It was hard to rate this place. I felt the price was high for the accommodations but the view of the water was great. We slept with the balcony doors open and listened to the waves as we fell asleep. The front deck staff was wonderful but our room was never cleaned and no asked if we wanted it clean. On oversight maybe but for the price it should have been done. The breakfast was pretty basic too. We ate dinner there once and it was very good. The place is a walk from the center of town about 10 minutes up and down hills. We did get a discount o. Our rooms so I know I would not pay the fun price. The bathrooms were nice with a big show but the rest of the furniture was old and the beds need to be replaced or a least better pillows provided. If a view is your main goal is a good place.

Good sea view. The hotel is really on the sea. Located in a quiet bay but within walking distance from the port (10-15 minutes)
Nice hotel owner.
I guess I was the only guest of the hotel on the last night of the stay. The hotel could still offer nice dinner.

Small, quiet, friendly hotel with a superb location. On the waters edge with its own swimming deck with direct access to the water.
5 minutes walk through pretty "vicos" - alleys - to largely unspoilt port and town centre and old town.
Friendly and helpful staff, good local food, and a superb terrace overlooking the sea for dining.
Popular with holidaying Italians. Well organised management, with Carmello's excellent English
very useful for those with little Italian.

Room Tip: West facing give the best views

This is a very good 3star hotel. It has an amazing position on the waterfront &, though at the furthest point of the village of Lipari, it is a very pleasant walk back through the alleyways to the squares, shops, bars & port. The hotel & rooms are spotlessly clean with some communal rooms, a large dining terrace & further sunbathing terrace too. The staff mostly speak very good English & are extremely helpful. We did find breakfast somewhat disappointing with rather limited amounts & choice & sometimes not always fresh but the day before croissants re-heated. However, value for money, it is overall a very good place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing sea with balcony

One has to keep reminding oneself that this is only a 3-star hotel, so any remarks I make are hopefully constructive and not in any way negative.
Firstly it has a 5star plus location, this could not be bettered, but remember if you are not a sun-worshipper, the balconies facing the little bay have no shade during the day. However it is wonderful to sit having an aperitif at 5 o'clock, watching the comings and goings of the boats (including some extremely grand millionaire type boats with flashing lights along the water line!!) I wish we had known about the rooms with terrace or 2 windows.

The rooms are not huge, but have high ceilings, so do not get too hot. The air-conditioning is quiet and efficient, though the temperature set was a little high for us temperate zone people.
Cleanliness was impeccable.
The welcome received was warm and helpful and the staff remained friendly and helpful throughout the week. The waiters were very efficient and pleasant. The meals were I imagine typical of the region, but they were very willing to change the order of courses for us - eg prosciutto and melon as a main course seemed odd to us, but we were able to have that as a starter and pasta as our main. Fruit was available as pudding if we didn't want the desserts provided. The bread rolls at breakfast and dinner were just delicious (we are great bread fans). And to be able to have lunch or dinner on mezza pensione was brilliant.

The walk to the hotel (we missed the lift sent down to the pier for us) was not as bad as we had been warned by the hotel especially when we found the quickest way and we had a lift in the hotel vehicle back to the Marina Lungha at the end of our holiday. The hotel had arranged a transfer from Catania and a hotel for us in Milazzo (excellent) overnight as our flight did not arrive till 8.oopm - BA please do something about this!!

A complaint, and that is one I have to make about many hotels, is the lack of drawers - we had to keep a lot of stuff in our cases. Also at breakfast, the terrace has not many tables available in the shade - it might be an idea for the hotel to provide sun canopies there.

The other thing I must mention for English visitors is that the trips you can book through the hotel on the boats are disappointing as the commentaries are in Italian and even if you speak Italian, you know how unclear loudspeaker announcements can be. If you are not into swimming from boats, I would suggest getting a good guide book before you go and using the ferries to the other islands, except for the Stromboli excursion to see the evening displays of fire - this was an excellent trip.

Room Tip: The balconies are quite small, I believe there are a couple of rooms with terraces

Just come back from a week's holiday there with Travel Editions.Well run family hotel. Our bags were collected from the ferry pier and taken directly to the hotel. Most of our group walked to the hotel(about 15mins).Rooms were modern, clean and had comfortable beds. There was a lot of internal noise but since we were with a group we all tended to keep the same hours. We chose a room with a balcony but did not use it because it was too hot. There was no shade or cover and no privacy from neighbours on either side.
We had all our meals on a terrace overlooking the sea.Breakfast was good but sadly no fresh fruit on offer.
Dinners came with choice of 3 starters and mains. All good middle of the road quality.
Staff were excellent. Rooms well cleaned.Fresh sheets and towels daily.

I've just come back from 2.5 months of travelling around Europe and I must say that this was the most amazing hotel I stayed in. This place has everything - waterfront views, delicious food available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, its own private beach, a platform for sunbaking and diving off, spacious bedrooms with large bathrooms (which I found quite rare in European hotels) and friendly staff who make the stay just that much more enjoyable! Additionally, the hotel is only a 5-10 minute walk from the main Corso, which is close enough for you to enjoy the lively entertainment available in Lipari, and at a distance enough not to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle when you want to absorb the serene nature of the place. I will definitely be returning to this hotel!
