes, shops, bars & restaurants. Kathy and Luigi, the owners are truly lovely hosts always available for requests.
Would definitely recommend it!

We took a 4-night break over Easter at the Hotel Posta, Livigno as a last minute booking, which we made direct with the hotel online. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised with good private parking for our car, a nice alpine style room with a balcony, and a reasonable bathroom. We didn’t get a bath, but the shower worked well. The room had plenty of storage, heating that worked, and twin beds which were just a little too hard and short for our tastes.
The location was good for the town centre, and for skiing the Carosello side of the valley, being right on the snow fairly near the nursery slopes and the lifts, and in theory also a fairly short walk to the main Mottolino lift serving the other side. In practice the walk is too long, and the ski-bus is little help as it doesn’t enter the pedestrianised town centre. Most people with cars drive to main lift stations.
Food in the hotel was good, mainly simple Italian cuisine, with the exception of the Easter Sunday dinner, which at seven courses, was at least two too many for the over-stretched staff to cope with. Nobody was happy with that meal, which dragged on for two and a half hours.
The staff in the hotel were all friendly and helpful, and overall it seemed good value for money. The only real down-side was that among the many Italian families with children there was one which allowed, in fact encouraged, their two children to scream, shout and run around throughout every meal, and generally create havoc in all the public areas. Nobody expects children to be seen and not heard, but most people do expect to be heard over the noise of the children, which was difficult on occasions with this family. The rest of the guests breathed a collective sigh of relief when they checked out.
That apart we had a good time, we would recommend the hotel, and if we returned to Livigno would probably stay there again. Livigno’s skiing is good for length of runs and snow coverage, and especially good for late season due to its altitude and location. We had some bad weather but when the clouds cleared glorious blue skies and immaculately pisted snow was awaiting us. There are quite a few miles of skiing on each side of the valley, all well connected, and served by reasonable lifts, with the notable exception of one truly ancient chair-lift serving Monte Della Neve. This really needs replacing as it’s both slow and dilapidated. The pistes themselves are usually very wide, nearly all above the tree-line and mostly of an easy to medium red standard, with a few blues thrown in. The few blacks don’t deserve the grading as they are really quite easy. The piste map could do with an update, and some better signs wouldn’t go amiss.
So, in short, if you fancy a reasonably priced stay in Livigno, staying in a traditional family run hotel, then the Posta would be a good choice.

Staff in the hotel is absolutely great! I did check out and left to Milan, when the hotel called and said I left my jewelry in the room! I guess no many hotels would do so! Great location as well, in the centre of the pedestrian street and almost ski-in, ski-out….

This was our first ski trip and it was with trepidation we stepped into this unknown little hotel. We were pleasantly surprised upon our arrival - warm greetings, cosy lounge and pub area. Our rooms were great - my husband and I shared a suite with a very large bathroom which included a jacuzzi bath tub and a stunning view of the slopes. The shower was a bit small though. The children shared a standard double room which was also very comfortable with a fairly spacious bathroom. The down duvets made our nights very comfortable indeed. The service from all the staff was excellent. They were very obliging and made our stay as comfortable as possible. The food was brilliant but can get a bit much when staying on a half board package for a long stay. The facilities incl a sauna, gym, massage and a ski deposit. Laundry machines are available at a cost of 3 Euros for a load. The hotel is centrally situated to the village and very close to the ski schools and slopes - within 5 mins walking. The hotel is managed by the owners with excellent staff always available.

We found Hotel Posta on the internet and couldn't find any reviews. So, we were nervous about staying somewhere sight unseen for 4 nights. But what did we do before the internet, right? Obviously you need a car to get to Livigno as it is not accessible by train, airport, bus (well, maybe you can get there by a bus, but I am not sure). We did have a bit of trouble locating Hotel Posta as it sits off the main street behind the pedestrian street. So...we had to drive down the pedestrain section to get to the hotel and the pedestrians kept giving us dirty looks...but heck...how else do you get there? I guess it's not illegal to drive in to the hotel and out of the hotel on the pedestrain lane. Anyway, the hotel has a 4 star rating...maybe it should be a 3 1/2. But it is nice. We had 2 rooms on the 2nd floor and shared a bath for our 2 rooms. The beds were comfortable, but rather small. The whole hotel has an alpine feel to it and it's quite cozy. We had a charming balcony that our 2 rooms shared with tons of flowers. Each room is also equipped with a small t.v. with CNN. Good or bad?? We couldn't get away from US news!

The breakfast which was included in the price was very good and there was an assortment of pastries, cereal and eggs to choose from. They also served cappuchino's and fresh juice. The lobby had free internet as well. The only hotel that we stayed at that offered free internet.

Overall, this family run hotel was very charming and cozy but there are a few things they could do to make it really nice. For one the sauna is only open from 4-7 pm. Those hours simply never worked for us because we were usually out running around. We would have loved to have used the sauna either first thing in the morning before taking a shower or right before bed. Also, their website states there is a fitness center. Apparently, they decided to get rid of the fitness center recently so don't count on being able to use that. And if you decide you want a massage: DON'T!!!! It was the WORST massage EVER. The guy giving the massage didn't show up for the first appt, so we rescheduled. When he did show up, he gave a massage like he was afraid of touching your body. He gives the massage in whatever you are wearing...does not have you disrobe. Does not use any type of lotion or oils and he apparently does not know what deep tissue is. He just rubbed here and there.... Save your money...it was a waste of 50 euros. The front desk that made the reservation for the massage was unapologetic about him not showing up either.
The staff, friendly for the most part, could be a bit brisk. We had a member of our group celebrating her birthday there. Cathy, who is the wife of the owner, did find us a birthday cake. We explained we wanted to surprise our friend with a cake and Cathy was kind to find us one (we did pay her for it). However, on the morning of our friends birthday, our friend got up rather early and went downstairs for coffee. Instead of waiting for the rest of us, the staff just brought her the cake at 6:00 am. Oh well...maybe it was a cultural difference.

All in all, our stay was nice and comfortable. They even have free laundry facilities that we took advantage of! The hotel is in a great location...right in the heart of the pedestrain shopping area and tons of good restaurants are within walking distance. I would definitely recommend the Touring Restaurant and get Carlo as your waiter. We ate there several times and Carlo was the best waiter ever!! He even took us to a different restaurant on his night off. I would love to come back during the ski season. It looks like a fabulous place to ski.
