We went to Bonta after reading great reviews of this restaurant on Tripadvisor and following some mediocre experiences with other restaurants in Lerici. Our expectations were naturally high, on par with the fairly expensive prices reflected in the menu of this restaurant. We had appetizers, main courses and wine for two and the total was around 100 Euros which is neither higher nor lower than similar places around. The premises are fine but not extraordinary and the outside area does not offer any views other then the people passing by on the narrow street (sidewalk) where the tables are placed. We were greeted with a customary bread basket, which was basically tasteless, dry and not good at all (although it is meant to justify the "coperto" charge so annoying in most of the Italian restaurants these days). I had tuna tartare and my wife a salad which were both fairly average. Tuna had unexpected fishy taste which normally suggests either not the freshest fish or maybe some mix which includes other type of fish? Next, my wife had a pasta con vongole which was too salty and also not impressive while I had some meat of which I cannot even remember the taste. We left disappointed...

We liked it a lot and we owe this lunch to Trip Advisor! Have the Raw food from the Sea! It's my advice. Everything was lovely.
I didn't enjoy much past with urchines because in Greece, where I tried it first, use only the pure eggs of the urchine and not the black waste, so it always smells like the sea breeze, Unfortunatelly that wasn't the case here. Anyway, I would certainly go back to this lovely restauran with the great service! Dont waste your time trying to find an other alternative. It's the best here.

We ate here after checking Trip Advisor and weren't disappointed. The food is excellent and the service prompt and efficient. We ordered the antipasto di mare to start and it is the best we have ever had. There were 8 or so items and each was explained by the wait staff as they brought it out. The ravioli with sea bass is also wonderful, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Wine list is god too. The restaurant is set back off the main tourist area and has a lovely atmosphere with its white tablecloths and fresh flowers on every table. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here.

Visting the same restaurant three times in a week is generally a good mark, especially if the restaurant isn't on the cheap side. However, Bonta Nascosta was an extremely nice surprise (the name means something like 'well kept secret').

First time, we had lunch. The ricotta-stuffed ravioli with seabass and zucchini sause and a sea side carbonara blew us of our feet - having eaten acceptably good but touristic dishes without any personality, the two plates in front of us were vibrant, and both interpretations of otherwise known meals. Excellent taste, subtle in a way where the fish and seafood get to control the flavors.

Over the next two days, we came back to the restaurant for dinner. Equally good food (although they here, as everywhere else in Italy tend to focus too much on quantity, making everyone way too full). We had the 'Raw Food from the sea' starter, which was like 8-9 servings of different kind of fish and seafood, most of it raw. Rather innovative, some of it excellent (langoustine marinated in chili?, lovely) and some just unescessary (s.a. serving a fish with very fine taste together with apple and foie gras won't leave much room for the fish to be expressed).

The other dinner started with a smoked swordfish and a tartar of tuna, both really good without being outstanding.

As main course, we ordered: (some kind of sea bass) with seafood - cooked and served in aluminium foil, in a marvellous boullion with oil and salvia; seafood spaghetti (great, a classic plate which Bonta Nascosta serves with honor); Catalana (boilt seafood with steamed vegetables, certainly something of the most fresh you can get in this oil-and cheese loving country); grilled octopus with sallad and lemon (and here's something negative, the octopus was badly burnt, leaving half of it unedible - still, half of it is large enough for feeding one + large size puppy).

The ambiance is that of a hideaway, with white linen cloths, and the feeling of being in a grotta. Cosy, and since it's very small, the place was full all of the times we visited.

One advice, though. Skip the deserts (that's not their strong side), and go for a nice grappa to the coffe instead.

My husband and I spontaneously decided to eat here as we were both hungry. We were impressed be the quality of the pizza. We had eaten a great deal of pizza and pasta from Genoa to Lerici, but this was the best pizza we ever had. I highly recommend eating here!
