We had wandered round the historic centre of Lecce and found mainly pizzerie and places like Tex Mex but nothing that seemed inviting. Walking back to Hotel Delle Palme we noticed the sign for Gallo Nero and decided to give it a try. The staff were so welcoming and ushered us out to a delightful garden which was a real oasis of calm. Lovely trees, attractive lighting, tastefully set up. We enjoyed a lovely meal. Having been cycling round Puglia for a week and eaten lots of seafood we opted for a meat fest. Husband's steak was done just as he asked for it and my mixed grill was beautifully cooked and presented. Unfortunately we had eaten overpriced, disappointing anti pasti with a glass of wine in a city centre osteria so we could only manage one course but should we ever happen that way again we will try some of their other dishes.
