Arriving into Innsbruck we only had a 3 and a half hour transfer to Livigno which evidently was pretty good timing compared to others.
We arrived on the saturday evening in time for the meal, but did feel rushed to get through the meal so that the staff could set the tables for the breakfast, this was a recurrent theme throughout the week, even if you were not late for your meal. The food was traditional italian which was very nice, we had 3 courses every night plus a salad buffet. At breakfast it would have been nice to have some fresh fruit or toast but equally there was something to eat everyday.
We booked our holiday last minute and got allocation on arrival and overall we were pleased with the hotel that we were given, each room has a big bathroom inc. a large bath to soak the muscles after a hard day on the slopes!
The hotel is a family run, and a couple of the waitors were very friendly, however some of the staff were a little cold. As stated in a previous review, the hotel is a short bus ride away. There are 3 bus lines and the hotel is only on one line but this runs every 20 mins and free with your lift pass, it is very easy to use and not a problem with your skis or snowboards so don't be alarmed by hearing you have to get a bus, you can walk into town but would probably take you 20-25mins. The village itself is lovely, and has some good shops for presents to take home.
Now the important part, the ski resort! Being my first time on a winter sports holiday, i had 2 hour snowboarding lessons for 6 days which was on a short blue run, there are other nursery slopes for beginners, the lessons were hard work everyday but also fun and good to meet other people at your level! There are cafes and bars at the bottom of the slopes to stop and have a drink. On the other side of the valley there is a fun park for snowboarders and runs for the more experienced skier or boarder. I recommend going to carousel 3000 for apres ski! Although they have to close at 8pm due to noise levels and the locals. After this i would recommend going to micky's bar where you can use a slide down into the bar with a shot waiting for you!
Our tour operator was Inghams and our rep was very informative and very friendly, she went out of her way to make our stay the most enjoyable. They also have a weeks planner of activities, that you can join in if you wish and i would recommend doing the husky ride on the friday, this was fantastic and a great day to end the holiday.
Overall, the hotel was nice and comfortable but could do with some modernisation in the rooms, there was plenty of space in the basement for your equipment and boots. There is also a sauna facility for a small fee which will help the muscles relax!

we stayed here for a week in january our room was 30 years out of date but clean, we paid extra to park our car in the garage only to go out one day and return to find the owners wife in our space and we had to leave our car outside. breakfast well all i can say is get down there early as very little is left later on and very poor. evening meal starts at 7pm and is like a rat race every one queing to go in the meal its self typical italian food not bad but very slow to be served . some of the staff need to go to charm school they did not make you feel welcome . to someup what we thought of this hotel we had paid for a weeks stay and left after 5 nights

Total agreement that this Hotel is as far out of town as you would want to be, but that does not prove any problem at all. We have stayed in Livigno many times, and even hotels in the centre are harder work for adventurous skiers who also like to 'apres-ski'. The Blue line bus stops so close you can almost put your ski-boots on and step on the bus outside the door.
The Rooms are fine, and Inghams did us proud this time. However, the bus driver needs a sat nav to get here, as the trip from Brescia took over six hours, and passed the door of Bergamo airport. (Why Inghams?) last tme we did this trip in under 4.5 hours.
I will state however that the Lift Pass is now outrageously over-priced, so beware and make sure that you really want a good time, as you will not want to waste it. Livigno people - It is at least 20% too high even without our rubbish UK/Euro exchange rate. We seriously considered Canada, as the package was actually cheaper.
Hotel food is not too bad. You won't starve here. You will also want to book this hotel if you drink Earl Grey tea, as they actually have plenty here.
Nightlife in Livigno is definitely suffering with credit crunch fatigue. Daphne's Pub was buzzing last year but struggles to get an atmosphere now. Galli's has at last changed hands and the new people are trying to change it's image for the better. You will see some initial improvements, but give it a year and we may judge it better then.
Bivio still has the vote here, and there are a few good places to go for a real english cup of tea and superbe 'Kuche'.

The hotel was great, a little out of town but the free regular busses put paid to that, the food was exceptional however a little rushed. The bar was acceptable however the staff were a little unattentive ( typically italian!) The facilities were fine however Inghams need to lie a little less on the brochure description.
One bit of advice is do not go with Inghams as they use Brescia airport ( 6 hour transfer) and Monarch to get you there ( big delays and no leg room and disgusting food)
Livigno is a great resort with plenty to do on or off slopes.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2007

We went to this hotel on the 23rd December 2007. We were a group of 13 mixed adults and children. I cannot fault the cleanliness and service from the friendly staff. The hotel is family run and traditional Italian meals are served. The food was great with at least 5 courses for the evening meal at night. The children enjoyed the food as well.Breakfast was typically continental, such as rolls, cheese, ham, cereals, yoghurt, juice and hot drinks available. You could also order a hot breakfast, full english, for approx 6 euros. The towels were changed every day and the beds and room cleaned. The rooms were warm with radiaters to dry out the ski jackets and pants. In the garage under the hotel is a room where the skis could be stored, also the boots and helmets. The hotel is approx three bus stops from the Amerikan nursery slopes and ski school. The bus service is free and stops right outside the hotel. Be warned the buses are busy with alot of shoving and pushing to get on, quite funny really. The buses are every 20mins or so. The sport hotel is a good traditional hotel for families and couples and i would recommend it to anyone. The evenings are quiet in the hotel, where groups of people play cards or games or just sit and relax with a drink. If you prefer to go into the centre at night , i would recommend Mikeys Bar or bowling ( cronox) for the energetic. The bus service stops at approx 8pm, but a taxi will cost you 2 euros each. The centre is about 7 mins on the bus from the Sport. Overall fantastic holiday.
